Ask Jay from some photos of what you'll get, I'm sure he'll be more than happy to assist.
From what I've seen recently the CN subs have come a long way! The whole case is different, the bezels are interference fit and feel almost as good as the TW/MBW versions.
I was told by a watch maker I know that ETA sometimes have "backdoor" stock, basically QC cast offs that have the ETA model and logo machined off and are then sold "out the back door" .. Could be an explination for what looks like a damn good copy! Seems strange to copy the 28xx model as its rather cheap.
Lets hope you havent got "Home" set on your satnav, because they'll be thinking "Rolex" hmm this guys got some wodge, lets go rob his house while he's at work.
All of the cases are solid s/s, but the grade is better on the "prime" items and the bands tend to be pretty poor (bad engraving and bad end links) on the asia ones.
Its done using a satinizer wheel like this:
Once fitted to a bench polisher you can get really even satinization (is that even a word? lol!).. I use it all the time to re-finish rolex bands and case-tops.
Most jewellers with a workshop will have one and will be more than happy to satinize your band.
Does anyone know if any dealers can source a dial for a TW sub? The dial is smaller then the CN items and the date window is in the same position as a gen..
My TWB sub has spat out its dummy and dropped an hour marker and the others are looking a bit ropey too.. I did source a replacement dial in the past from River when I managed to nick the dial with my hand remover but am I right in saying River isnt around any more?
Cheers!
I can recommend an independant watch maker called Wellingtons in Wokingham, Berkshire if your in that neck of the woods. Their number is 0118 978 2162 .
