  1. Thank you everyone for the kind words. Yes it does look a lot worse than it is, and my vision is still 100% this morning so I have no worries about any eye damage. The cornea is fine and the blood is limited to the white (red) part of my eye and only external. Slept quite well propped up with an ice pack on the eye, although it still looks about the same this morning, the good news is that it appears to have stopped bleeding. So all is well, I am in no pain, although my eye feels irritated and I want to scratch it (but won't) so it's just a matter of time until the blood gets absorbed back into the eye. Until then, I think I'll go scare that little brat kid next door that has been pulling flowers out of my front garden... RG
  2. @ dluddy Where is Holloween when you need it, or a Marilyn Manson concert ... What the picture doesn't show well is that the red area is so swollen with blood that it looks like a donut with my cornea in the center... Time will tell how it goes, hopefully I can get a full night sleep, I am just afraid that it's going to burst from the swelling. RG
  3. I injured my right eye at work today, with of all things - my new reading glasses. While trying to remove my glasses, one of the arms hung up and snapped back into my right eye, breaking a major blood vessel. I work about 35km from any major hospital so it was a very nerve wracking drive - alone - as my eye was filling up with blood and my vision was going blurry... I picked up Jennifer along the way and she drove the last 5km in to emergency, needless to say I was quite shaken up when I finally arrived (not from Jennifer's driving, but from my eye injury).. Once you see the damage to my eye, you will understand that for the next while I am not going to be capable of any watch work. If you are squemish or don't like the sight of blood, please don't scroll down and look at the picture, it's not a pretty sight. It's been a long day, and not a fun one at that. Here's hoping that it gets better before it gets worse. I chose one of the less gruesome pictures so I wouldn't gross everyone out. I'll apologize here if this offends anyone. RG
  4. Copy movement, all of it...even the stamps if you look closely are actually engraved or inked, not a die mark like the ETA. RG
  5. Sandwich crystal, it can't be done. RG
  6. Thanks for the kind words FGD. Wear them in good health. RG
  7. Try Tom Highway, I think he is here on RWG...if I remember...and in the UK. RG
  8. You can't over wind any watch, it is impossible. On a handwind PAM, you wind until it stops and you can't possibly wind the watch anymore. Overwinding is a old wives tale and myth... There is somthing else wrong with the watch, best to have someone knowledgeable with movements have a look and sort it out. RG
  9. Well given all the problems you have had going and coming, maybe another option is to fix it... RG
  10. I would venture to say that the hand twitches on the way down i.e. when the hand is heading the same way as gravity it twitches, but when it's going against gravity its' steady. Indirect drive and common problem on any indirect center seconds model. There is a small spring that holds the back of the pinion seconds gear in place, this could be an issue, more likely there is no oil on the spring and pivot and it's got no drag and this is a problem, or there is wear between the driving wheel and the driven pinion. Could also be beat out of adjustment, or dirty escape pallet stones... RG
  11. It looks great on your wrist, my pleasure as always, I aim to please... RG
  12. Cannon gear is defective, common problem, my guess is that when setting the time you feel very little resistance?? RG
  13. Wow, great pictures, really really nice details... They look great. RG
  14. Man, I was on the edge of my seat until the box was opened... What a shame, a real bummer, hopefully they had something good on tap at the pub to make up for it. RG
  15. The only fix is to take the watch apart, the hands and dial have to come off, and a washer added over the day wheel to hold it in place. Common problem simply due to the fact the day wheel, is sitting free on the movement, only the dial holds it in place. If there is any space at all between the dial and the date disk, it falls off as yours did... RG
  16. Your not pressing hard enough. If the set lever went in place (which it did because it's sitting there) then it can be pushed down to release the stem. Sometimes the spring that holds in down is very stiff, I mean really stiff... I don't suggest the oil, if it doesn't release the oil is not your fix, because the pin rotates when you move the crown from winding to dateset to time setting, if it was seized, you couldn't move the crown in or out... RG
  17. Great ending to a not so great start. Thanks for the write up, the watches look wonderful. RG
  18. It's probably going to cost you more to fix/replace than it would to simply buy a new watch. I have seen many water damaged movements, and within a few days the movement will be a complete write off, water and watches don't mix well. Unless you stripped it down within a day or two, the damage is done and the fix is going to be more than a replacement of the complete watch. RG
  19. Looks great on that strap, great pictures as well, nicely done. Glad I could help with your project. Wear it well. RG
  20. Very interesting to say the least, I would buy it just for the novelty of it... RG
  21. Wonderful review, thanks for taking the time to do it up. I find it very odd that the speed of the watch is out by as much as 3 seconds per day. According to the ETA manufacturing information on this movement, it's maximum error is 0.5 seconds per day. I would cross check it against an atomic clock and see what you get, I suspect that the reference may not be accurate. Great watch, and with that movemement inside, no worries about anything... RG
  22. Hey Lani, keep up the good work, it's much appreciated by many. As for me, as TT stated, although it's hard to do, I prefer to stay out of the limelight as much as I can, I don't care for any extra attention. RG
  23. My pleasure being able to help you out with these...wear them well. RG
  24. Not yet, haven't had any running seconds at 6 models in for service. RG
