  1. Thanks for the help. So for example a SOSF if I were to grease the caseback gasket and crown gasket it should be pretty water tight as far as showering and a dip in the pool right?
  2. Just a question, I get how to grease the caseback gasket its pretty much a no brainer. What puzzles me is how do you grease the crown gasket where the gasket is inside of the crown and not on the tube?? Do you release the stem and crown from the watch, grease, then put it back in???
  3. Has anyone double checked the measurments? IIRC there was some concern that the Gen is supposed to be 45mm but the dealers were listing it as 44mm??? BTW Beautiful watch
  4. I think you are going off pics from Breitlings website which have been doctored. See UB's gen that he posted. I added it below and his gen seems to have the shiny not gray subdial rings. You can even notice he pic of UB's gen on top of what looks like a catalog shot, the catalog shot has the gray rings around the subdials though his gen does not.
  5. How good is your info? I was going to order the slate dial Skyland soon and the Black SA in a month or so once I have seen a few member pics and reviews on it. If they are coming out with the black steel I may hold off on ordering the Slate dial Skyland and order the SA now then the black steel when it comes out.
  6. Just curious this morning I noticed Angus was down to $268.00 on the price to match J&A's. Hopefully you did not pay the $298.00 or whatever he had it listed as a day or two ago.
  7. THe 7 looks like it could be a slight bit too close, then again it could be the angle of the shot. As for the 8 it is spot on with the gen directly under the 30 on the seconds subdial. According to Puretime who seems to be selling the exact same watch the 60-80 issue will be fixed and these photos are pre-production samples only??? Guess we will have to wait for someone to get one and put up photots to know for sure.
  8. Hey UB any chance you have a lume shot of your gen?
  9. I really don't think it is fair to compare any of the different SF units. They all have different capabilities and are better suited for doing different things. While the SAS might be better than the GSG9 at one thing, GSG9 might be better than the SAS at another. I think in the big picture if you want to look at the best SOF unit it would have to go to the Seals. Their ability to chop into as small as a 2 man team or intigrate with other SOF personel as part of a Joint Operations Command is un-parralled. They train for 18 months for a 6 month deployment, their command and control structure is intigrated on a task force level. All of the operators on the team have a hand in planning, the go or no go comes from a Seal officer that is present on the task force level. With the war in Afganistan and the amount of perishable intel Seals have the edge because they can be wheels up while other components are still in breifing or awaiting the go from their respective chain of command. Some other SOF forces that I did not see mentioned US ISA US DEVGRU(formerly Seal team 6) Polish GROM German KSK On a side note the "Best" SF unit is probably one that does not exist, who's operators are the cream of the crop and hand selected from their given countries top SF divisions.
  10. Looks like he only has the black strap for now, didn't see the brown one on his site
  11. Best I can tell looking at pics of the gen. the black dials have the black on the date window and the white dials have what looks like the silverish color on the date window. However on the AP website there is a gold case white dial which has black on the date window. Really confusing....
  12. Hey where are you getting the pins from? The piece that you are talking about is a tube that gets a "rivet" stuck into each end and it holds the foldover to the watch right? I need to find one too. My Link Chrono had something similar but instead of a rivet it had a screw in each end, I lost one of the screws and have not been able to find a replacement. If I could find the rivet kind I am sure I could make that work.
