Falco replied to rolli's topic in The Panerai Area
Again Rolli, just magnificent! I think you are a rep dealers wet dream -
you crack me up offshore Third base?? and thanks Verbal

raq9fx plz consider after opening the watch up and drying it, to waterproof it. if there's a leak it possibly could ruin the movement and dial it's an mbw right? fitting an o-ring under crystal and gluing it w/ hypocement (just a tiny bit so it don't pour into the dial area) and also silicon grease ALL o-rings is sufficient in my opinion remember to remove all o-rings and grease them (tiny amount, no surplus) and not just paint them w/ grease and toothpick to tighten the case invest in proper rolex casebackopener (not rubber one) since it will allow you to tighten the case even harder

wow, hope everyone gets at least one, I can't wait amazing initiative and effort, this is great for the forum

Hang on to those Ubi, those are superb better frankens than that are not possible
-
look exactly like the MBW I got before taking it into pieces, even got the MBW oyster bracelet Never bought anything from watchmaster but some say its the same some say not. Open the case and see if its a 2846 or 2836 inside, some say wm fit 2846 inside Edit: Why are you selling this? the watch could be something you could work on and treasure for years

real nice!! The GMT matches the cars in your garage
-
thanks guys for the nice feedback

nice work stilty, real nice! change that nato and I'd steal it from you when you're not watching if you're worried about hands; don't drink coffee, scrape that lume and repaint using mixed acrylic colours with the amount of luminous material you think match the dial. I've tried that, check out my 5512 post if you like. Anyways I like the hands you're using and wouldn't worry about it, gens are not matching completely w/ dial/hands anyway
-
so nice to see you servicing the movement yourself, don't need loupes for the 6497 , and nice strap too
-
Holy banana, Rolli you're better panerai stocked than most AD's Please pin Rolli's post for later reference

one of these or I might even dig up one of my Panerais

thewightstuff, I forgot to mention its a relumed genuine vintage rolex dial from a reputable seller. You're partly right about the dials, gen 1680 dial is to wide to fit the MBW case, needs trimming but I've tried one 5512 dial and one 5513 dial (another of my projects) and both do not drop through however they can move around sideways just a tiny half a milimeter or so. Not a problem anyways, if it should turn out so I'll just put a tiny ring of silicon glue between case and dial interface. I'm assuming there's discrepency between MBW cases (they're not made with rolex swiss quality control ). Oh, about lug text 5513 or 5512 on the case, well it still going to say Polex too if that bugs someone erase/polish bit of the text out and possibly re-engrave or even better get a custom MBW w/ independent serial nr, correct Rolex spelling etc (wouldn't that be nice) EDIT: nobody noticed the crystal? it's the sexy dome style
-
Thanks! MBW uses the same 5513 case for 1680, 5512, 5513 and is marked 5513. However inside the caseback it's marked 5512 which is good. No problems fitting any gen parts into MBW case, everything just drops in. Dial feet needs to be cut unfortunately, and tapping tube (and countersinking) hole is necessary due to some residue glue.

After all your nice feedback for my MBW 1680, here's my MBW 5512 for you to see; Gen vintage dial Gen vintage insert Gen insert dot Gen vintage Dome crystal Gen vintage crown Gen new tube Gen springbars Aftermarket/rep bracelet hollow link 93150 (pretty close) Fitted ETA 2846 for more accurate beat Drilled lugholes, filed crownguards and smoothed/rounded case Painted MBW hands to match vintage dial-lume colour Glued crystal together with crystal o-ring and greased all other o-rings to waterproof Again all mods done by me. Planned: upgrade w/ part to skip date-set function in stem, fit correct 580 gen endlinks

I'm sorry Tourby for forgetting about you. I'll send you a pm first next time I need to stock up on parts . Eirik; About cousins uk, I've had an account with them before I even went into reps, they're great and ship same day. I'm not in the uk, but still buy mainly from them If you still want to buy from Ofrei (and not from tourby or cousins), they are very unreliable, also often very slow shipping. However, they're in the US that's why I listed them. This is just my experience.
-
email your dealer first, especially davidsen and josh has helped my out for free before. if that doesn't work call cousins uk or email ofrei usa (do NOT mention it's for a rep, just quote movement type)

Well spoken gioarmani enjoy the weekend everyone -
could be an interesting read: http://journal.hautehorlogerie.org/en/echo...recherche=china http://culture.hautehorlogerie.org/en/haut...iting-1832.html EDIT: don't miss the video on second thread also a picture there of our watchsmiths

very nice and very expensive. looks great, treasure it well
-
wouldn't worry about the crystal, just makes it look more vintage and worn, nice character touch
-
not my point, threads about how to break the law and deceive customs is not going to lengthen any forums lifespan problem in this case is that davidsen uses big green chinese boxes that stick out like a sore thumb among all the white letter mail
-
very nice, especially that you did the crystal yourself. find that one of the trickiest thing to do on a 1680 congrats
