Hope we can decide on where to meet soon, I think somebody from NYC ought to make the decision based on what we are going to do. Eat, drink, and talk about reps? We could do that almost anywhere. So: my 2 cents: I'm good anywhere, will eat anything except raw fish, and am good for any day except the 15th. It would be OK with me if it was lunch or an early dinner, I'm about 1 1/2 hours out of the city by train, and wouldn't want to get home real late. I'd also be interested in a Canal St. excursion to feed my new 'pooper-rep' habit. If anybody else was interested in perusing their wares, it'd be pretty easy to do Italian, seeing as Little Italy is right down the street. How 'bout the rest of you folks?

sssurfer: Great post. Great reference. Thanks!!!

I dunno. I probably would think you got a pretty good deal.

I had The Zigmeister replace the tube and crown on my TT Daytona with gen. Seemed pretty easy. At least for me. Parts were a littly pricey, being gold and all.

I didn't mind paying over $300 for my steelfish, but I doubt I'll go for a big bang. I'd like to get the IWC CD, but with all the issues about quality, I'll probably buy a gen. I know what I like, and what I'm willing to spend. I still think it's pretty amazing that you get anything at all, considering what can go wrong with the entire process. If I like it, and it is worth $nnn. to me I buy it. Rep or gen, doesn't matter. I won't spend a dime on a rep with a lot of issues, however. Been pretty lucky so far, I guess.

I seem to remember another attempt at a NYC area GTG, maybe on TRC, I can't be sure, but a few folks were interested. I don't believe it ever happened. I'd be in for any day except for July 15th. I'm in Jersey.

Yeah. You gotta watch those chronos. There's numerous posts here about using them correctly so you don't break the darn thing. I've got two Daytonas, one with seconds at six that's pretty wierd, but I never had a problem with the chronos. You just need to figure out what NOT to do with 'em.

Man is fined for bringing replica Rolexes into the USA
FWATCH replied to Wiss's topic in General Discussion
Maybe if he hadn't tried to bring 8 of 'em in, and was just wearing one, he would've been ok. But looks like it all got sorted out anyway. -
I'm waiting for the MBW rep of the ClownMaster I.

Sorry. Not wearing a warch this week.

Looking for a watch that goes best with business suit :)

TTK's 073. -
Thanks. It almost looks like a very little person with very small hands and an itsy-bitsy, teeny-tiny brush dabbed some superlume over some regular lume. Or maybe it's just a thin layer. I almost kinda like the way it looks.
-
Nice lume shots. It would be interesting to see a macro shot of the inner bezel lume to see why it looks "textured". Not all that offensive, IMHO, just different. Might have to get me one of these.

Nice pics. AR looks incredible.

Cool to see pix of gen innards. Not that I know what I'm looking at, but it's nice to see what level of quality a genuine one looks like. Great post.

sssurfer: OK. I'll concede that your first posted pic has "better" hands, and your second pic definitley has a "better" crown guard and your first pic I think has a "better" font. I think if you put the tiny hands on the second watch, you'd have a real "winner". I love the dial numbers on your middle yellow one. And the top yellow one has a certain "charm". dadog13: remind me never to wear this thing in public. In my excitement I forgot to post pix of the movement and buckle. Well, maybe I'll see if fliplockbuckle can mod this thing for me. I can see another trip to Canal St. in my immediate future. As I was being dragged away from the rep stands by my GF, I caught a quick glimpse of a Breitling that could be the "Best Ever", but I couldn't get a close look. It looked pretty swell from a distance, though. I'll be back.

So yesterday my girlfriend wanted to go to NYC to pick up some trinkets in Chinatown to accessorize her spring wardrobe and I figured it would be a good opportunity to check out what was shakin' in the cheap rep department on Canal Street. I was not dissappointed. They had 'em all, Pams, APs, IWCs, Cartiers,Hublots, Breitlings, Chanels, Rados, everyhing but Rolex on display in the street. To get a Rolex, you had to wait until one of the guys lurking about whispered "Rolex?". One guy had a crappy looking two tone blue sub for $75, but no way. After some looking around I spotted a PAM that caught my eye. It was unbelievable. I'm claiming temporary insanity, but I had to have it. After a little haggling, I parted with $40 for this beauty. Here's a close-up. Look at the features and attention to detail. Just for comparison, here it is with my Davidsen on a Don strap. Isn't she a beauty?
-
It's 22.11 mm, and came with the watch. Good thing, too. I ordered it without strap, and thought about the buckle later. Thankfully, Davidsen included the buckle. I've got a Don strap on order, and am about to become a strap junkie. Just what I need, another fetish.

I have a Daytona SS with seconds at six from EL and have worn it fairly regularly for over a year, and it is still working exactly the same as the day I got it. That is to say: 1.) I can't wind it manually. 2.) When I screw down the crown, it seems that the rotor spins, but doesn't really do anything. So to set the time, I have to shake it up a lot first, then wait for the seconds to get to twelve, pull out the crown and set the time. Then hope I do a lot of wrist shaking to keep it going. Other than that, it keeps pretty good time, chronos work accurately and smoothly, it's just a pain in the butt. I'll probably send it off to The Zigmeister for a look-see one of these days. Hope you have better luck. I could be happier.

Reached my limit about 10 years ago, but before I stopped, my fave was Herradura. Mission Street in San Francisco on Cinco de Mayo, ahh... the stories some people could tell. I couldn't because I can't remember. Good times.... :cc_confused:

He's probably working for Jetmid.

Anyone Else like to see Reps of these Porsche beauties?
FWATCH replied to solicitor's topic in Other Brands Area
Oh yeah. Very Porsche-ish.
