I guess I've come full circle. My first rep was a $20. sub Times Square special that I bought about 20 years ago. "Hey mister, wanna buy a watch?" My latest rep is a Davidsen 202a. An imposing piece. I don't know whether to keep it on my wrist or frame it and hang it on the wall. Since it's on my wrist already, I think I'll keep it there. I bought it without a strap, thinking that I would need to have a custom strap made on account of my skinny wrists. But, as it turns out, maybe not. I had a standard strap that came with a Panerai box set, so I put it on, just to check the strap size, and, as it turns out, the standard size strap is really comfortable with the buckle not in the middle of my wrist. So I guess I'll develop a strap fetish now that I've run out of reps to buy. Well, except for the Cousteau Divers. I'm really curious about what it is with these Panerais. When I first saw them, I thought they were downright ugly. Now I think they have a certain undefinable beauty. This is my third. I have a Regatta from King, an 050 from Andrew, and now, the cream of the crop, IMHO, the Davidsen. I had read all the reviews about Davidsen's watches, and finally decided it was time to have one. I might need more. I really need to stop buying these things, but, well, you know...... Anyway, some quick pics enclosed. I couldn't even take it off to take pics.

Yup. Slow here, too. I'm on broadband fiber, don't know how fast 'cause it's usually instantaneous. But not now.

Cool lookin' watches. Don't forget pix with review. -
I have a 39mm one. I don't know what particularly attracted me to this watch, but when I saw it, I had to have it. I guess the squareness, maybe, or the fact that I have skinny wrists, and it fits pretty good. I have the stainless one, no date, with black leather strap. Might have to get the PVD one too. I like it, even though it's not perfect.

Glad I'm not married. For lots of reasons. -
Well, thankfully I got to the end of this thread before the pics came up. Now where's my welding glasses?

If only they could put a million little LEDs in that Hublot, now that would be a watch.

I've got 2 Daytonas, one with seconds at 6 (can't wind it and setting time is wierd, but it keeps good time and the chronos are really smooth) that has been bad from day 1. Probably send it to The Zigmeister when I get around to it. The other Daytona has seconds at 9, but seconds sub-dial at 6, works fine, just replaced crown with gen crown and tube (thanks again, The Zigmeister) Both watches are about a year and a half old. I figure I'm just lucky that they're still working at all. Nice looking future paperweights, I guess. I would probably buy another 7750, but with seconds at 9, and it oughta be a real good lookin' rep or have some other can't do without it quaility.

I just wanted to publicly thank The Zigmeister for the recent repair of my beloved Daytona before the world explodes. And for all the great technical stuff he has posted on this and other sites. Not that I understand any of it, but he sure did a great job fixing my watch. THANKS A MILLION!

How 'bout we all get together and buy some superlume and send it to Angus?

23. Three from Canal St. and 20 from our dealers. My first rep was actually bought off the street about 20 years ago from a guy who said, "Hey mister, wanna buy a watch?". It's a TT Sub, quartz, and is still ticking. Spent $75 for the three of 'em, but not at the same time.

Yeah. White ink on a clear background. I tried lots of ways to do this until I went blind. But I'm pretty stubborn too. Will have to take some time off one of these days to try again. Also raised text, another monkey wrench in the ointment. I had some foil tape that gave a good chrome or gold effect when run through a laser printer, but I don't remember if it was raised or not. It was pretty cool. I still got it around here somewhere. But spending too much time buying reps to get back into the graphics stuff. I think if somebody had access to real printing machines and stuff, it probably wouldn't be too much of a problem, but I think we're basically talking desktop publishing stuff here, laser printers and inkjets. Maybe we're taking this too seriously. :cc_confused:

ME TOO!

When you scan the dial, you're gonna end up with a bitmap image. No matter high rez you scan at, it's not gonna look great when you print it. Zoom in to the image in Photoshop, and you'll see what I mean. What you need to do is save the bitmap that you got from the scan, and import it into a 'vector based drawing program' like CorelDraw or Adobe Illustrator. Use this bitmap as your base layer. On a second layer, you'll need to create vector images and text over the bitmap (using the second layer like transparent tracing paper). This'll take a little work on your part, but the results will be well worth the effort. Vector images will give you exceptionally crisp lines and text, no matter what the size. Then delete the bitmap layer when you are satisfied with the results and save it as a native vector image. Print that sucker at the highest output on your printer, and there you go.

Sorry about lack of pix. Will try to get to it this week. Strap could be better. Not sure if it is really leather, either. The reset problem seems to not be a real problem, or it is a very common issue with quartz watches. The watch repair person at the local mall fixed it so quickly, I hardly saw what he did. My SLK is silver. The watch will probably match my 928 Porsche better if I ever get around to finish the paint (silver/blue). Gotta stop buying reps, and get back to real life.

I like it. But then again, I like to stand behind diesel busses and inhale.

Welcome. I, too, first visited the scam sites in search of one rep. After much research, something just didn't seem right. They all looked the same. Same pictures, same idyllic reviews. Same pretty outrageous prices for their premium Italian replicas. But, alas, I knew nothing of reps. Finally stumbled across the first RWG site. The rest, as they say, is economics. Came for one, bought about 18, so far. Hang on to your wallet. Have fun.

Well, where exactly should I post this then.

I'd be in. I'm just north of Asbury Puke...er...Park.

I bought one recently with blue dial and blue strap just because I liked the way it looked. Didn't particularly care that it was quartz. I thought it was a fantasy watch because it wasn't in the latest product catalog I got from Mercedes Benz. OK, another reason is that I have a Mercedes SLK, and thought the watch would make me think about not buying any more reps so I could save some money and trade in the SLK for an SLR. Obviously, that was flawed logic. I like the watch a lot. The only problem I had was that the stopwatch hand was set (and would reset) to 1 second instead of 0. I took it to a local jeweler, and he pushed a bunch of buttons after pulling out the crown, and it was fixed. Wish I could remember what he did exactly. Didn't cost anything for the service. I think I'll put it on my wrist today, and try to not purchase any reps. Probably not going to happen.
