so, the 25-285 model is for all three models > 16600, 16600T, 16660 judging by the pics... the notch in the OEM must be there for the OEM gasket... very interesting! never seen one of these up close... do you have the gasket?!?! PP

well... not be the pessimist here... but these "new" versions may be bad news for us... we all know how the manufacturers try improving models, but ultimately end up fixing one thing and breaking two others... HOPEFULLY this is not the case!!! PP

good to know... so now, the only piece of the puzzle is figuring out the diameter of the gen crystal... AND, if it is larger than 28.4mm then i need to find someone to lathe out the case! thanks for your help Tribal! PP

ok, i think i got it... so, the notch in the crystal is hiding the rehaut... got it. NOW, i guess if you knew the difference between the rep and gen crystal diameter size... you could know whether or not you could machine the case accordingly?!?! assuming the gen crystal (+ gasket) is larger in diameter... hence, exposing more of the rehaut... also, I'm assuming that the genuine crystal is flat on the sides and not notched like the rep one you have pictured above... sorry to beat this topic to death but i am just trying to figure out if its worth buying a gen crystal... thanks for your input!!! no, i mean polishing along the entire side of the crystal... not just the part that comes up above the bezel... notice the opaque clarity on the side? I'm wondering if polishing it to a CLEAR finish, will the rehaut will shine through better?

you think polishing the side of the crystal will expose the rehaut better??? i noticed it has the opaque (not-clear) look to it... wondering if that would do the trick?!?! PP

you didn't happen to measure the diameter of the rep crystal compared to the gen crystal?!?! i know that the gen crystal is smaller than a sub crystal... wondering if the factories use sub crystals and had to notch them to fit the SD case... cuz, as they said, this model was made from the specs of the genuine case! even the dial on the SD is 1mm smaller than the sub... just wondering... PP

i use my old credit/debit cards on my vintages and it seems to do the trick well... however, on my gens, i am required to use some thing a little stronger like a swiss knife... i do use some masking tape on the case and knife to protect bezel and case from scratches... hope this helps... just ordered mine... is the crystal that bad?!?! when i put the gen 39 on my MBW, it improved the look of the rehaut 1000%! i am hoping that a gen crystal fits this model and does the same!

SICK! I would LOVE to see this happen!!! You could drill the case, as long as you CHECK, double CHECK, triple CHECK, Quadrup... uh uhm.. you see where i am going with the measuring to make sure you are square with the existing recessed holes... most likely, it wont be perfect on the inside of the lugs... they tend to round off the recesses... but who cares, its covered up! but, you 'should be' able to drill holes into the case using a quality bit(s) and quality drill press with a solid vice... also, you will achieve using the nice 'correct' spring bars... however, not sure about the specs of the case though... is it really the same?!?! dial depth and such?!?! the crystal is going to the hard part in the project! unless you are lucky in finding a Bay-Special! Heck, you could always try Helfands... FJS have a lot of aftermarket crystals that are pretty close to gen... PP

I am siding with BT on this one... sure, its a decent rep... but again, it isn't 1:1 like the 'marketing ploy' stated!!! the images above clearly show that this is merely a thicker case, fitted with a HEL and mimics 'closely' to the true SD look... But, if they indeed produce this from the genuine article, they missed one HUGE detail!!! Maybe all this thing needs is a better/clearer crystal?!?! SOMEONE possibly doing a crystal swap?!?! Also, sidenote, the SEL's seem to look loose and high as always... dead giveaway!

you know... i'm looking at it again... did anyone notice that the CG's are like the prototype in that one is bigger than the other... thought i remember someone saying that it would get fixed on the final release... love it! i gotta find that little tidbit before i call anyone out...
