Yeah, I would often post on that forum with no or little response...good board but not enough traffic...
  4. I was changing the strap on my 112h and realized that 1 of the 2 screws was missing from the crown guard. I found some on ebay from jimmyzfu and wanted to know if anyone has had experience with these, will they fit our reps? thanks
  5. My fav at the moment...
  6. Hello and welcome to the fourm.
  7. Ok, I'll use them...my holes are kind of flattened out because the strap is brand new and hasn't been mounted yet...
  8. well, I'm not sure if this means I should use them or not but the holes in the strap for the bracelet seem to be a bit to small. I could probably shove the tube in there but then there would be a big bulge from the tube...I dunno? Perhaps I'll give it a shot.
  9. Just to clarify about the modding of the bezel insert, all modern models including mbw & cn do not accept gen inserts without some modding. I haven't owned a mbw but I have yet to hear of anyone fitting a gen insert into one without modding it first. It could be but I just haven't heard of it yet. I had a cn model from josh which was my first sub and it had to be modded just like the tw... After looking at these photos though it's apparent that the crown does sit too low in our reps...and of course we all know that the bezel is just a touch smaller than the gen bezel...which accounts for an ever so slighty larger gap between the edge of the bezel and the top of the crown...the latter pics really capture this gap well. The gap is smaller than that on our reps due to the above mentioned two factors...not a big deal though, I still love my sub.
  10. thanks for the insight...should I use tubes in my MP strap though.
  11. Any standard watch repair shop or jewelry store should carry these 22mm spring bars. The thin ones, which are more common, are the ones you want if your bracelet is not drilled to accept gen bars. If your bracelet is drilled, then you want to get the heavy duty 22mm bars...like the ones for Seiko diving watches/straps...I've got a watch shop near me that carries them and charges around $3 each.
  12. would one recommend using tubes with MP straps?
  13. I still love it though...the quality is amazing...hand made straps at their finest.
  14. received the mp XI ambra and it's amazing...it's about 3.5mm though, is that normal for MP straps 3-4mm?
  15. I got it now...I tried some heavy duty 22mm spring bars that are in my tissot but I've got to shave the shoulders off because the arms of the spring bars need to go in all the way in order to get it between the 20mm lugs and they can't because of the arms. I'll have to pick up another pair though because I don't want to ruin these...The main body of the 22mm spring bars is acutally 20mm which makes this possible...this is what confused me before because I thought the body should have been 22mm...the gen rolex spring bars are about 19-20mm which leave no room for play. This is what makes them such a [censored] to get in. It looks as though this will work though...and the ends of the bars should come right to the end of the lug holes...like they should be.
  16. sounds like you've had a bad day with you tw. Fortunately for me I had my lug holes drilled for me but person who did it had a hard time getting everything to line up too. I had to do some dremeling to get the bracelet to fit right. With gen spring bars the room for play is much smaller than with the skinny spring bars. The end link needs to be lined up perfectly for them to go in correctly. That little lip at the bottom of the end link needs to be shortened...BTW, don't you mean 20mm spring bars?
  17. I would be interested indeed. Shoot me a pm.
  18. I really appreciate your feedback. Does anybody know when the divers extension mech changed to the current one we have now?
  19. All of the subs you guys have posted are superb...mine is still a work in progress but I appreciate the compliments. Really the finishing touch for my sub will be the loose end links, 93150/580. Here are a few more poor pics...I really need a better camera.
  20. Did the bracelets with the hollow end links/fold over ever come with the new diver extension clasp? Or did they come with the older style clasp? Like the one offered on our rep hollow link bracelets? I'm not talking a vintage sub but like a 16800 or 16610. thanks
  21. Just a quick update, I decided to go with the Mario Paci XI Tan Ambra. It was really between MP and MF with a small consideration to Greg Stevens but I think his straps are just too thick for me. I think the MP XI will be good though, I like that it will gain more and more patina over time. I originally wanted the Decima in light brown but they are out of stock. I think the Xi will do, what do you think?
  22. If you don't mind a little epoxy in your vodka, you can pound it and really celebrate. This is so true, it's really not a tough mod...just really time consuming. You must exercise a lot of patience...sand and test, sand and test. You always end up taking off just a bit more. It really feels good to contribute something...give back to the forum. I've spent so much time here over the last year, learned tons. It was well worth the time & effort
  23. Yeah I know It's on my 'to-do' list. It's also still got the solid mid links too..it's the tw bracelet but the sels are already drilled so I'm just going to wear it for a while as is...Only notciable if the watch comes off the wrist and to be honest, for those non forum member, average joes, who spot that flaw, right on.
  24. Thanks Rob. Yeah, I definitely knicked up the lugs a little bit but I don't mind. It gives the sub a bit of character as I'm going for at circa late 80's early 90's look. Doing a couple DYI post really makes me appreciate all the time you put in to your post...this is not easy and is very time consuming. So thank you for your comments.
