I think the generations diverged at one point, so the nomenclature is now irrelevant. There is a 'post 4th generation' 42.5mm which actually took things backwards a little. The 45mm is a completely different range - arguably only on generation 2 as generation 1 is the same case and dial that has been available for a long time with Asian movements. The generation 1 45mms were the ones Neil was having custom fitted with ETAs until the factories started doing them that way. They probably had the best dial print and hand size of all the PO's, but it was a shame about the completely wrong case and ,llug size. I'm holding off for a decent rep 22mm rubber strap to appear, then I'll be all over the current 45mm as I'll be using parts from a scrap gen 1 Asian 45 to make it closer to correct....

Absolutely brilliant! Almost like a Monty Python sketch. Anyhoo, welcome and thanks for coming out of the trenches to give us that report!

There's plenty wrong with it, but the design isn't 'fantasy' as this is the one with the correct case dimensions and lug size for the 22mm strap. Details are incorrect such as the caseback depth, the date font and the size of the hands but this is still an acceptable replica.

Pleased to hear it. I don't want your hands to be shaking when you are doing my relume!! The way the transaction was handled was [censored] though. I've always taken the attitude that first to reply will get the deal, but kept the next in line people informed that if the first person doesn't pay within a reasonable time or decides to withdraw then I'll let them know. Two working days local time is thow long I'll usually give the first person to pay, but you've always got to play that sort of thing by ear (extenuating circumstances - I'd trust some people over others if they say they've hit a financial crisis or whatever...) Sure one day someone will scam me or waste my time because I play fair, but I'd rather do that than crap on someone and then become the subject of a thread like this...

I was thinking that too. Very good use of the standard ETA datewheel. Why can't they fit that to the TAG Link chrono reps I wonder..... You are absolutely correct. The inner bezel should have a pearlescent shimmer to it. The cheap quartz Navi I bought from TTK was more accurate than this new one in that respect.

My mistake for presuming the Monaco used the same movement as the Monza and Cal. 36. It really does tick me off though that the only armaments the majority of auto/chrono rep makers think they need are the 2824/36 and the 7750 and then they bodge and engineer inaccurate reps around these (the pseudo-GMT 2836 and the Daytonified 7750 being two cases in point). Then they make it worse by trumpeting their use of a bastard movement as if it is some sort of selling point. When I think of the amount of effort that has been wasted making the wrong movement fit a rep, it might have been easier for them to just get together and make the correct ones.... Am I expecting too much here?!

Beware Of France: The Sign Applies To Rep Watches, Too...

Are you American by any chance? Even if you aren't, see that symbol of liberty that Americans hold so dear....... -
Forget it. Until we start getting replica Zenith El Primero movements, this is another rep not worth having...... list of reps that would be worth having once El Primero movements get rep'd or get cheap. Not exhaustive, please feel free to add.... PO Chrono TAG Link Calibre 36/Monza/Monaco 'vintage' Daytona

Having said that, I did spot the recessed pin on the PAM base on the wrist of the guy sitting at the table next to us at a restaurant in Pigalle. Hmmm - was it you perchance Pug??!! -
I thought you already had yer hands on a wee beamer....?! (PS. Is there an award for threadcrap of the month?!)

Oi, d1c4ead. That's UK/Euro convention - dd/mm/yyyy. Don't try to use the ambiguity to cover your economic use of the truth. Next you'll be saying Neil faked the invoice.

Jeez - the lengths you will go to to distract us from your flame war with Craytonic! Bet he comes along now and says this is just an excuse for the 7 week delays in delivery. Anyhoo, if they sequestrate your assets and fling you out the country you can alway call on me or JTB for bed and board if you end up being repatriated :D

Yup. The Valjoux 7753 is not a 7750 with the 12 o'clock register still in place but driving a transfer gear to make it appear at the 3 o'clock position. It is a movement built from the ground up to have that register at 3 o'clock. As a result it has its date wheel in a different location to the 7750 also. A modified Asian/Swiss 7750 is effectively a base movement with bits added to its face. This means the pinions for the registers that aren't being transferred have to be longer, and the movement ends up a fair bit thicker. However, the datewheel position is still that for a 7750 (and actually masked for the most part of the face by the transfer gears). A modified 7750 is a visual approximation of a 7753, not a substitute for it. The heavily modified 7750 with seconds at 6 is a visual approximation of a Rolex calibre movement, but again not a substitute.

Rubbish. It'll have to be a pefect SubmAAAARRRRRRRRiner. Anyway, today is also National Take Your Dog to Work Day....

POLFY, SHITINERAND etc. I can understand, especially for some well intentioned Chinese person staring at the Western keyboard on their engraving machine. This one though looks like unfortunate phonetics....

This absolutely reeks of a scam. Might be an idea to plug some of those phrases into a search of ebay's forums to see if the wording has been used before for scam purposes.
-
Ouch - are you always that brutal??!!
-
That is exactly how it is done, but I have never seen these Swiss movements with Asian transfer gear added for sale as spares on their own, only advertised as being in already assembled watches. The ones sold on ebay with this configuration are misrepresented as Swiss - none of them I have seen look to be Valjoux movements with Asia modification. They all appear to be 100% (crap) Asian. Anything claiming to be 7750 with registers at 3/6/9 is going to be a bastard movement. The fact is that there is no such thing as a 100% Swiss 7750 with 9/6/3 layout.
-
Not one of them - all of them!!!

The transcribers of Gelena Shitinerand have been hard at work again...

Cousins are a well known and reputable UK parts supplier and are used by many members here. I've got an account with them!

Just noticed they've posted up some new TAGs on their 'watchsilix' site. They've got the Jack Heuer brown LE for a silly cheap price. Also their Asian movement LINKs seem to come with the same HQ bracelet as the top notch LINK Chrono that has become a bit famous, again at a ridiculously low cost. If nothing else it'll make getting spares for the expensive chrono easier....

You reckon?!...
