  1. Thats a good idea, but I should think the focus distance would not be sufficient enough to allow for the lens to be located further enough away to get full access to the movement from above.
  2. My all time fave and recommendation is the White Explorer II A very elegant piece and not too understated IMHO.. Goes great with casual and formal wear and looks especially good with crisp white shirt cuffs.
  3. I have to say I think PAM's look bloody stupid.. IMHO they are Ugly and unless you have BIG wrists you look like you might be a little retarded and need a "special" watch to tell the time I think they are just for the "larger" gentlemen to try and make him self look thinner, much like vertical stripes and baggy trousers.
  4. Emailed, and followed the instructions to the T..
  5. I'm guessing TTK is not around? no reply to my mails
  6. I suggest you go and hold a real Rolex, they feel just as Rubbish
  7. Hi Neil, I'm not sure you are getting my emails or I'm doing something wrong I sent a couple of emails requesting a price for 157. Thanks for reading. Cheers!
  8. Much easier with a dremel, the crown removed and a fine disc
  9. Its the vintage rivited one I want.. Will contact you TTK for pricing..
  10. Has anyone used this site before? This is one of the best Vintage EXPII replicas I have ever seen and I really want one! None of my usual dealers holds this item though (not this good anyway!) http://www.cqout.com/item.asp?id=2003549
  11. A Londoner parks his brand new Porsche in front of the Merrill Lynch office to show it off to his colleagues. As he's getting out of the car, a lorry comes speeding along too close to the kerb and takes off the door before zooming off. More than a little distraught, the Londoner grabs his mobile and calls the police. Five minutes later, the police arrive. Before the policeman has a chance to ask any questions, the man starts screaming hysterically: "My Porsche, my beautiful midnight blue Porsche is ruined. No matter how long it's at the panel beaters it'll simply never be the same again!" After the man finally finishes his rant, the policeman shakes his head in disgust. "I can't believe how materialistic you bloody Londoners are," he says. "You lot are so focused on your possessions that you don't notice anything else in your life." "How can you say such a thing at a time like this?" sobs Lee the Porsche owner. The policeman replies, "Didn't you realise that your right arm was torn off when the truck hit you." The Londoner looks down in horror ."F***ING HELL !" he screams........ "Where's my Rolex??..."
  12. The hair is a pretty easy fix, you can drop the movement out of the back of the case (just need to remove the two case clamps and the stem) and push the crystal out, then remove the hair, polish up the crystal and re-press.. The date wheel however requires some disassembly of the movement. The Asia 7750 movements are very delicate and if this is the first movement you have worked on it would be worth finding a watch smith to carry this out for you.
  13. Basically they have twisted the strap while pressing out the pins which the stress has snapped the rivet on the clasp. If you find a decent jewellers with a work shop they could replace this for you with ease.
  14. That reminds me... Was it the rivet in the middle of the clasp fold? If so they have been a weak point since the SMP rep raised its head.
  15. If its made of brass and plated with SS it must be a bloody cheapo rep?
  16. Hi Guys, I've not been around for a while I've been busy playing Engines! I've been doing loads of repairs for a couple of dealers so I'm sorry to anyone who has PM'ed and I've not been able to get back to them. I'm thinking about organising another meet in the near future at the Ring 'O' Bells on the A4 at the Bucks/Berks border. Any interest? P.S. I love this smiley
  17. Ignore me I'm a bloody idiot! lol!
  18. 281mm is 28.1 centimeters thats a big crystal! I assume these values need dividing by 10? I've not got the crystal so cant reference it, I can only measure the hole
  19. Thanks for that offshore, What the method of conversion on this chart?
  20. Does anyone have a handy chart for crystal size conversions (i.e. 140, 150, 160 -> mm), I have measured the crystal but do not have a model number to order from so need to convert 38.20mm to a standard size. Cheers
  21. Order a Generic insert from Ofrei (http://www.ofrei.com/) or Cousins (http://www.clockspares.net/) and transplant the pearl, use a tiny blob of epoxy glue to hold it in.
  22. A carbide bit works fine on reps, the steel is pretty shitty to be fair.
  23. If the scratches are deep use a high grit wet and dry paper to smooth the surface, 1500-2000 grit would be fine. Use a abrasive compound (a car body work rubbing compound would suffice). Now finish with a fine polish, again auto grade stuff is ok to use. If your going to use a polishing wheel make sure you use a low speed or you will melt the crystal! I use Farecla compounds my self, G3 where an abrasive compound is needed an G10 for finishing. P.S. all of the old Rolies had plastic crystals.
  24. The mechanism that controlls the GMT hand is a retro fit some might call it a bodge something has probably come loose.
  25. Are you drilling from the inside of the lug or the outside? If you're drilling form the outside you'll need to use a center punch to keep the bit straight. If your going from the inside, you need to hold the piece REALLY STILL best to use a small vice and a pillar press for your dremel.. Proxxon do a good one.
