@ nanuq I have had a few Bunn Specials in, and love them, they are amazing watches. The Howard is beautiful as well. @rmsherry Eventually it's going to find it's way into a wrist hommage watch of some sort, I just haven't had the time to source a case dial etc...if you have a spare wheel I would gladly put it aside until I get this one finished. Any watch material supply house will carry balance staff's, they are very easy to find. RG

It seems like deja vu all over again. Same pattern as with other modders who have gone bad, no emails, no calls, no visits to the forum, members who's watches have been held for weeks and even months... I see the exact same situation that has taken place before, with RBJ, Finepics, TWP, NAVIGATEUR, etc...same pattern to me means the same thing will happen at the end of this. Maybe members should be warned to STOP sending anything to K2222 until this is all worked out and fixed. Until those here who have missing watches are returned their watches, RWG should warn everyone about K2222. At least that is how I see it based on the comments on the last two pages. RG

Great job and nice pictorial. I have seen a number of these with the pearl attached and part of the bezel assembly. Can't remember exactly which models, but I have seen it a few times. Thanks for the info. RG

Agree, assembly error, but not something that should happen, especially for a sales picture I agree that the finish in this area is rough, and the 727 looks odd as does the missing "R" denoting a Valjoux. I am thinking that this was a whatever brand of V72, the existing makers marks were removed, 727 added after. Maybe this accounts for the bad finish in this area. I am bothered by the small details, that are identical to the V72's I have seen and compared to my reference pics. Even the fine polishing and hardening of the screws is there, along with the same colour bearing material in the various pivots etc, finish of the gears etc is all screaming V72. I see to many things that look right, compared to those that look wrong, which is why I think it's a genuine one. But unless someone picks one up, we'll probably never know... RG

I find that this one looks wrong because I have never seen so much copper coloured wheels and arms...your original picture looks more "right" than this one. Did you note that on nanuq's picture that the reset hammer spring is not assembled correctly, it's on the wrong side of the hammer pin, compare to yours which is correct. I am still confused and amazed by your original picture, too many fine details look genuine and definetly not chinese, but the balance throws it all out the window, there were no glycudure balances when the V23 and V72's were in production, at least not to my knowledge... EDIT>>>>> I spoke too soon...just had a look at my archives of the V72's I have serviced, your balance with those arms is a Valjoux part, so that throws that thought out the window... If I have time tomorrow, I'll post some detailed pics of different V72's I have for ref, I still think it's a genuine movement, but wonder where the "R" is located. RG

Great responses, I certainly think the interest is there for a GTG somewhere in the spring. I'll know more at that time. You are correct, when I am finished the lume does look more like the right hand picture in the reference. I am not sure how they coated the sides of the cutouts and the bottom with only a small amount of lume. Since I am doing this by hand, the only way I can apply the lume is to do what you see in the pictures. You have to also consider that as soon as you apply the first drop of lume, you have about 30 seconds to a minute to finish it all. The lume starts to dry and get difficult to move after it's put down. So what I do is fill each cutout, and as I do I pull the lume up to coat the sides, and since the lume shrinks as it dries, once it's dry it sinks down and looks like it should look. It's never easy to do the same thing as the factory did, especially when it's done by hand and not a machine. RG

Well I had a good look in detail at the movement, and I think it's a genuine V72. Maybe not originally a Rollie one, but I do think it's pure V72. I say this for a number of reasons, mostly to me it's in the small details: High polishing on the screws and various pieces Hammer pivot has the copper coloured bearing like the genuine one 30 minute transfer gear has the brass bearing like the genuine one, and note the high quality of the fit and finish Slight screwdriver marks on the 30 minute centering spring, which tells me this has been adjusted a few times The fit and finish of all the various gears and parts looks just like the V23/72's I have seen. I don't understand why someone doesn't start up production of the V23/72 again, even the spare parts alone would pay for the tooling...and the patent has long expired, the V23 came out in the 1930's for god's sake... Great feedback, thanks everyone. As for the particular's on each watch, I dont' know a thing on either...maybe the owner will offer some info. The lume on the left one with the numbers written out, is my standard mix of vintage Tritium with C1 as the base. The one on the right is my standard tritium mix as well, but with some added colours to match the pictures I was sent for reference. As for the glow, it's not very good, C1 is weaker than C3, and as soon as you add the colouring to make the vintage look, the glow is much less. But since this is supposed to duplicate aged tritium that is ok. Just a bit of background on my tritium mix, since I have had a number of vintage watches in house with real aged tritium on the dials, including PAM's and Rollie's etc, the mix I have come up with matches those genuine dials I have seen in person. I also have had a number of dials and hands that I have bought and stripped the tritium from and put aside for reference when I mix up my own. If I have a picture of a certain look that someone is wanting, as was the case in the right sub with the sword hands, then I try and match it up as best I can. The real difficulty is trying to produce a variation in the colour of each lume dot as I have done on some models, this is extremely difficult to do and even harder to do consistantly. RG

I did it once, and was promplty banned and excommunicated. Don't worry about the negative comments, although "dude" is quite harsh, me thinks maybe someone lives on a "dude" ranch... It doesnt' matter that this was taken from another source, I never read that you claimed to write it, only that you were posting it for the communtiy. Some folks don't think much of RWG and only come here to try and stir things up, ignoring them like a bad virus is the best approach... RG

Congrats on the new place, the upside to moving is that you tend to throw out stuff you have accumulated since the last move. Can't wait to see more pics in the great light, enjoy the patio. RG
