theres also this one just popped up...by no means perfect at all, but i think slightly better than the black one...this one does have applied number markers and omega word/logo (although the dial logo has happy feet), the bezel edge is wrong as is the pearl...but it does have the black date wheel with blue dial etc...so i think things are moving in an okish direction for a decent ceramic po rep...

42 or 45 is such a common question with the planet ocean-and its really all about personal preference i found the 42 to be very understated, it sits snug on the wrist, hiding away awaiting the next time the wearer checks it-which it does with a quiet confidence...the 45 on the other hand does'nt hide, it screams at everyone "LOOK AT ME AND I SHALL TELL YOU THE TIME! NOW! LOOK! IM HERE!" well maybe not quite so dramatic but you get the idea (especially with the orange bezel version...).having owned both i can say the extra 3mm of the larger version actually equates to whole lotta watch...the 45 wears so much more bigger than the 42-especially on the bracelet-i changed the bracelet on my 45 to either a mesh or the original rubber strap to make it more wearable day to do. the best advice i would give is to go to an authorised dealer, say your interested but wanna check both sizes, try on both the 42 and 45 and decide which feels and looks nicer...then politley say you'll have a think over a cup of coffee, walk and out, and get ordering online if you find you like both sizes and still cant decide...maybe get the 45 upo, then from the same site you mention get the 42mm asian 4813 version for just $148 extra...then you'll have best of both worlds! the upo is also superb for modding as pretty much all the genuine parts will fit, heres a pic of my big bright orange planet ocean, with genuine dial and hands, genuine bezel and rubber strap, my wrist is just over 7" and i prefer wearing my 45

if stem is a tad short perhaps its screwing right down too much onto the little rubber o-ring inside the crown, the o-ring being compressed too much and slightly wound could start to return to its normal shape and position taking the crown with it...quick at first then abit slower...i dont think that would unwind it the whole way though, just a half or full turn at most. try removing the movement from the case, then screw the crown into position...if it still happens its the crown and tube-if it doesnt and stays tight its probs something with the movement...
-
Ahhh right! Thought you ment loctite superglue then! Threadlock may work, I use it on my bike pedals...maybe a bit overkill for the watch though. Can you actually see the crown unscrew? Like does it happen fast or over a certain length of time?
-
your gonna superglue your crown onto its tube?? if that sticks the threads fast how would you un-screw the crown to set time/date etc?? is your stem the right length? if its abit long or jamming on somthing in the movement/not lineing up straight, perhaps its twisting the stem inside the crown-then untwisting itself causing the stem to unscrew at the same time?? never heard of a crown unscrewing itself though! may want to call in an exorcist if all else fails....
-
no probs buddy, looking forward to seeing the finished watch!-you'll be after gen dial/hands next...then bezel...then crystal...then bracelet...it will never end! but modding is soooo rewarding and addictive is it not?!

search the reference number i supplied "x12870" and the number you have "st1232" on the cousins site-it brings up the same part in the results.it is the correct part for the 45mm planet ocean. i think 090ST1232 is the part number and x12870 is cousins own reference number for the part. if you want further confirmation go to cousins website, go to branded parts/omega/omega case parts, enter 168.1652 in the case number box (this is the case number for the orange bezel 45mm planet ocean) then search all parts, towards the bottom you'll find the pendant tube, £2.75. will fit all 45mm planet oceans...im sure other people will confirm the parts number too but i think you can tell im pretty sure i got it right!

sounds like a balance wheel/mainspring problem?, perhaps a clamp has come loose or the spring needs a good clean/lube...or a service on the whole movement...i had very same problem on my seamaster chrono-ran fine for 2 months when i first got it but then one morning it died...would wind fine on the crown, rotor was fine, date and time change worked-but the watch was dead, it just wouldnt start anymore...i managed to find a friendly local watchsmith who despite it being a replica was prepared to atleast have a look at it, but only if i agreed that if he broke it further i was just to accept that it was a poorly made movement and he could not offer a guarantee that any fix would last as the parts were counterfit...i agreed-so he whipped the caseback off, removed the antimag cover, seen that it would wind on the rotor/stem but then noticed the balance wheel wasnt ticking and certain cogs were no longer turning when winding the watch...i left it there a week and after a service and making sure all the cogs/clamps/screws etc were sat properly in the movement its been ticking away happily for over a year...a small clamp/cog had worked loose and was jamming the movement-he also said the movement was very dirty which was also causing the watch to not tick as the parts could not move freely...could be same prob with yours?. as for getting a replacement eta movement you may have a job as the sub dials are at 3-6-9 on the planet ocean chrono...if its a newer model replica it has a modified asian 7750 and im not sure you can buy those-you can buy a standard asian 7750 though with 6-9-12 sub dials from cousins but at over £100, for me, the service and clean on mine which cost just over £80 was a better choice-i was more happy with a fully serviced, fully cleaned movement. so my advice is try and find a local watchmaker-not a jewellers or authorised dealer though! a nice back street personal owner run shop etc, say you got the watch from a local bootsale/yard sale/bought off friend etc, say its not ticking and can he take a look, if hes friendly he'll tell you its a fake, but take a look anyway...if hes not friendly he'll say its a fake, tell you hes not prepared to touch it, and ask you to leave! im sure theres people on here too who you can send the watch to for repair but other more experianced members will be able to inform about this. anyway these are just my ramblings that may not be of any use to you! but if they are great stuff! either way, good luck with getting the watch going again.
-
big welcome to the forum buddy, you have a good watch there-colour of the numbers looks fine to me, when i swapped the dial on my orange 45mm to the gen dial, the numbers where a darker reddish orange on the genuine dial compared to a more brighter orange on the replica dial-so yours is a very good colour match from what i can see...i've also seen plenty of 42mm genuine planet oceans with "professional" on the bracelet. the pearl is a little bit on the big side-not massivley though! and it is well centered-again nothing to worry about... remember that replica watches are just that-replicas of the real thing...and therefore they will never be prefect, but they will be acceptable, fun to wear and great to collect! you can always get into modding and adding genuine parts to make the watch look as good as possible-but when you get a rep like yours pictured i wouldnt bother really-just wear it and enjoy!