  13. Its amazing how the "snake oil" business has evolved. 98% of supplements are worthless. Of the 2% that have value, their value is miniscule in the grand scheme of things. In competition where every last bit counts that 2% could be the difference between winning and loosing but outside of that no one would ever notice the 2% difference between two people. As for steroids not being harmful, well I am not up to speed on them in any way shape or form to make that call. All I know is what I know from experience and as a child(between the ages of 1 and 3) I was on Pretazone or Prednisone, or some steroid that started with a P and ended with a zone and according to my doctor I have permanent liver damage from it. Not really complaining much seeing as before they put me on it they did not know if I was going to live or die but either way it still left its mark. Not to get off topic but who knows what supplement could have caused this? Its Lou Ferrigno at the premier of the new Hulk movie. here is the link where you can find the photo direct from Yahoo so it is not like someone photoshopped it. http://movies.yahoo.com/summer-movies/Incr.../361/9380/#info
  14. http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/A2.pdf However that is only good for 90 days. If you want to stay till next year you will have to go through the process just like everyone else and the fact that you are engaged to a US Citizen won't help out at all until you are married. In order for you to stay your Fiance is going to have to fill out the forms to petition a temporary visa for you. I am not sure as to the time frame and I am also not sure if you are entitled to stay here while the form is being processed. Best thing for you to do if you are in the US already is to find an imigration lawyer and let them square you away.
  15. How do the CG's on this compare to the gen?
  16. The simple answer, because they can. I can tell you this I know enough people with bank accounts deeper than Santa's sack and I have yet to see one of them point out a single thing they own and remark on how much it cost them with the sole intention of letting everyone around them know how much money they have. You are 26 and sell insurance for a living, honestly how many deceptive people could you have possibly run into? For that matter how many people who you have met and made a "snap" decision as to their character or worth, be it for the good or bad, have you continued to observe to see if you are right or not? Perfect example and this is just one that is close to me personally would be my uncle. Most days he wears jeans and polo style shirt. For a watch I have seen him wear a G-Shock, 2 different Tags, and an all gold Datejust on occasion and he drives a GMC Yukon. Nothing too special, seems like upper middle class right? Yet he goes home to a 8,000 square foot home worth a bit over 2 million, has a 65 foot yacht and just recently spent a bit north of $150,000 replacing every TV and piece of furniture in his house because he wanted new Plasmas instead of the DLP's he had. It started on the TV's and just kept going until everything was new. Let me guess you probably have neumerous credit cards close to their limit, driving or probably leasing a more expensive car than you can really afford and doing it all for that oh so shallow projection of image that you think will get you ahead in life. So here's to you Mr. Replica Wearing Insurance salesman, for without you used car salesmen would be the bottom of the barrel when it comes to projecting a false image.
  17. Just a thought. If the cyclopse is in perfect position now, why not mask off the outline of it with tape or something like that. Remove the cyclopse with the tape in place of where it needs to go back. If it would work that way it would make putting it back on a no brainer and would also keep you from haing to use Acetone to clean up any excess glue. Might not work as easy as it sounds but Lani if you are going to experiment anyways it might be worth a try.
  18. Haha my fake is better than yours!!! I have an even funnier story for you. Friend of mine is an LEO, he ran a homeless guy in once on a drunk and disorderly. Got him to lock up and as he was handing over his possesions what do you know this homeless guy pulled a Rolex 5512 off his wrist. My friend has been in love with Rolex since he got one for his high school graduation(he one of thoes people who could live off daddy but rather be on his own, more or less just to pi$$ daddy off) Anyways he verified that it was a gen and when they were releasing the homeless guy he offered to buy it for a more than fair price. The homeless guy told him that at one point he had alot of money, that Rolex was the first thing he bought when he started making money and when he lost his money it was the only thing of any value that they did not take from him. He said he would never sell it. The twist is this homeless guy does odd jobs here and there for cash. Every now and then my friend will see him hauling trash or hosing down sidewalks in front of businesses in the French Quarter. So there is guy who does odd things for cash with what a $15-$20k watch on his wrist the whole time? You never know what someone has going for them, the way they dress or act, even their job means nothing and lends no insite into their bank account. Money does not buy class as plainly evident in your story. SO was the point of mentioning his fake to the owner in hopes that she would notice your fake?
  19. WEP can be hacked by mere script kiddies in under 5 min., WPA is a bit harder but can be done by someone who KNOWS what they are doing. No offense but if you are asking how to do it you don't know enough to do it. I use WPA2 with a 60 character password made up of all printable characters. I also do not broadcast my SSID so someone would have to have a bit more equipment than a laptop with a wireless card in it to find it.
