  1. SOLD!! To RollyPolly. Amazing! Very nice lines. The right amount of gen parts that makes it reasonable to own & wear. Nice dial. A refin? I'm envious.
  2. Aww. You are the nicest to your silica gel. I recently bought mine a bag of popcorn. Beef jerkey is prolly the way to go! SO Sweating is not good. Maybe you ought to tell whom ever you received the watch from of the issue. I currently have a 1680 that I sealed myself and had my w-smith test for me and wear it daily in the hot tub. (Canada BRRRRRR! -17c) No condensation probs. Good luck.
  3. I too am in the midst of an Explorer I franken project, and I am struck as to how nice yours turned out! It gives me something to model mine after. Looks perfect! R.P. P.S. Want to rid yourself of the extra dial?
  4. Post a photo of it. A little more info would be nice. Is it sharp on the edge of the bezel,on the top surface where the crystal pokes thru. A suggestion would be to look in the repair section on how to remove it from the body, then remove the insert, and file and polish. OR Look for a new one, and hope that it fits. Cheers, R.P.
  5. If I were to give any advise to a fellow noob, it would be what you have already done: read EVERYTHING! Usually people find this forum after they make their purchase. You on the other hand, had the forsight to research what you are trying to purchase, and made the stumble onto this board. I too found this place by accident as well. After spending lot of $$ on parts for frankens on the bay. Home at last!
  6. Looks like a plane crash survivor. Maybe ripped from the arm of an adventurer by a 12 foot 2900 pound Poler bear in Alaska. I have my doubts, but lets see a clear shot of the movement. 180075879814 C&P to "bay search
  7. Bin Dare, Dun Dat. I feel your pain, bro.
  8. Congradulations!! Your motto from your High School days has sure paid handsomly. Learning all the lessons of life takes a life time. It sure is nice to see other people take pride in their academic achivements. I work in an enviornment that forces learning to take precedence to actually having face time in the office. When I am on U of T. campus I'll look for an IWC on a wrist, and maybe we'll chat. Best of luck with your impending studies. R.P.
  9. Very well done! A little more pricey then a full rep. But frankens wear like gens and when you are called out, you can truthfully spit back "friggen right it's real". Only it has a different heart beating in it's chest. My 16030 is very nice to wear, but my 15000 Date to franken-Air King conversion is the one on the wrist 90%. Wear it well!
  10. Welcome! You have great taste in reps. 2 of the very many that I presonally like! Once you have been bitten by the bug, it never seems to end. Always something better. Then you see small flaws that can be fixed. Tear down time. [censored] your self time. Learn time. You see, it never ends. The good thing is that you and I are now amongst other peers that have been there, done that. A great place to learn and expand our knowledge. Great pics! Cheers, R.P.
  11. You gotta love the clean unclutterd look of an Explorer. Enjoy it!!
  12. PM me. I have one a/m spare. needs medium gasket. All others included. Never installed Yours for postage.
  13. I have 2 frankens' - 15000 gen Date case and crown (circa 1962) with a gen 2006 Air King Dial with a modded Ebel 123 movement (a very detailed 2892-2 ETA) and crappy a/m hands with a polished a/m band. 1- gen 16030 Date just case, crown and acrylic crystal. An aftermarket mother of pearl roman numeral dial, decent hands along with an a/m polished YM band with a stock clasp. Running a 2836-2 ETA. 1- home built 2t DateJust with an ETA 2846-2. Decent quality, but the gold on the band doesn't seem trust worthy. Not the go to watch. 1- Stainless Sub project watch that is getting a 2892-2 ETA, case mods, gen Crown, and I hope a date ring from a fellow member. I think I have found a place that I can learn from and give 2.5 cents worth. A photo is attatched of the 2 franks.
