  1. Here are some pics...click to enlarge
  2. I think we're establishing that our UPOs don't have the 2824 but in fact have the 2842. The pause that Vienna thought he saw was probably just the 21600 or 6 beats/second playing tricks on the eyes...The sweep is rather rough on my UPO and doesn't appear to be consistent though it probably is more so than I think.
  3. I just popped the case back on my UPO and the movement appears to be stamped ETA 2842 which would explain the slow beat. It's my understanding that the ETA 2842 runs at 21600 vph. Though the 2842 is an decent movement, I'm a bit disappointed that it's in my UPO. Some how it doesn't seem so Ultimate anymore. I was under the impression it was going to come with the 2824 running at 28800k and it's now apparent that wasn't the case. I'll get pics posted as soon as my camera finishes charging.
  4. Well this is all too interesting. I noticed on the first UPO I received from PT that the sweep was considerably slower than that of my sub & Tissot seastar. That one had a cosmetic defect so I returned it for a replacement which just arrived last week and the same slower sweeping second hand is evident on this UPO as well. The sweep is considerably slower, just by looking at it I'd say closer to 21.6k than 25.2k or 28.8k. I will do my best to get the case back open and get pictures posted here. Hopefully The Zigmeister can take a look and tell us what he thinks.
  5. This timing of this thread is impeccable. I have been eying the slow beat movement of my PO for a while now and just 2 minutes ago finally put it to my ear with my ETA sub to my other ear and determined the UPO was definitely slower. I just sat down to do some research on this very subject and this thread was at the top of the Omega section...my UPO is from Precious Time too.
  6. You have no idea how hard that comment hits home...that hurts. But you're right.
  7. Just referenced a pic of a gen 250 and it's sub dials seem to be a bit recessed. Am I imagining this in my head or is there a difference in sub dial depth between the ETA & Asian movements? @ kruzer, very nice my friend. Am I right in assuming the stock daylight reps do not come with ar, I've looked around and haven't found any descriptions that state otherwise.
  8. Well I'm not quite sure what the 212 was going for. I know it was over $10k I wanna say around $12k but just not sure. I know the 183 was around $4500. I suppose their prices aren't as reasonable as say the sales corner at TZ or Paneristi, but for a watch shop of their caliber and the fact that they offer a 1 year warranty on every pre-owned watch, I thought their prices were decent. That is only on the few models I checked so perhaps I spoke too soon. Carlsbadrolex, you should definitely head down there though...just a short jaunt from your neck of the woods. Are you really going to wear your 188 though? Let me know how that goes.
  9. So a new Tourneau opened up today in San Diego and I just happed to be at the mall today so I stopped buy. It's probably not as large as some of the other locations (boutique size really) but it was stocked to the brim with watches...and sales associates. They must of had about 25 sales associates stuffed in that little space which couldn't have been larger than 400sf. I'm sure it was just for the openning day as that would be mental on a daily basis. I know what you all are thinking but no, I did not wear a rep into the store. I was wearing my PT UPO but I stuffed it into my pocket before entering. For those of you who have never been (like myself until today), it is quite an experience. They literally have every model you can imagine and then some. But what caught my attention and where I spent most of my time was the pre-owned section. It was by far the largest pre-owned section I have seen in any watch store. They probably had about 100-150 watches in case. And they were reasonably priced to boot. Though this particular location does not carry pams, they had a pre-owned Ferrari, 183, and 212. They had tons of Breitlings including a Seawolf for $2100 which I checked out. And of course, several Rollies including a LV, couple of no dates, GMT, etc. Lots of good eye candy. But to the heart of why I'm writing this thread, I handled several watches in there and it hit me as I was doing so, the reps we've got these days are getting so close it's scary. As if you needed me to tell you that. I mean, I had an EL 183 a while back and while I was handling that 183 today, I was comparing it to my 183 and it struck me as being very similar. Of course the finish of the movement is far superior on the gen but comparing it to some of the 183s out there now, it's insanely close. If I were holding them side by side, it would be hard for even me to differentiate. Of course I talking about a modded 183, not stock. With the Seawolf, the same deal for those of you lucky enough to have the closed factory model. I had a visual of the PO on my way out and with exception to the pearl, virtually identical in every way. I had a look at the ar at different angles and I want to say that although I know it's stronger than the stock UPO, it's not much more noticeably so. I know there are those who will disagree with me and that I must handle the gen to make such a statement but looking at it there in the case, I wasn't blown away. Guess my point is, I don't know how I could ever justify spending the $$$ on gens with the quality of reps we have. So there it is, just a quick note about my visit. Thanks for reading.
  10. At pbe & dluddy, beautiful straps...
  11. fishgodeep, very nice my friend, nice detailed pics. The crown has obviously been modded. Looks like a possible lume job too? Am I right in saying the sub dials are more recessed on the asian models than the ETA models? If so, how much of a noticeable flaw is this?
  12. It'd be interesting to know which are 7750 and which are 7753...is there much of a difference besides the movement and the price? Beautiful pics by the way.
  13. Anyone???
  14. I've been seriously tempted to invest in a Daylight but it'd be nice to see some of your pics for reference. I searched thread after thread last night for pics but I was left wanting more. I know you've got 'em...now it's time to show 'em. Please add comments if you wish. Thanks
  15. All of Davidsen's pams come with his standard mods at the very least. Check his section for more details.
  16. I know some of the dealers stock them, just check their sites...there was a nice pre-owned 210 for sale over at trc for a while. It was posted for a long time but eventually sold. I still kick myself for not picking it up but I just couldn't part with the funds at that time. They're out there though. I thought I saw one from Davidsen but you should check with him.
  17. So if I wanted to swap the rep insert for a gen insert, I would just need to snap off the rep pearl tube which is glued to the rep bezel? I always thought it was all the same metal. This is good news.
  18. Very nice work!!! Quick question about the insert, did it come with the pearl or is the pearl attached to the bezel. The only reason I ask is it looks like there is a pearl in the gen insert you sanded down.
  19. Just looking for a few more options for my UPO. The bracelet is fantastic but I'd like to also have a high quality strap to dress it up a little. Only problem is my wrist are thicker than the average man at 8.5 inches. I've been searching for a croc/leather strap that will fit my wrist but have found only a couple of options. Any suggestions?
  20. Beautiful work Rob...that vintage lume work you do is so original.
  21. Sorry I missed it. These GTG are great because in addition to meeting some fellow watch aficionados, you get to have a look at tons of watches...many of which you may have been thinking about getting yourself. It's like you get to sample them all...
  22. yeah, that is a nice looking watch...love the base models and the white face too!
  23. I don't get it
  24. How does the size of the rep 100 chrono compare to the gen? I've seen the gen 100 chrono and it is a monster! Haven't seen the rep in person but all of the dealers descriptions put it at 44mm or at least that's what I remember when it first came out. Can anyone comment? Thanks
  25. Just a thought, try clarks. some of the best inserts at the best prices.
