  1. a "franken" watch is a replica which has genuine parts fitted, hence it becomes a "frankenstein" watch.
  2. what seems to be stopping the bezel just snapping back on in place? maybe make sure the retaining spring is all aligned and hasnt slipped out of its groove anywhere...
  3. While out hiking or doing coastal research for my job I do somtimes wear a casio pathfinder triple sensor on left wrist for its digital compass and altimeter functions while I have a normal analoug watch on my right wrist so I can look quickly and make note of the time...I also know some divers who wear 2 while diving-although one is a dive computer and the other a dive watch. A family member in the uk special forces also wears 2-while on ops, one will tell the time and the other will count down the mission time... I think if its for a specific reason a lot of people wear 2 watches at the same time-not sure about the fasion statement reason though!
  4. Some dealers have a drop down menu for you to pick the movement you want. It may say $310 then you select asian eta from the menu at -$50 etc
  5. heres some pics of my dg4813 version...cannot find any fault at the price, id already modded my 45mm so this one was just to have and wear hence i went for cheapest option-as you can see though its damn fine in my honest opinion...
  6. yea different prices for different movements, $310 would not be the clone version, that price is usually the swiss eta... $240ish for the clone 2824-2, $150ish for the dg4813 model... as ry said im also 99% sure the only difference is the actual movement used (and hands on the dg4813 as they are not interchangeable with gen). if you want to mod it atleast get the clone movement if not the full swiss eta, if you just want the look and feel but still with pretty good functionality pick the ultra cheap but very very good dg4813 version.
  7. I can't comment on the watches you mention, but I too recently have found it difficult to wear larger watches. I used to love the bigger sizes like 45mm+ but have now worn 40 to 42mm exclusivly... Hmmm I blame solar flares effecting earths gravity exurting a greater pull on larger wristwatches...
  8. Very nice soh, I'm tempted by one in black...gotta love abit of mesh too!
  9. cheers buddy, glad you like! im normally a big fan of rubber straps on dive watches-but not this time, the mesh keeps the dive look i think and is alot comfier on the wrist.
  10. its a replica of the original omega mesh, got it from the strapcode website. it uses the "seat belt" clasp like the original. i payed around $100 for it which in all honesty is a little pricey but it does have a nice fit and finish. i have to agree-and not just cos its my watch!-that a steel band looks better on this watch than the rubber...
  11. well, to be honest im an omega man through and through-i have a franken planet ocean 45, a 42 PO, smp chrono, 2254.50 and a gen 2541.80 and 2531.80...but i've had an itch lately for something different. not too different though-it had to be a dive watch! so it was a toss up between a rolex dssd or a breitling superocean. being the type of person who for some reasons likes brightly coloured watches the new breitling superocean in yellow won straight on the laptop i went and a week later here she is-my first breitling purchase and to be honest i couldnt be happier, its a cool watch despite what the haters say! one thing bugged me though and that was the comfiness of the rubber strap, its bloody good looking strap mind, but i just couldnt get it to wear right. hmmm, after a rummage in my straps box i decided to give this mesh a try and im glad i did. i think it gives the watch a hardcore look while still keeping the overall image-and it wears perfect which i great! anyway hope you all like, i for one am a happy bunny.
  12. Yes without doubt, the upo has 22mm lugs so get the 22mm strap. You will feel the quality the second you hold it, its widely regarded as the ultimate dive strap.
  13. Their site is www.isofrane.com they have a history with omega-they made the original isofrane for the original ploprof 600m...the new version is a badass dive strap, avaialable in black or orange with new style or retro buckle...I have one fitted to my helson sharkmaster and love it.it is a monster of a strap thickness wise and doesn't taper to 20mm at the buckle-its 22mm the whole length.wears very comfortable for a big strap.take a look-may just be what your after
  14. Try a genuine 22mm isofrane...they are around $145 shipped brand new but worth every penny...ultra thick, ultra big, ultra cool!
