  1. Hey all, I'm trying to source a set of Rolex service 1665 hands with no luck. Biggest hurdle so far is getting the service part number for the hands: Apparently naming the model ISN'T ENOUGH I've been googling like crazy for the past couple of days with no results, does anyone have access to a Rolex service part number...guide?
  2. Appreciated jmb, but I'd rather work directly from a scan - this will ensure no numbers are misaligned/skewed even a little.
  3. That will definitely work - I just need a scan of the entire wheel. Do you still have the scanned file from your flat top eta dwo project?
  4. Does anyone have a 1570 flat top 3's datewheel I could purchase/borrow? I just purchased a 1570 movement, but am a bit discouraged due to the lack of decent aftermarket options at the moment. WSO aka Mr. Slimeball is the only person I see selling them... If I could borrow someone's datewheel (or maybe someone could send me a scanned file of theirs) I would throw it into illustrator, create a vector file, and get some manufactured in silver
  5. UPDATE #6 Films have been made! Each color warrants the creation of a separate film. In total, 9 films were created in the past two days. For dials requiring 2 colors, each film will be lined up with one another to ensure a picture perfect print (especially in the case of the Comex dial). Naturally, the next step in the process will be printing! Stay tuned for more updates! - Whoop
  6. What do you guys think? Gen? Phong/Minh? Cartel? - ok maybe not the last one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rolex-1665-casebody-used-/300924332213?pt=AU_Watches&hash=item46107ce8b5
  7. Updates indeed! UPDATE #5 Dials arrived at the factory yesterday. Film (a negative of sorts) based off of the corel draw files I mentioned earlier will be created for each dial on Monday-Tuesday. I have not been informed of EXACTLY how long printing will take (after the films have been made), but the whole process so far has been very quick and professional. To me, this phrase, "quick and professional" doesn't crop up often in this hobby, so I'm delighted with the progress thus far. Also, 200th post! More updates as I get them! - whoop
  8. Please do! I wanted to make a more accurate version of this (as the ndt/yuki versions aren't great), but couldn't find any high resolution pictures. Haven't seen the Minh version, is it pretty accurate?
  9. I like the white/creamy original dial the best. What Comex 1665 dial will you be using?
  10. Welcome to the forum Tex! Parts can be found from a variety of sources. These are a few places you can start with: http://www.rwgforum.net/forum/59-tools-parts/ http://www.helenarou.com/ http://www.rafflestime.com/servlet/StoreFront
  11. UPDATE #4 We're getting closer! Just made the first of 2 payments to the dial factory + shipped out the custom gen spec dials. I've been busy the last few days creating the appropriate files for the dial factory to use for production. Coreldraw is a common vector program used by many factories in China. I created all of the dial designs using illustrator, so each file needed to be converted accordingly. This required me to purchase Coreldraw and after several frustrating hours of digging through illustrator/Coreldraw forums I was able to do the necessary conversions (you wouldn't believe how different the 2 programs are). After using the random number generator here: http://www.this-play.nl/randomnumber/ The 2 isostyle strap winners are: 14. CptTripps 10. dieselpower I will ship your straps asap! stay tuned for more updates - whoop
  12. 20 orders were needed to fund the printing: more than 20 dials will be printed in this order. Factories have a MOQ (minimum order quantity), while my quantity still falls short of the average moq (200), my printing contact has a good relationship with a factory and convinced them to print the order.
  13. The original preorder list was put together in an effort to fund the printing of 7 designs. At this time, anyone is welcome to preorder dials to ensure that they receive a dial, as I'm only printing 1 batch, but the raffle will only include the original members who preordered. In short, yes you can preorder this dial - just pm me. - whoop
  14. UPDATE #3 Still waiting on the remaining preorderer, and then things will move forward. I have also decided to change the 5513 dial in the lineup (it was originally going to be 1 color - white ink). I designed it using an HD reference picture of a 5513 gilt dial: the final product will be real gilt (not golden ink). These will end up being $190 methinks. Gen for comparison: http://rolexpassionmarket.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/5513gilt19653.jpg stay tuned, - whoop
  15. Update #2: 15 orders have been completed - just need 1 more to launch! - rower Please reply so we can get this started - whoop
  16. UPDATE: As of now, 11 orders have been completed. Once the remaining 5 have been logged, I will send the custom brass dials to the printing factory. In addition, once the rest of the orders have been confirmed, I will be raffling off two 20mm isofrane-type bands to the preorder-ers who have helped realize this project! 18. Dials have already been custom made: gen dial diameter/datewindows with eta feet. Odds are slim. While I'll be ordering more than 20 dials with this batch, the only designs I will be producing are the aforementioned 7. Considering I started this project in January, and don't have an acceptable product (dial) in my hand by now, makes me not want to repeat this arduous process. Again, if I can rally up 20 orders for dials by this coming thursday, I will be able to use the preorder's to fund the dial printing. If not, I'll not be continuing with this project. - whoop
  19. 1. 5517 (26.5mm) $165 2. 1016 (28mm) $180 3. 5514 comex (26.5mm) $165 4. 5513 meters first (26.5mm) $165 5. 1680 red mk 3 (26.5mm) $180 6. 1665 drsd mk 2 (26.5mm) $180 7. 1680 white mk 1 (26.5mm) $180 Please read the available lineup: there is no meters first white 1680 dial. (pictures of dials on page 5 of thread). No tropical finished dials will be available, sorry Please add to the list! If this isn't organized it simply won't happen. So far the list is: 1. 1x 1680 red mk 3 (26.5mm) dial - Aero_Dave 2. 1x 5517 2x 5514 - torresp 3.
  20. Unfortunately, I've already completed the artwork that will be used in the printing of the dials: unless it's on the list it won't be produced. I'm going to give this preorder 1 week. If x20 dial orders (pledges) can be made by then, this project can become a reality, otherwise I will be shutting it down. Please add to Aero_dave's list on this thread if you want these to be produced! - whoop
  21. UPDATE NUMERO 2! After experimenting over the last 2 weeks with my current pad printing setup, I have come to the conclusion that I will have to outsource the printing. There are too many problems I'm encountering because the lack of an automated press. I have found an outsourcer to print the dials as of yesterday, but find myself in a position where I cannot solely fund the dial printing anymore. If I can get x20 dial preorders, I can push forward and ship the dials to the printer and have them printed. The dial's I have available for pre-ordering are the following: 1. 5517 (26.5mm) $165 2. 1016 (28mm) $180 3. 5514 comex (26.5mm) $180 4. 5513 meters first gilt (26.5mm) 5. 1680 red mk 3 (26.5mm) $180 6. 1665 drsd mk 2 (26.5mm) $180 I have a 6538 dial pictured which will sadly not get produced due to a mix up on gen-spec dial size (I thought it was 26.5mm - it's actually 27mm). These all have gen-spec diameters, eta feet, and custom fonts that I spent HOURS upon HOURS tracing/converting/creating from numerous high resolution sources. I'm not sure of the protocol when "preorders" are involved in a thread, so if you're a mod/admin, please contact me! - whoop (below is a snapshot of the lineup - keep in mind it's a jpg: each dial was created via vector in illustrator)
