  1. If somebody can confirm whether the Trusty/Josh strap will mount properly on the Silix PO it would be much appreciated!
  2. Well put D4M. And good to see you back Roeod4
  3. I like TTK, in fact I bought my first watch from him. He has always been good to me, he's had my back when I've been in trouble, and I consider him to be one of my best online friends. However, like everyone, he has flaws. He is very opinionated, and once he has decided on something, changing his mind is impossible. He seems to have temper issues, and I think that is his biggest problem. As others have said, when you talk to him personally its hard to believe that you are talking to the same person that we see online every day. Recently I've noticed that TTKs fuse has grown much shorter. I've witnessed the disintegration of his friendship with Pugwash, his lack of concern for his customers, and now total disregard for the administration of this board. I can't help but feel that he is simply venting his his frustrations over personal issues, but who knows. I stand by the Admin Team's decision, but I also hope that something can be worked out in the future if TTK comes to terms with his deeper issues. Whatever you feel about him, his contributions to these boards cannot be denied.
  4. You would need a gen dial, but not because of the movement so to speak. Its because the date window on the 7753 is more outboard then on the asian tricompax. You could use the rep dial but the date would be shifted way to the right.
  5. I believe dial feet are the same from 7753 to 7750. After all, I've seen gen dial installed on the asian 7750 tricompax (which is 7750 based), so there shouldn't be an issue with that.
  6. Hands can be used from a 1st gen rep Anton. Like you said, dials are available, but they are slightly too large for the rep case. The can be filed down, but much of the slide rule "tics" are hidden under the insert. Date change is a problem, yes, but most could live with that. Biggest problem is the direction of the single digits on the datewheel. I've never seen a solution for that.
  7. Have never seen anyone try this mod unfortunately. Probably the cost of a 7753 is the biggest factor. On top of that you would need a genuine dial. Then you would still have an incorrect date wheel to contend with.
  8. It is hard to tell the quality of the pearl from the provided pic, but as previously stated, its anybody's guess as to whether it will even fit in your rep. As to the hands, re-luming your existing hands will cost money. If the gen hands are cheap enough, it may just be more cost-worthy to do it that way.
  9. I'm feelin the love, are you?
  10. As doc said, just get the gen hands, I don't think they are that expensive. But Zig will do lume, he's doing mine as we speak. AR coating the crystal is a great idea as well, but Zig told me that all his slots for AR service are full, and it could be several months before the next run. Gen bezel can not be used, only the insert. Very pricey as the insert and bezel can only be purchased in one piece. Great looking mod, but costs as much as the whole watch!
  11. Did you send him your phone number?
  12. Seems he was pretty clear, "members with issue please send phone number". You continue to post your details publicly and expect him to respond. Did you read his first post? Did you send your number? When it comes to a dealers credibility, simply posting publicly is as much as bad as an insult.
  13. See, this is the problem with threads like this. I've known TTK for a long time. To this day I have never experienced the type of exemplary customer service that I received from him. In every instance that I see someone complaining that they didn't get a watch, or that it arrived DOA, TTK ALWAYS has the evidence to show that the person was stretching the truth, if not blatantly lying.
  14. I really don't suggest that you make your first effort with an UPO and a gen dial. Watch dismantling is very tricky and involves a lot of practice. Get your practicing done on a POS watch, and let a pro handle your UPO. I guarantee that if it is your first attempt you will screw something up. Call The Zigmeister and let him handle this for you.
  15. Richard, I believe you have the right to express your opinion freely, as does everyone. But, you are speaking of past experience. All I was saying is that if I had a deal pending with a dealer, and the deal was going south, I would be as cooperative and understanding as possible.... Until I got my watch. Neil has given his side of the story and promised to make it right, but still guys flame him. I just don't see the point. I have the same attitude in business, and handle myself professionally and politely. At the end of the deal I analyze whether to use a certain vendor again. Being rude during the transaction does nothing to smooth the process.
  16. I really don't understand how some people think that publicly accusing one of our longest standing dealers is going to get them their watch any quicker? I just don't get it. If somebody owed me something I would be as diplomatic about it as possible. Especially when dealing with counterfeit goods with a guy half way around the world. I see guys here that are screaming because they haven't received a watch ordered on January 30th for christ sakes! My first watch took longer than that, and I never had any thought of publicly crying "scammer". TTK posted in this very thread his reasons for delay. Be nice. Be patient. You'll get your watch. If you want to be an a$$hole about it, its probably just going to take longer. And btw, all the information about how TTK does business is available. Its no secret. You guys probably knew that or should have done your homework before placing your orders.
  17. Don't like it. I'm a purist and wouldn't put anything that wasn't remotely accurate to a gen strap on my Breits. Probably because I think that of all watchmakers, Breitling is probably the finest strapmaker there is. Why try something so inferior when the bar has already been set so high. Sorry Vic, just my opinion
  18. FIRST PRESS THE BUTTON AT 2:00. Dont reset while the stopwatch is running!
  19. I've got both the UPO as well as the Silix PO. One thing I can tell you is that my UPO bracelet will not fit on to the Silix rep. The lugs are shaped slightly different and I imagine the lug holes are in a slightly different place as well. This may be the cause of the problem people are having with the Silix strap not staying put on the UPO. My guess is that it was designed for his watch, and even though it can be fit into an UPO case, it still is not right. Bottom line is to buy the strap that was made for your watch.
  20. Here are some better comparison shots!
  21. Here are the astounding results...
  22. I think we should all type like this in all future TTK posts. Its easier on his eyes! Get well mate!
  23. Well, looks like you guys are pushing me to re-coat it, sooo.... Maybe this is a good opportunity to to get a good look at how AR effects the look of the watch. Should I mask half the crystal, strip one half of it and take some pics? Let me know?
  24. I am a stickler for perfection in appearance in my watches. Desk dive marks are polished out as soon as they appear. I always buy sapphire because if there is one thing that will stop me from wearing a watch, its a scratched crystal. Anyway, I recently picked up this Silix PO that has aftermarket AR from one of our AR providers. As you can see, it makes the crystal vanish and really helps show the dial nicely. But, look around the edge of the crystal. The AR is wearing off and just look terrible from certain angles. My question is, how has your AR held up? I'm not talking about watches that spend most of their life in the watchbox, I want to know how it stands up to daily wear, water, soap, etc. I'll let you decide if I re-coat, strip, or leave this one as is!
