  1. It's definitely more flat than gloss. But because of the platinum "dust", it shimmers/reflects under different lighting conditions. But you can clearly see that the Tamiya titanium silver is much closer to gen than just the pure white paint the cartels are using.
  2. Thanks to everyone for their help/suggestions. I think it turned out pretty good for a first attempt. After trying out several different paints, I ended up using Tamiya Titanium Silver model paint. Very gen-like IMO. This was the before: I stripped the paint off first with acetone and put on a thin layer of Tamiya flat white as a base/primer. Then layered on 3 thin coats of the plat paint (diluted a touch with thinner).
  3. Thks. Love my Thomas Pink shirts. Definitely the best quality for the money.
  4. Do you think the hairspring could be replaced with a gen blue parachrom hairspring?
  5. Cool. He sent you the whole watch. Good luck with the tear down. And perhaps more importantly, good luck with the reassembly! After a month of ownership, my sa3135 V2 is running perfectly - albeit about 25sec fast/day. If you can figure out an easy way to regulate it, I appreciate it. But I got a feeling it requires the microstella wrench route, which is above my level of competence.
  6. Yes. Just tossed on a TC 93160 SD bracelet and replaced the spring bars. I have a glossy gen dial I'm thinking of using until I find a good matte dial:
  7. Came back from holiday and this was sitting on my office desk. 16660. Still need to replace the dial (looking for a matte 666), bracelet and the movement (which is somewhere in the mail), but pretty much everything else is gen.
  8. Sounds like the keyless works needs to be reassembled. And/or you need a new stem. I would not play around with the time unless you or someone else takes it apart.
  9. I was referring more about the pearl. I think I will epoxy it back on as it sticks up more so that any other Rolex pearls.
  10. Ok. So razor blade around the pearl to pop it off. What did u use to glue it back on? Hypo cement?
  11. I know that works with the steel bezels, but the raised sub c pearls seem to be epoxied on. Not sure a knife will work. I'll try tonight.
  12. Removed the paint on the bezel from the V2 3135 last night: Applied acetone with a small brush and wiped it away. Easy peasy. If I have the energy, I will apply the platinum paint tonight. Ideally I should have removed the pearl, but like the noobs, the damn bezel won't come off. I also don't want to twist it off with pliers as it might crack the ceramic. Painting around the pearl will be a challenge. Here's a before pic:
  13. Yes. That's Henry Lees site. He's up and up.
  14. Yes. It's great. It has not left my wrist for a week. But then again I'm on holiday and its the only watch I brought with me. I'll do the platinum paint mod when I get back home. The second hand is very smooth. Runs a touch fast, but not the end if the world to hack it for 10-15 secs each morning.
  15. Cyclops is ARed and very well centered. No need for gen crystal upgrade IMO. However, DW is justified touch to the left. May need new DW and/or dial. But out of the box, its the best Sub C rep to date. It's not perfect, but no rep is.
  16. Same direction as gen, that's the whole point about getting this 3135.
  17. Ive already asked. Movement not available separately.
  18. I believe the newest ones come with a free goat tshirt.
  19. Don't diminish what you have. Bill at MKII makes awesome stuff. You're fortunate to be one of the few owners of the Kingston. Beautiful watch. Bills attention to detail is second to none. And it's great that he's open to input on all his designs. I still have my yellow monster from Bill when all he did was modify Seiko monsters.
  20. No watch today. Can't wear one with French cuffs
