I don't know who makes those spring bars you posted above, but I have compared gen bars to Star Times swiss-made bars and the differences are nearly imperceptible, with the exception of how the tips are polished. The gen tips are slightly pointy. Gen on bottom, ST on top: Gen on right, ST on left: The internal springs on the ST bars are hands down the best I have used. I would not be surprised if the tiny Swiss village that makes these bars also supply Rolex with them. I will never use any other bars.
  2. I think for the price, the Yuki case is terrific value. It takes a bit of work to reshape but it's a great base. Fact it can accept a gen movement is a bonus. Well, it's in the mail. You should have it early next week.

  9. Putting down the tools now. I've held off getting a gen bracelet for my 5513 for quite some time and have lived with various leather and semi-franken bracelets using gen endlinks and 93150 clasp in combination with some aftermarket links. My goal first and foremost was comfort over period "correctness". If it's not comfortable to wear than what's the point right? Finally broke down a purchased a gen 7206 rivet bracelet with 67 stamp to match the case. While I had my doubts, I find it extremely comfortable and complements the lines of the sleek case. While at times it does feel a bit tuna can-ish, I really like the slim links. I still need to remove one link. Any advice from those that have performed this surgery would be appreciated. Thanks

As many of our American brothers are soon to be in a L-Tryptophan slumber, I thought I would keep the rest of us awake by hosting a simple contest of identifying a few Rolex parts and accessories via macro photos.   15. And here is a closeup of a Noob V3/4 case that I have lying around. It's quite laughable really: Texture is all wrong. Letters are not even centered. Disgusting. But i suppose not many people will inspect with a 15x loupe to notice
  16. I've had a chance to take some close ups of the rehaut on my gen SubC. It's laser engraved in such a way that the depth will look different as it hits the light. At some angles, it appears that the letters are deeply etched in the middle of the fonts: However, at another angle, the center of the letters is in fact not hollow; but rather matte/flat which contrasts with the horizontal grains of the outer satin finish:
  17. He states that the case uses a T19, so would assume the retaining ring and bezel are gen spec or at least gen-like... You could ask him what size insert the bezel will accept (gen inserts are 36.55mm OD). As far as the case goes, here is my brief list: Lug profile is a bit off.. the taper from the mid section to the lug tip starts too early (this cannot be fixed) insert is terrible, but that is to be expected (this can be replaced) crown height is too low (not fixable without major surgery) back of CG's are not very good and is angled incorrectly (potentially fixable) mid section of case, at the base of the crown guards, is too thick.. the lugs are slightly fat... but the Yuki case suffers from the same thing. (fixable) caseback appears to be way too tall/thick.. (not fixable) the CG's looks a bit too pointy.. I think this is a result of the low crown position as the tips of the CG's should be colinear with the center of the crown. (not fixable) Rehaut looks to be a touch too deep.. again, mostly likely a compensation of the lower crown height.. (not fixable) On the bright side, it is 1/2 the cost of the Yuki case and it will accept a gen movement. Bezel looks acceptable

  23. If you can live with a fixed lens, not sure there is much better out there than the X100 series. The APS-C sensor is on par with most DSLRs out there with the exception of the full frames, but image quality is top notch IMHO. Ability for full manual control coupled with the old-school rangefinder (OVF/EVF hybrid), make this one of the "funnest" shooting cameras. I'm not sure this is really meant to replace a DSLR, but if you are in the market for a Leica, the Fuji X is a no-brainer at a fraction of the cost.
  24. Snapped a few pics this morning with the new camera. Still experimenting with a couple of post editing software. Some were done using Snapseed on iPhone, some using Aperture/Nik Software on MacBook. But all are uploaded via tapatalk as I don't know how to upload to RWG on MacBook without going over file size limit. Setup is the new Fuji X100T, Gariz 1/2 case, Leicatime leather strap, aftermarket (rep) hood, B+W UV filter, custom soft shutter release button.
