Omega PO 42.5 Asian 21J... can I drop an ETA 2892 inside?
triplehd replied to vmena's topic in General Discussion
But he can buy gen hands to fit the movment. As for the feet, cant he clip the feet and glue the dial to the movement holder? -
I know I can upgrade to a DG4813, but wouldnt mind getting something close to an ETA movement. I would love to get my hands on some Clone 2824s or Seagull movements.
-
I want to upgrade my SMP from its current movement - DG2813 to either a DG413 or an Asian ETA clone. On Ofrei's site, there's a movement - Certina 25-021 that has the same specs of an ETA 2824. Certina 25-021 11 1/2 Ligne Date @3 hand hole sizes 90/150/25 $65 ETA 2824-2 11.5 ligne, 25 jewels, Date @ 3 Hand sizes 90/150/25, 28,800 BPH. $145-$160 Im not sure about the Jewels or the BPM on the Certina, but can it be considered a reliable sub for the ETA 2824?

Omega SMP Quartz Project Completed! (Review and Comparison)
triplehd replied to marrickvilleboy's topic in The Omega Area
Marrick- Always great to see your finished Omega projects ! Congrats. Awesome watch and wear it well. -
I know the Clarks does not have any etching at all but is the mag on the Clarks better than the mag on the W9's crystal?
-
I have PT's Ultimate/W9 Sub (without the engravings). I know the early versions had the etch crown very visible with the naked eye. Mine isnt that bad, hardly noticable, but then again, I dont have the best eyesight. Question - is the Clark's crystal better than the W9 crystal? Is the mag better on the Clarks?
-
dl- to fit a gen crown - did you have to get a gen tube as well or does the gen crown fit perfectly on with the rep tube? Also - same with the HE valve?
-
Damn Marrick - what's your secret for sourcing some of these Omega reps ?!?!?!?

Do Quartz Omega Reps (Specifically 007/Seamasters) Exist?
triplehd replied to cenerhimself's topic in The Omega Area
Havent seen any quartz for any of the non-chrono Omegas - only the Chronos have I seen come in quartz. Atleast with the quartz - you have the correct space dialing for the 3,6,9 layout. -
Welcome. 2 things to do: Explore and Search Good luck and enjoy the ride.
-
Good luck with Dallas customs.
-
Do a search on customs SF and another on customs Lax or simply customs. There were some threads back in the day that going through LAX or SF usually has no issues, but thought I read that there was an issue at one of these sites.

Its nice that some members are finally receiving their watches and/or crystals back. That shouldnt excuse Jakub from coming on here and explaining his actions to everyone. If he cant do that, he could atleast send a PM to the Admins explaining the situation.
-
Yeah, you're not gonna get the same type of reps that you find here on Canal Street. I look at those reps similiar to novelty items or souvenirs. That's all.
-
Agreed. We have seen it many times when someone has a flawed transaction, the first couple of posts are: 1 - "Did you contact the modder/dealer/member before making this post?" 2 - "I never had an issue with that modder/dealer/member" 3 - "Contact that modder/dealer/member - they'll make it right." And so on...... I think from now on, as Andreww mentioned above, lets have cooler heads and get all the facts together before crucifying a member with a complaint. Lesson learn - that one complaint can save MANY members from having the same results sadly, as with this issue with Jakub.
-
Also, I dont understand, why certain members from the States or Canada would send their watches and/or crystals around the world when you have someone right here in the States who is always on the board, well-known and established and is usually on the board on a daily basis. I realize that it would be alot easier for members in EU to send to Jakub since its closer than sending it to Cheif, but just curious why NA members didnt go to Chief? Not trying to stir the pot or anything, just curious - that's all.

Unfortunately, there are 1 major point that I see coming out of this: You simply cannot protect yourself 100% from being scammed. Be it from this hobby or any hobby, eBay, craigslist, etc. or anything in life, its simply impossible to be immune from being scammed atleast once in one's life. No one likes to be scammed ( I was scammed last year around this time from a member on RWI - he sold me and chickenchunkie the same MBW, took our money, and never shipped out a watch). As for speaking out, yes, many members are fearful of the retaliation from other members if they speak out. Maybe this is a good time to come up with some new guidelines on how a member or members can speak up against modders, dealers or other member dealings without being fearful? Just my two cents.
-
I doubt that they will come out with a new 42 PO. If they do, Im sure, just like other models, one step forward, 2 steps back (hence, 4-5 versions). Just like the UPO, do the following: - Gen Dial - Gen hands - Cheif Double A/R crystal - Swap pearls from the UPO and the PO inserts Bracelet is an issue - we all know that. Go ahead and grab a gen rubber strap or even nato strap. There - you got the Ultimate PO 42mm version.

How to change a datewheel on a DG4813
triplehd replied to triplehd's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Is an overlay the same as a datewheel? If it is, wouldn't that interfer once you place the dial over the movement plate? BTW - I was able to swap datewheels, but when attempting to chagne the date, the part on the movement that is supposed to move the datewheel is not moving. Maybe due to the fact that I have extra parts may have something to do with it ?!?!? Its on its way to Vac for some much needed help. -
LR - What's the verdict on the SFSO? Does the bezel need to be removed?
-
I wouldnt blame any member or members if they decided to file a Paypal dispute. Why lose money and a watch(es) ?

How to change a datewheel on a DG4813
triplehd replied to triplehd's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Thanks for the quick reply. Im gonna give it a shot. If I can't figure it out, I'll send it away for the swap. -
Just got 2 brand new DG4813 movements - but they came with white datwheels (w/black numerals). I need to swap out the datewheel with a black datewheel. Problem is - I have no clue how to remove the datewheel. Any clues?

If he can send e-mails to a few members, why cant he spend 5 minutes explaining to everyone: 1-current situation 2-the resolution 3-next steps 4-status If he could do that, Im sure that would clear up few things or two - IMHO.