Install gen crown / he valve in PO 42mm Asian 21j?
bamcky2k replied to kittikatore's topic in The Omega Area
im guessing they would fit ok...im pretty sure the only difference between the 21j and others is the movement-i think the case is the same on all of them... -
The longines is hard to beat for the price-a slightly modified and decorated 2824-2 movement, 300m waterproof, shockproof, anti reflection sapphire and divers extension on bracelet-a fully loaded swiss made watch, automatic movement and with a bit of haggling in an AD can be had for around £650.it also has a fabulous electric blue dial-in normal everyday light its by all aspects a dark matt blue dial...but when you catch sunlight on it at the right angle it comes to life with rays of electric blue light glimmering on its surface! This is the bulk of my collection, I have my blue and black seamasters off being cleaned right now and a casio g shock on loan to a family member.and christmas is only a few weeks away so hopeing mr christmas (aka wifey) will bring me some more wrist candy!

amen to last part of this statement! but yes, gen crown and tube is indeed such a cheap and easy mod and makes all the difference, a quick service ontop and it should be running like ermmm clockwork... as for the cousins part numbers if its a 45.5mm planet ocean it will be same as my orange one-case number for my orange bezel 45.5mm is 168.1652, i think the 45.5mm black bezel with white numbers is case number 168.1650...either way the crown and tube is the same reference numbers for both cases on couisins which is: crown-42184st tube-x12870 the tube is known as a "pendant tube" on the site incase you cant find it, good luck and show pics when finished!

well hello on this lazy hazy sunday...around a week ago i posted my first topic to say hey and got a fabulous welcome from alot of like minded people on this forum-i then promised more pics of my collection by friday...but work had other ideas-so two days late here be my pics! apologies for some fuzzy-ness, its sunday, im still half asleep etc etc but you get the idea! hope you like and please post yours too with some words about your watches-always good to talk all things time is it not?! when im more awake and have more free time i'll try and get round to writting some specific reviews of the pieces i own to hopfully add to an already healthy community of information. the longines and rotary are gens, the orange 45 planet ocean is a franken with gen dial, hands and bezel, the 42 planet ocean has had a smaller He valve crown added for a more proportionate look. enjoy!

as you say the only real thing i can see is the very low bezel pearl-but its a common thing so nothing to worry about! dial looks clean and crisp, second hand tip appears orange and not red...id accept that one! and as for the bezel you can pic up more inserts with better centered pearls on ebay for as little as $18 shipped...post pics when you get the little box through your door!

Need Help Finding Best Version Of Po 42Mm Please!
bamcky2k replied to sgtguk's topic in The Omega Area
this is the same version i have also from josh, superb! omega logo is i would say spot on in regards to placement on dial, bezel pearl very very good, the overall look and indeed feel is nothing short of amazing for the price! excellant purchase there buddy -
gen crown and tube is a cheap and relativly easy mod-and would fix all the cosmetic probs...and you would have gen parts installed so it would be the beginnings of a franken! i know the gen parts fit the larger planet ocean rep but not too sure about the 42mm...i gotta say superb looking watch buddy, for the money i think this rep is unbeatable!

is that a philips head screw for the bezel pearl haha, that is pretty poor though...

How to: Paint mod for the UPO seconds hand. Colour matched
bamcky2k replied to mastrmindalliance's topic in The Omega Area
great pics and info, i had the very same idea a while back! 2 other options for the paint are vellejo fluro orange and citadel firey orange (i used the citadel with a matt varnish). its a superb and very simple (and extremely cheap) basic mod but does indeed make rather a big difference-a noticable one imo. great stuff! -
