  1. I love this watch, but the seconds at six kills any notion of buying one. Hopefully they'll get it sorted one day!
  2. I saw the flat six at the AD the other day. I was very unimpressed with the metal bracelet. It looks much better on rubber!
  3. I've actually just finished regulating the 7750 in my Chrono Avenger. Definitely not a job for impatient people . It was running about 2 minutes slow, but as the 7750 has no fine adjustment, it is really a hit and miss exercise. It literally took about 5 days to get it right, and since about this time yesterday it is at -4 seconds. However, I have discovered that the watch runs differently when not worn. For instance, last night it lost about 14 seconds whilst I slept, and it has gained about 10 of those back in the twelve hours that I have been wearing it. Its kind of the nature of the beast with automatic and mechanical watches, so if you want perfection wear a quartz.
  4. Hey Mate, enjoy the rest of your stay in the Big Apple! Planning any watch purchases while you are there?
  5. I'll only post once to this topic. I am against the practice of paid reviews. I respect Pug's reputation, but I think it is impossible for ANYONE to be objective when there is payment involved. Sure, in this revue Pug quickly mentions the visual & mechanical inaccuracies of the watch (fair enough), but PT is making a very big claim that this chrono is waterproofed to 50m. Pug dodges this claim and says he wore it out in the snow and whilst washing up. Thats not the hard hitting journalism I've come to expect from the fellow that broke the "White Lies" scandal. I don't care if he takes a freebie, but if he's going to revue it, revue it properly.
  6. I am pretty certain that this will be my next watch. It looks great Marty, wear it well!
  7. Probably not, you would likely need to get the original part.
  8. I agree, you kind of have to buy this one knowing that it won't get a lot of wrist time. I would be perfectly happy to wear one of these once or twice a month though.
  9. I guess you lost the part? If you have it, its a fairly easy fix. If you don't, you will have to track down a new pusher somewhere, which might be difficult.
  10. LOL Kruz, when I saw this post I was at work, where the block photobucket and other image hosting sites. Since I couldn't see the pics, the first thing I did was visit Andrew's site. Although I was pretty sure I wouldn't find anything there!
  11. She's a beaut! Wear it well.
  12. As previously stated, check out TRC. In the new dealers section under "Ritzshop watches". The fellow goes by the name "crippler".
  13. Not bad, aside from the date font the size of the "SuperOcean" and "Automatic" seem a little off. On the gen the "P" in SuperOcean touches the "A" in Automatic. On the rep the "P" touches the "U". Minor stuff, and a good first effort!
  14. Nothing to worry about. Relax!
  15. One dealer is showing this watch with the SS trigger, and at $290 shipped it's a lot more attractive than the Cartel model
  16. Size wise you'd be looking for a DG4813, but I haven't seen them with a black datewheel. Also your ETA hands would not fit.
  17. Datewheel fonts are in some cases five times the size of some of the fonts on a dial. The smaller you go, the harder it gets.
  18. Didn't that watch come with factory AR, or is it the previous version? If it did, why did you decide to re-coat it?
  19. Although the point is moot because it is no longer in production, there are plenty of members that will argue that some versions of the 21k 7750 were just as good or even better than the 28k version. Sure the first versions of the 21k were junk, but by the time the 28k was released, the 21k had actually become a pretty reliable movement. In fact, when the 28k came out I saw far more failures and DOA watches than I had seen in a long time. I currently have two 21k 7750s in my collection, and both have performed flawlessly over several years. Also, as you are posting this in the Breitling section, you need not concern yourself about the "seconds at 6" version as it is not used in any Breitling reps. That movement is used mostly in Rolex Daytonas and IWC models. BTW, there is no affect on longevity by having the chrono running or idle. I prefer to leave it idle so the stopwatch function is ready when I need it. As you are new to these movements, here are a couple of things that will keep your 7750 running smoothly. - Never set the date between 9PM and 3AM. In fact when setting the date it is safe to advance the time until the date changes, then continue to advance the time to 6AM. Then advance the date to the desired day. Then set the hands to the correct time. - When using the chrono, never reset when the second hand is more than 10 seconds from the 12:00 marker. These things generate a lot of torque and the second hand will often slip and no longer reset correctly. Following this rule will insure perfect alignment.
  20. I bought my first rep (7750 Navitimer) a few years back at about $275 shipped. Seems to me the latest 7750 reps are surpassing $400 shipped. Now the US buck may be bad, but not that bad!
  21. I'm afraid that some of you are making this sound a little simpler than it actually is. To achieve the kind of perfection that would be acceptable to our members here would require a lot of work and patience. When printing small text on objects like dials it is very very difficult to replicate from an original with 100% results. Sure, it would be a fairly elementary process to duplicate text and cutouts in an electronic vector file, its dealing with problems like "ink spread", that will cause the tiny letters to appear thicker. So you would have to "choke" the artwork, but by how much? What would likely end up happening is somebody getting stuck with a bunch of dials that nobody wants because "Luminor" is ever so slightly bolder or lighter than the gen. Detailed printing work like this is a fine art, make no mistake about it, and should not be attempted by the "Do-it-your-selfer".
  22. Really doesn't take a huge bankroll to have a nice watch. A kid in my office wears a gen Rolex that his parents gave him, and he's rarely got money for lunch. In my travels today I saw a vintage Sea dweller of a little over $1000. Sure, a lot of money, but not that much when you think what a decent Seiko is worth. Lying about a reps authenticity is not the best advice I'd give to any new collector. Its one thing to claim your new UPO is the real deal, but what do you say when you pick up a Hublot a month later, and a Panerai a few weeks after that? I'd much rather be known as a guy that wears nice reps, than the guy that lies. With strangers its always better to turn the question back at them, "What do you think?". At the very least you will have a good conversation about reps or gens!
  23. Just had a look at Josh's pics and the lever is indeed black
  24. I think its just the lighting, look at the lever in the first pic closely.
