  1. so actually... removing the mag is all about the PILLOWS!?!?!
  2. well, go figure... DISCOVERY, did you try to install a gen bezel? is it really that noticeable?
  3. with 8-9 months... they should be able to release a model that has at least one or two glaring flaws!!! I'm going to bet that the date font and the sub dials are incorrect!
  4. how is this a surprise to everyone?!?! from day one, thread after thread, there have been statements made about the reliability of this movement... i think having enough posts about the 2836 not being a reliable GMT would have sunk in... but no! PP
  5. aaaah, yes the GMT2CAICHS... not to be confused with the GMT2CACHS, GMT2CSCHS, or the GMT2CSICHS...
  6. after reading the descriptions in the breit site, seems you are correct... i guess i assumed since the model had "black subdials" that it was the slate model... and honestly, i thought they were the same damn color... lol Andrews descriptions states that it is a Graphite dial with Black sub dials. the image above clearly shows the ENTIRE dial being "graphite" including the subdials.
  7. which version is this? C Asian IHS = C? Asian Incorrect hand stack
  8. Ok, to add to the discussion and after 15 or so emails to Andrew, the version he has is basically the graphite/black model, but with a new datewheel... the problem i had with this model is that the outer part of the dial is supposed to be black. (meaning, black outer dial and graphite inner dial with black subdials, NOT full graphite with black subdials.) He also stated that this is the ONLY model he has and plans on selling... (for now) Josh, however, has the black/silver model. (which i have been informed is sold out.) so, the saga continues. PP
  9. ok, so a question and a comment... why cant the manufacturers get this crown going on the appropriate models? and i cant wait to see the few "standard" PAM reps sell for 400-600 bucks cuz it has this crown on it... PP
  10. thanks guys! toothpick idea is not working on this one... might have to buy another pin remover... this sucker is in there! this is the only thing i need to get apart for the project... PP
  11. PAM196, whats the right way to disassemble the crown guard assembly?
  12. the only reason i know i have one is because i bought version-1 during the abay PAM fiasco of 2004 or 5... LOL! even before they released the 7753 version.
  13. The only reason people should be fussing over this one should be due to price. Truth is, these things are made in Asia, so swiss "quality" is out the door... and tagging it with the "a genuine piece was used to make this one" is such an old marketing ploy within this hobby of ours... Hence, the SSD. Claimed to be originated from the genuine article, only to find out that even something as simple as a genuine crystal doesn't even fit. The term "ceramic" being tossed around as "partial" already puts doubt into the quality of the ONLY real part of this model that has any interest to me... Also, is the bezel Ceramic or Ceramic coated? What does that mean exactly? Also, as the past has shown us, knowing that this thing is coming to me with a 50/50 chance of having a working 2836 modified movement doesn't make me jump for joy just yet... What makes this piece $$$'s more than a GMT with a similar flawed case, bracelet, and dial, movement, and hands? however, after all that, am i going to buy one? yes, and i know what i am going to do to it too: http://www.discoverprohunter.com/collection/ceramic/ PP
  14. whats going on with the mounting points of your hands... they "look" all ding'd up..
  15. i have a pam196 that came with stripped holes inside the case under the CG... it CAN happen and it sucks cuz i cant find anybody to re-tap the holes so that the case can be usable again... anyone know where i can get those re-tapped?
  16. the difference is the profit margin... thats all...
  17. @TA8088 I do have A THIRD 196 CASE ONLY... the bad: One pusher is missing... however, you can use one from almost any 196 case out there... the really bad: the holes that the CROWN GUARD screws go into, are stripped... came that way from the factory... IF you know anyone that can fill and micro-tap the holes and find screws that resemble the CG screws... you can make it work... EDIT: actually, i got the loupe out and it looks like the just forgot to tap the holes... pretty smooth walls inside those holes...
  18. everyone i contact about doing the PVD, says that there are too many small parts on the 196 and they wont do it... but then i see davids and i know its possible... i think rolli or ajoesmith can make this project possible. i guess i want a full pvd. but i saw an Invicta model that had a mixture of different finishes on it... i thought keeping the bezel and crown guard polished, pvd the case and crown, and leaving the chrono pushers silver might make for a unique looking model... but now, i just don't know.. same version as this, but they had a longer 'non shaved' / working date pusher... it was released shortly after these and were in the ballpark of 600-900 bucks at the time...
  19. not sure you would want them one of these without the working date pusher... remember, the very first old case 7750 pusher was shaved down... PP
  20. I wanted to copy that exact watch you got there david... remember when i contacted you about the paint you used for the bezel numbers? Life took over and i forgot about it for a while... Anyway, I got two of these old case 7750's... NEVER wear them... and after seeing that pic YET AGAIN i want to copy it... However, i want to have the anthracite color and less texture to the coating... still not sure if that is even possible?? i was thinking of removing the bezel and doing something different... but everytime that PVD196 stares at me... i go into a trance... and the DAMN dirk strap is oh so sexy! lol so, i think i MAY sandblast the entire thing and start from there... and if the look isnt pretty, i may just send it away to get PVD'd... who knows.?!?! you guys got any ideas?
  21. maybe you should read the part where i mention PAM196 in the TOPIC and the part where i state 196 in the body of the thread?!? to be more specific, i am working with an 7750 Version 1 - Old Style Case: PAM196 i think it was purchased back in the PAM Fiasco back in the ABAY days... if anyone can remember that ?!?!
  22. hey guys... thinking about doing a two tone PVD/SS version of the 196 since i have an extra lying around... anyone know if the bezel comes off of this thing? thanks PP
  23. This is what i needed to hear!! thanks. Its even better to hear that V is coming out with a CG that is claimed to be 1:1... I guess I am going to ask the 'who has the best 005' that is mod'able? or allows the new future CG?
  24. About the 005, besides the case-back, what else is wrong with it? Also, Do DSN models even have correct case measurements? I find it mind boggling that the release of new model after new model, they still cant create a CROWN or CG that resembles the OEM. And to rant one last time... the case horn still seem rounded off to me... i still wonder why they still cant get them to look sharper?? yet another lazy flaw...