  20. Well here is what I can tell you as far as getting cigars for a large crowd. 1.) 98% of the people who take one and smoke it have no clue if they are smoking a $20.00 cigar or a $.50 cigar. 2.) Of that 98% probably about 50% or so will lite it up, smoke not even half of it, then throw it away. For bigger events I usually get enough for everyone in one type, something in the $2-$3 each range. Then I get a handfull of better cigars to give to the people who I know will enjoy it and not just lite up, snuff, and toss away a $20.00 stick. One question though, going from US to India would there not be any customs problems trying to transport 200 cigars???
  21. Hey CBR where did you find the update? I have seen them around here and there but have had not so good luck using some of them. SInce you acctually tried and are able to use the one you got it would make me willing to try it out.
  22. I am looking for a Kevlar strap 22/22 and pretty thick, somewhere in the neighborhood of 5mm thick. I have seen the ones at the usual places and they all just look cheap. They are thin, usually taper from 22 down to 20 or even 18, have long pointed ends and buckles that look like they belong on an 18mm leather dress watch strap. Any info would be helpful.
  23. I have a G Shock that has atomic updates. Every morning at some point between 2 and 5 it recieves signals from the Atomic clock in Colorado. All in all it is solar powered and +/- 0 seconds a day. I one time lost track of it in the house, found it 3 months later and the time was 100% down to the second. COSC time keeping at its best for under $100.00. Not quite the fasion statement nor a high end watch to say the least but these days you will not find someone who is highly dependent on accurate time wearing a Rolex, Omega, ect..ect.. I guess if you think that over time all mechanical movements will slow down or speed up then yes the closer you start to 0 the longer it will take to vary greatly from 0 than a watch that starts out +/- 10 per day. The question is how much more are you paying for a COSC certified and is is worth anything more than a marketing tool? The SOSF is rated to 6600', if one were to do a saturation dive deep enough to need a watch that would create a need for such a watch do you really think they would be wearing a watch over a dive computer? Do you think the XO of a sub is using a Ghram to time his torpedos in the water, or a pilot using a Breitling to navigate? Its all bragging rights and ways to justify the mark up.
  24. I think there are a few different versions of this strap. My cousin has a gen SOSF that came with the black rubber strap, his has the brushed buckle, recessed logo, and the letters on the strap seem deeper and more bold. I got a black rubber strap and mine came with the polished buckle, raised logo and the lettering on mine does not seem as bold/deep as his. Also if you look at the ends of the bands you can see the newer style with the raised logo on the buckle has a different tip on the end of it, more squared off. For a while I was worried that mine was just a really good rep strap until I saw one just like it in the AD's case.
  25. If this money does not come out of thin air then you show me where it comes from. Lets say Friday, acting on inside information, you were able to purchase 100 shares at $1.00 per share. The seller wanted to sell it for $1.00 per share and you paid him what he wanted so there is no stealing there. Now on Monday information was made publicly available that increased the stocks worth from $1.00 per share to $4.00 per share. Now you are sitting on $400.00 worth of stock that you only paid $100.00 for. Where did the other $300.00 come from??? If I decide I want to buy that stock I know its cost is $4.00 per share, what difference does it make to me what you paid for it? If I want it and it is being sold for $4.00 per share thats what I have to pay for it. Now your inside track is what led you to purchase the stock, on the other hand had you not purchased it and its value increased to benifit the original shareholder what is the difference? Someone still got in while it was low and made a bigger profit than thoes who did not get in until the price went up. So again I ask, if the money did not come out of thin air then you explain to me how one persons savings of $30,000 in your example came out of another persons pocket directly, WITHOUT THEM WILLINGLY GIVING UP THAT MONEY TO BUY THE STOCK FROM YOU.