  15. I'm pretty sure you will get it buddy, nothing to worry about! Just with so many packages they sort through it'll take time, especially this time of year when they getting back to norm after christmas.the tracking may say awaiting customs clearance but it maybe still in a cage or sack somewhere in a queue of thousands awaiting the same clearance...its normal though so not to worry :-)
  16. remember its not just your package coming through-its thousands...every hour... ive had some take just hours to clear, others over a week, just gotta be patient i think lazy is abit harsh, after all they're just doing their job checking packages for drugs, immigrants, counterfeit watches...
  17. id personally save the cash and just enjoy the watch, i have the exact same model and for the money out of the box its one of the best reps around, all i did to mine was add an aftermarket antireflective crystal...the amount you would spend on all those parts plus cost of the rep watch would equal a used genuine smp chrono in very good condition-you can pick them up pretty cheap (the earlier models).i went overboard on my orange planet ocean...and regret ever doing it, looking back i would've pretty much left it alone, instead of spending almost £700 extra on parts... to franken or not to franken is indeed a tough question though-you get a watch you built yourself, have the fun of sourcing parts etc, but on the other hand the cost involved can get silly-especially with secondhand bargains to be had...reps will always be reps-a lookalike of the real deal, perfection will only come with a genuine article
  18. To true, josh has come through and proves his trusted dealer title.and if whoever has my planet ocean is on the forum drop me a line!
  19. I think its only fair to give the dealer time to respond before naming.in this instance he has sorted the problem to an amicable agreement and in a very quick manner...he will cover all costs and ship a replacement watch to me.so thanks to josh at pc...I know mistakes happen, but was that really the watch packaged on my qc pics pictured on the packing slip?! Another long wait of 10 days odd coming up for me now, I love 2012 already!
  20. hes a trusted dealer on here, i wont name yet as the problem has been cited and in the process of being sorted...im awaiting an acceptable response on how to sort this out.in all fairness i've ordered from the same dealer numerous times and its been excellant everytime...just hope that this gets sorted quick as the watch was for a project-so annoying having parts to fit but now no watch to fit them to
  21. totally...why should i have to send it on at my expense? wheres my guarantee that the other buyer will send mine in return? why should two buyers have to sort out another persons mistake? if anything say "keep what you got and i'll send out the correct watches" and take the hit... sigh, its 10am in the uk, think i'll go off to the pub for a liquid breakfast...
  22. instant response from dealer, so thats good...but...he wants me to send the package on to original buyer!! what?? at my expense?? and have my watch sent from whoever recieved it...so my address will be known to sombody i've never met...any advice?
  23. ok, in regards to my previous thread about my package turning up on tracking in the wrong country-it arrived this morning! much relief believe me! however, relief turned to dispair...why? because on opening the package id be sent the wrong watch i recieved 2 watches, one ladies one mens...not what i was expecting...also the order numbers are wrong...mine ended in 19, i recieved the order ending 16 arghhhhhh. i could honestly scream!!! how can you take qc pics of the watch on the packing slip before posting and then send the wrong watch...it leads me to believe the watch pictured on the box for postage was not the one packaged up...i have a feeling the ones i recieved were already inside...anyway ive contacted the dealer, not atall happy though...
  24. you can find the 45mm planet ocean from any of the trusted dealers on the forum, some have them at different price points with different movements etc to choose from. as for a gen seamaster secondhand, you can search the usual places like ebay and watch forums etc but as for telling if its gen or not you'll have to do your homework...if it comes with box, paperwork with serial numbers intact that match etc and clear photos then your heading in the right direction...theres so many things to list though that would help in a purchase...best bet is to use the search function on here, and also google for gen seamaster images...the more you get to know the watch the more you will know what to look for if you go for the planet ocean rep though you wont be dissapointed...try and stretch to atleast the clone eta 2824 movement too, its widely regarded as one of the best reps available
