  1. I learn something new every day. I guess swapping from Asian to ETA is not as straightforward as it seems... Thanks for the insight The Zigmeister.
  2. I've seen the aftermarkets on the bay for $30 but have no idea if they are even close to the real thing. If the quality isn't on par with gen, I'd prefer to go with a branded rep bracelet. Anyone have one laying around or know where to source a decent branded rep? This would be for a 16220 so I'm looking for all-stainless. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
  3. You would have to make sure the existing hands will fit on the Swiss movement. Also, you would need to ensure the spacer would fit, but that's a minor issue since you can modify the spacer to make it work if needed. If you end up wanting to move ahead with this, PM me as I have several serviced Swiss movements available if you need one.
  4. 2836 and 2824 are the ETA movements most commonly used in reps. I have one available, PM me for details.
  5. OK, what I ended up using was rubber cement. It was awesome - since I goofed up a few times, I was able to remove the overlay, "rub" off the dried cement (comes off like eraser), and start over again. By putting a bead on both the datewheel and the overlay, I was able to build a small thickness which raised the overlay flush. This helped it clear the keyless works cover which holds the teeth down.
  6. Cool - this is the info I needed. Thanks!
  7. Don't laugh - Swatch Body and Soul. One of my favorites in my collection!
  8. Couple of quick questions as I'm doing this as I type - what glue did you use on the overlay? Also, the overlay actually covers the teeth which "ride" under the keyless works cover plate - how did you get everything to lay flush? Does the overlay just ride on the cover plate? Thanks!
  9. So then which one is the absolute best ultimate PO? If it is an Asian, does that automatically rule it out from the running?
  10. Man, how can that guy say it is 100% authentic/genuine or whatever? Unbelievable...
  11. I just realized you are referencing the Navitimer and Crosswind font, however this thread is dealing with the 7750 datewheel which is not used in the Navitimer rep, so your font wouldn't be applicable. See posts #8 and #9, apparently someone has chased down the 7753 (Navitimer) font previously and the project appears to have died. I'm hoping to get a realistic font for the Chronomat Evolution.
  12. Does this help? Can somebody with Photoshop clean it up and sharpen it?
  13. This is what I was quickly able to whip together, still missing a few including number 1. These are mostly from Chronomat Evolutions but there are a couple shots from other models. It appears the fonts do vary from model to model, but the difference is negligible, especially since the font can seem to vary even on the same model depending on its age. I was thinking, couldn't we maybe find the font, generate an image on PC, then print with laser printer to a thin white sheet of plastic (similar to a transparency), then cut it out and apply to a datewheel? Might need to shave the datewheel a tiny bit to compensate for the thickness of the plastic sheet, but could work, no? 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 12. 14. 15. 17. 20. 21. 22. 24. 28. 29. 31.
  14. Doesn't look right to me - note the little crossed Ts on the tails of the 2, 6, and 9.
  15. Cool info, great to know... I think the ideal swap would still be a gen datewheel, but I don't know if it will fit.
  16. Can you clarify - are you saying the ETA 7750 date wheel can be swapped onto an Asian 7750 movement without modification? Is it a direct drop-in fit? The ETA datewheel is still not the correct font, however it's much closer to the real thing compared to the Asian 7750 font.
  17. Did you get the dial? How does it look? Does it include the rehaut tachymeter scale piece as well?
  18. Absolutely right - that is a glaring flaw! The pointed rider tab only occurs at 12 o'clock. But even if that was fixed... the date font is nothing like the original and can be spotted across the room. I guess the factories have had years to perfect the Rolex font whereas Breitling reps are in their infancy... Does anybody know if a genuine date wheel will fit the Asian 7750, and if so, where can one be sourced?
  19. Any progress on this one? I have an Asian Chronomat Evolution and I agree, the single-digit numbers are the wrong font and just leave a lot of space in the window. The correct font is bolder and fills up more of the window. Count me in, if this project goes anywhere!
