It's good you have posted and explained it. I see you've only been on here for two months, I don't know how long you've been into rep watches, but buying them is just like buying anything else that is used. Always do your homework before committing to buy. This seller has been very kind in refunding the money with out any problems, not many would be so willing. Personally, I would rather have an Asian movement that has been serviced as opposed to a "gen ETA" movement (unless it is 100% ETA and has also been serviced), but you pays your money and takes your chances with movements in this game.

I must say I think I'd rather have the Prometheus Sailfish than one of these reps. The dial is nicer on the FF rep, but it's way too pricey for what it is, we can't allow the dealers to keep on hiking the prices up, starting to get silly now. Just can't decide between the Sailfish with a black, grey or yellow dial!

I use the same forum name on every single forum I'm a member of. Don't have anything to hide and I'm not trying to fool anyone about anything. (not saying that people that do use different names DO have stuff to hide, it's your own decision obviously) Just use common sense, only discuss in a forum what that forum is about. If anyone on WUS of TZ moans that I have reps I'll just say "Yes, and I have lots of gens too, and I'm talking about the gens in here."

I would say that half the worlds population don't wear a watch, ~3/4s of the rest wear something that cost $25 or less, ~1/2 of the remainder are in Seiko price region or a bit more (and there are a *lot* of watch brands in that region IMO), and the rest are an increating budget. 50/100 - no watch 35/100 - cheap rubbish 10/100 - Seiko level 4/100 - Upto $1000 0.995/100 - Over $1000 0.005/100 - Over $10,000 So refusing to buy Seikos as they're far too common is a fallacy IMO. Nothing wrong with just saying "I don't like them" or "I prefer XYZ because ...", but they're really not that common compared to the worlds population. (of course one could just look up last years sales figures but guessing is more interesting ) I'll have to do a covert survey at work to see who wears what

Yes the gen is on the left. Cronus4, they come from Angus, Puretime. What does 1:1 mean? I'm just a relative newbie, but my understanding is a 1:1 rep is one where you can swap parts for gen ones and they will fit. They will still have flaws, how can they not when this watch costs $320 and the gen costs $2000? But they are a heck of a lot closer to gen than they ever where. Look here, people are still arguing over which is the rep and which is the gen in the photo above

It's a pity that big scratches on the crystals leave dark marks. (2nd photo down shows it very well) I bet it's just reflections of something dark, maybe the edge of the crystal. If the marks were a lot lighter I bet you could keep on using them (for diving) indefinitely. If I did it I'd definitely need to have a separate group of watches used for diving - robust, waterproof, ones I knew could be knocked about all over the place and keep on going. Probably digital watches in that case

Never done it myself but I think if you ask in the right forums for a PDF file of the overlay you want you should be able to get one. Then just change the colour to what you want and print it on decent card stock, then cut out and stick on. (hmm, ask for one as an image or a MS Word document as PDF files are great for sending to someone else but a bloody pain in the [censored] to edit or get the text / image out of.

Got one of these with the little gold highlights in the dial. Lovely little watch it is, super build quality that puts some watches 20+ times its price to shame. I got it as a beater, but it's too nice to be doomed to a life in the workshop or on customer sites so sits in the winder with the others

What movement symbol is that? It's a rounded square, cut in half horizontally with a round dot in the middle. I've seen it before but can't find it on Google, that just comes up with Swiss movement logos.

Ah, no problem then Some people don't understand that there are a lot of parts to the journey from the dealer to their house (or expect the dealer to be a magician and fix everything instantly) and get angry at the dealer, which, as you know, does no good at all and just makes sure everyone had a bad day. Josh will make sure everything works out for you. The problem you mentioned with Josh wanting the goods back before he sent out a replacement or did a refund is normal practise with any business in the UK, I've had the same problem a few times (this was with online dealers selling kitchen utensils and another selling metalworking tools), all I could do if I wanted a replacement in a hurry is agreed that I would buy another one, and then when the broken whatever-it-was got back to them, they would do a full refund, so I would end up paying for one, and having a working one as soon as possible. It just means that for a few days my bank account is out by the cost X 2.

Please note that it is the Chinese New Year celebrations at the moment, and they do them properly, they're off for weeks! So it may be a few weeks before you get any answer, Ken will answer you though.

It is not an expensive movement to replace. If it is properly serviced it is just as reliable as an ETA swiss movement, maybe a bit less accurate. The problem is the cost of a decent service is more than the movement costs, so do you just go with it, wait for it to die and buy a new one, maybe do that a few times, or get this one serviced and then have a reliable movement for 4 or more years with nothing to worry about? I prefer the latter, no worries about "will it die or not", no extra costs and hassle finding someone to put a new movement in. Oh, when this other place mentions "they are getting hard to obtain", they are referring to new ETA movements. These asian clones are cheap and plentiful.

Thank you! I'm very happy with it, considering I bought it without seeing one in the flesh first. It was a huge hassle removing a link from the bracelet, hammer, large pliers and a vice sort of hassle, but all done now with no marks to anything (I have just bought three new vices with a set of rubber jaw protectors for them, so as everything was brand new, unused and free from bit of swarf that they usually pick up, they were perfect for the job, and their delivery couldn't have been timed better ) I've subsequently found from others that they have found that removing and fitting the pins the opposite way to the indicator arrow is a heck of a lot easier. Got a display case back on the way.

Hmm, so if someone says a watch has been proven properly waterproof, it's probably had a very hard life being dinged against rocks, stuffed into mud, sand, sharks and finally washed up on shore somewhere with the bitten off remains of the previous owners arm... I think I'll have mine slightly less waterproof and in great condition

Whilst not wanting to tar all tiny keymakers / "watch repairers" with the same brush, my local one marked the bracelet on the watch I took in for resizing a while ago, and marked the case back of another which needed a battery change. IMO most of them should stick to making copies of keys. Nowadays I'm happy changing any bracelet, but have (just) bought another bracelet pin pusher outer kit thingy
