  1. Any suggestion that the forums have supported Zig is hogwash. If anyone has benefited, its all of us, from Zigs support.
  2. Thats a beauty italiano. Congrats on your new toy!
  3. This is certainly terrible news. The forums will definitely miss your wisdom my friend.
  4. There is some good info here... http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=12678 http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=426 http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=46047
  5. You will see a blue tint on genuine AR, but what CT is saying is that REP AR is not accurate. Tou have to see a rep AR to know what he is speaking about, but what you will see is blue in just about any light condition. A friend dropped by with his new Chopard rep this week and I had to ask if the dial was blue or black because the rep AR was just that invasive. Genuine AR will not be seen unless you turn the crystal just right towards a light source. Its very subtle.
  6. Victoria, I guess you've decided to ignore me (as you so eloquently stated in your pm "eeeeewww you give me the creeps") but I assume your nosey nature will not let you avoid reading my posts. Why don't you stop wasting the members time and efforts rehashing info that is already readily available in these forums? There has not been one fact listed in this thread that is not available already on this site! You seem to be rallying people to put together an all encompassing guide that you can claim as your own. And as I said before that is offensive to the people that collected the information. Why not put a book containing a synopsis of every book ever written in the front of every library. That way newcomers would never have to venture past the foyer. If you are keen to contribute, here is a watch Its a great looking piece, and I'm interested in it. But all I know about Chopard is that Simon Cowell wore one at the beginning of last season, and I don't think it has been reviewed here. So, why don't you start a thread and challenge members to research all aspects of this watch, and spot any differences. Look at the case, dial, crystal, pushers, crown, caseback, hands, strap, and clasp. After a week, take all the information from that thread and write a decent comparitave review of the watch. Then, you will have contributed positively. "Victoria's guide on how to spot a rep" based on other members work just doesn't cut it with me.
  7. A crystal will only reflect color if AR is applied to the outside of the crystal. As it doesn't say "Double sided" in the description, you likely only have AR on the inside of the crystal. If it is a deep enough tint, you should be able to catch a glimpse of the blue tint on the inside.
  8. My dear Victoria, there are no unresolved issues. I simply don't understand what you are getting at. This forum contains thousands of posts, photos, and reviews, painstakingly crafted to illustrate the differences between reps and gens. For you to even insinuate that these comparisons could be spelled out here in a few short sentences is just plain insulting. I have just finished a review of the Breitling Blackbird, and it was a culmination of 2 weeks worth of hunting for photos, writing, rewriting as well as several trips to the AD. Its a lot of work. As a newb, you should know that you will learn nothing unless you make the effort to search for the information that you seek.
  9. Very well put Pug. To spot a rep you really have to be familiar with two watches, the rep and the gen. That is why the guys on the gen forums have problems, because they are only familiar with one watch. Rep spotting is a very difficult skill, and to be good at it you will need a lot more than a word document can ever give you. I've been here fore several years and haven't even got all the Breits figured out!
  10. What's the point of this? From my experience it takes a lot more than a word document to learn this stuff. There are several guides provided by my good friend By-Tor that will give you pretty much all the info that you are looking for. To think that you will become some kind of WIS, capable of spotting a rep, of any brand, whilst on the wrist of a stranger is just ludicrous IMO. Hundreds of different watches with multiple versions, and varying colors to boot. Good luck
  11. My guess is that the new SFSO will include the pointed second hand that Breitling is now using. I prefer the square one to be honest.
  12. I find your signature somewhat ironic  Unfortunately the threads in either the crown or the tube have stripped. No easy fix, as the crown and tube must be replaced.
  13. So thats how are reps are made so cheaply!
  14. A lot of it is perception. You are used to a 42mm size, so it is expected that a 45mm watch will feel too large for you. I had the same experience when I went to the AD to try on the PO. The 42mm felt nice, but the 45mm felt huge. I did however buy an UPO, then another. Now 42mm seems small, and 45mm feels right. Its just what you are used to. BTW, I'm a 6.75" wrist.
  15. Personally I don't like the Breitling deployant. I do like most deployants because the tend to cause less wear on the strap. The Breit buckle causes a weird bend in the strap, and ends up creasing the leather. I prefer this kind of deployant as it keeps the strap straight and doesn't bend the leather...
  16. Here's my white SFSO on a Bob for Breitling strap!
  17. Also, just keep your eyes peeled in the member sales section. Every once in a while there will be a 7750 watch that my have cosmetic issues that go for fairly cheap. I've picked up several 7750 models for just over $100 in the past.
  18. One of these days I'll put a 7753 and a gen dial in mine!
  19. Been wearing my Breits (and the occasional PO) on SS bracelets all week. Today its the Navi, then everything goes on leather next week.
  20. Hey Zig, I know exactly how difficult this procedure is because I had to do the same thing when I accidentally knocked the tube off the second hand of a particularly rare rep. I tell you, I felt like a micro surgeon when I finally got that watch back together! Great job, and thanks for bringing back memories of that nightmare!
  21. There may be a lot of reps coming out of china, but for the most part those are really bad fakes. I really thing that you over estimate the number of really good reps out there. I live in a large city (Toronto), and I have yet to see someone else with a decent rep. Never seen an asian 7750 on the streets. There are plenty of subs and datejusts, but there simply aren't that many examples of anything else. Certainly not enough to threaten Breitling's or anybody else's market share.
  22. Nope, it will at the very least need to be de-cased, in order to fix the pusher problem.
  23. Very nice watch and FANTASTIC pics!
