  1. Nice. What are your thoughts on the Nex-5? I got a T1i, Canon G11, and a Panasonic Zs7. Was thinking of selling the G11 and Panasonic for a Nex-5. Really like the magnesium body. It just feels so well made. BTW, nice pics.
  2. Had one and sold it off. It's a great rep. I have three extra links to anyone who wants them; gratis for supporting members.

    DSN 27a

Looks amazing. Just got word that Leo has more datewheels. Looking to buy two for my 027a, and might start a 028 project.
  4. Great piece you are a lucky man. Only Zig is capable of such a superb job.
  5. Good call on the refurb. It has the same warranty as a new one, and Apple build quality is quite good. One more vote for an external, and can do Apple Time Machine.
  6. I say DSN. I have four watches from him, and had problems with the first. I learned my lesson and contacted him all the time asking him to check this, and to check that. After my first 111H I have not had a single issue. It helps to be proactive.
  7. lumedots on skyland are excellent. Who is the dealer? GREAT PICS by the way.
  8. Happy feet, and poor date font. Everything else looks good to me. Would like it on an orange rubber.
  9. Hi Guys, I am thinking of making some custom watches. I know some of you have had some great experiencing sourcing cases, and dials? Can you guys lend a hand? Distributors? Dial Printing? Thanks!
  10. PM'd. I have a spare one with AR removed.
  11. I have a T1I and really like it. I had a d40 before, and sold it to get an Oly 510. The d40 takes amazing pictures, and I would suggest sticking with that until you can afford exactly what you want. Buying lenses is also a good idea because lenses rarely depreciate.
  12. Nicely done, what kind of strap is that?
  13. This is a wonderful lens. Ultra sharp. I played around with a friend's and will be getting this over the Canon 10-22. It's so hard to find them in stock though. I have my email on every single site awaiting for that moment the arrive. Definitely will not hesitate to buy. These easily recoup their value on eBay.
  14. Here is my order of importance for a good franken: 1. Sapphire Crystal is first on the list. The sapphire almost gives the dial a murky look, and clarity of the dial under the gen crystal is night and day. I opted for the Gen crystal. Chief AR is nice, but I think it still has its flaws. You save about $70, but there is a long wait time, and sometimes he just doesn't respond. 2. Dial - While some of the earlier rep dials are good the lume on the gen is a monster. I pit it against a Panerai any day. Re-lume from Vac and you get the same results, but again there will be a wait time and the cost in saving is insignificant to having the gen with no flaws. 3. Hands - Same argument as dial regarding luminosity. 4. Crown and Tube - Eventually the rep will fail, and its best to get this out of the way 5. 2824 Datewheel - Completes the look Optional Mods in order of importance: 5. Bezel - The bezel is expensive, and I think the rep isn't so bad after a simple mod. 6. Bracelet - Really hard to distinguish between gen and rep unless you had a gen next to you to compare. However the end links are not up to snub. There will be a small gap. The second flaw is the diver's extension. I have been lucky to have a pretty tight one, but I feel it will eventually give after a few years of wear. The engraving is definitely thinner and not as deep, however I can look past this. 7. He Valve -
  15. Conus = Ofrei EU = Cousins Please add others if you have them. It would be nice to do some price shopping.

    Franken UPO

BrainSW - Nice project. I have that combo in a gen 42.5, or I would have done it too.

Thanks Eton, your PO turned out nicely as well. I am considering that bezel and dial combo as another project. Thanks dluddy!

    Rolex ETA Issue

    Thanks JoJo and Freddy.
  19. Sorry for the noob question, but I have a noob Sub here with Swiss ETA and it has a power reserve of about 4 hours. How do I manual wind the watch? Which position should it be in? Wind up or down? Thanks guys. I want to try everything before sending it to a watchsmith.
  20. Yup, yup. For anyone of our International Friends that want to check this out, please PM me. I will mail you a dvd free of charge. First to reply.

    Franken UPO

Thanks guys. I was on the hunt for a 196 project and it seemed that getting the watch to 99% was near impossible. I went to the UPO thanks to Lani's pics, and Ubi's advice. The parts are readily available, and the transformation is relatively painless. There isn't a recessed datewheel to deal with, and you get a great watch at half the price.
