  1. Possibly. But i do know for certain that the die fitted both my rep CA v1 and gen CA M1. Which would suggest that the casebacks for the CA series of reps were indeed 1:1 It would be handy if everyone with gen or rep Breitlings could compile a list of 'across flats' and 'across corner' or 'flat to corner' dimensions. Seeing how expensive multiple sets of dies can be, it would be more economical to just use a Jaxa style opener...yuk!
  2. hae to disagree with this bit. As i said, my 38MM die fits: SuperOcean Steelfish X-Plus, Skyland, Chrono Avenger, M1... but not Navitimer or Chronomat Evo, which have smaller case backs
  3. The 38mm chinese-made dies are advertised as fitting Navitimers, when in fact they don't. My "38mm" die only works on Gen & Rep Aeromarine Breitlings: 44mm+ case size, not Navitimer, not Windrider. Was that any use to you?
  4. I think thats good enough for a v3. In fact i reckon that it has a very clear and sharp dial, especially the stencils. I'd be quite happy with that, if i couldnt get a v2.
  5. Yep, too right. Gen Fish dial is a must I'll get around to the wristies asap. and i'll get around to doing that summary for you. I haven't forgotten!
  6. I've long wanted to to sort out my swiss SOSF, and when the chance came up to get a gen dial, i jumped on it! The rep dial is nicely made, but the factory lume wasn't good and the white was too white. It should be cream. My particular rep dial was already superlumed, but the white was bugging me..... Here it is with gen dial fitted. Next to a couple of gatecrashers Then there was the Seawolf Chrono i bought for a bit of fun. I know its flawed but i was surprised to find it to be better than I expected. Had a blobby pearl, nasty plastic strap, next to no lume, bad AR Time to get rid of the plastic strap, add a gen Pro Diver II and do a relume Next up - AR. I removed the crystal and sent it off to Germany for treatment. In the meantime i got a standby glass. Another thing i was hoping to do, was to fit a proper 1/10th sec quartz chrono, as per subdial layout. But the ETA G10 (with black datewheel) and G15 that I bought dont fit. Oh well, looks like I'm stuck with the ISA 8171-202. Another job to complete is to fit the gen bezel to my Skyland. The rep v2 bezel on this example is the biggest letdown on an otherwise well modded watch. The stamping of the numbers is vague. The v1 and v3 are better than this! The problem is, its not a direct fit. The retaining clip is located differently on the gen. I had actually glued it on, but took it off again when i didnt like the fixed bezel! Back to the drawing board!!
  7. I didnt say that the rep Seawolf uses the same movt as gen! I know that the rep uses a functionally inaccurate version of the ETA G10.211 Whereas the gen uses a derivative of the ETA 251.232. I inferred that the rep PD Flat6 uses the same or at least similar (date at 4 instead of 4.5) movt as gen Seawolf: Central chrono secs Central chrono mins 1/10th sec subdial @2 12 hr subdial @10 runnings secs @6 that is the same dial format as the PD Flat6 rep. Whether it is thermocompensated or not makes no difference to a rep. ETA sell quartz chronos by the tag "Thermoline", which as the name suggests are thermocompensated at the factory! "ETA Thermoline ETA has developed a complete family of thermo-compensated quartz movements with twenty times the accuracy of standard quartz movements. Designed to successfully complete the different COSC tests, this new generation of chronometers raises performance and reliability limits even further." IMO, this talk of SQ accuracy is irrelevant, all I'm interested in is if they can rep it accurately....?
  8. Yeah the gen uses the same movt as the rep (and gen) Porsche Design Flat Six chrono quartz. So the movt isn't hard to source. Just matter of getting the dual right. I'm bored of stencils which I why I like this dial
  9. I notice that Puretime has now updated the sales blurb to say that the lume markers at 6,9,12 have been updated. In fact, it says that the whole dial is updated. The rehaut and hands were already pretty good, so i reckon it was just the dial itself?
  10. Was looking around the dealers for fun (as you do), and I keep going back to look at the Seawolf chrono rep. I know there are a look of flaws at this price range, but could it be the test bed for a proper ETA quartz chrono rep? GEN REP: and more to the point: It looks like a real Breitling
  11. http://www.cousinsuk.com/catalog/10/669/2520.aspx "genuine alligator for Breitling for Bentley" comes to about £85 GBP (RRP £195) Looks pretty close to me
  12. Oooff! Is that a tiled floor below where your kid is balancing the watch?! Hey the SA looks good on your wrist. So what version is yours? I had a v2 once, and apart from the bracelet, I thought it was superbly made. Couldn't fault it
  13. I had a HTC Hero, now a Desire S. I felt that the Desire HD was a tad too big for slipping into a jeans pocket etc. Anyway, a colleague has a Wildfire, and to be honest, i don't rate it as well as the Hero! The screen quality isn't as smooth or sharp. The Desire S, on the other hand, is a very good handset. I'm very happy with mine, no issues so far. (knock on wood) The large screen is a big Positive, especially for web browsing, gaming and of course, SMS typing where the larger 'keypad' is an improvement.
  14. is it supposed to be a 7753? hence the "27 jewels"
  15. Are these actually effective? I have a cheap but different looking u/s cleaner, and for really old stubborn bracelet gunk, i still needed to use a toothbrush afterwards. (the gunky watch belonged to a co-worker, i was doing him a favour)
  16. Brilliant stories, Keep them coming! Its good to know where peoples' other passions lie. This gives a short insight into our lives in this single themed community... Now, Chief (if you're around) - I half know the story of the US soldier killed by friendly fire. (am I correct?) With respect, would you mind sharing? and HikeUSA, Ronin etc. - come on.....where do you get these awesome pics?? lol
  17. Wow! Very interesting indeed! @mm20: I remember seeing the Speedster in another thread and thinking how beautiful it is. To build that takes time & dedication. My hat goes off to you. @TJ: You're right, the mosque pic is very good too! Has some good geometric patterns which are probably familiar to your tattooing. Its a very misunderstood artform. I like the sig banner artwork @mmalliance: You do come across as a total d1ck. No seriously, its good that you held your hands up to reason and didn't ask admin to change your name. I didn't check the link yet, but you do seem like a genuine and witty chap! bonzer!
  18. After a number of years on various fora, I've often wondered about why people choose some unique avatars which caught my attention and gave a moments thought to. Here, I appreciate the .gifs of scantily clad women, cars, watch movements etc., but what about the more abstract ones? Here's your chance to explain yourself!! Then there's the names: I find the the majority are coded or just bizarre! I won't even try to guess what they mean. But they all have significance, don't they? Shall I start? I chose the sonic boom photo of an F-18, purely because a. it looks kinda cool b. i'm interested by aviation c. aviator inspired watches is what first got me into this hobby my other profile avatar is of a Mickey Mouse watch, which I thought was a humourous view on peoples' perception of rep watches. It also happens to be the first watch I owned at the age of 4 or 5! A genuine Disney watch! My nick "Importr" should actually be Import-R, a reference to Import Racing, I was once quite involved in the Import car club scene: JDM cars. I had them in various states of street & track tune. Impreza, Evo, MR2, Integra-R, Civic-R etc etc. The usual rice rockets that are so popular here in the UK. My name Importr was wrongly misinterpreted by the infamous Klink (back in the day) as a back-door rep dealer. He accused me (without evidence) of dealing by PM, and even took to sabotaging my Sig, PMs and even my posts! So, whats your story? I'd be interested to learn!
  19. Yes M, I do still wear it. I added a tyre strap aswell as darkening the sub dial surrounds. As for accuracy, to me it does look very accurate to the gen. I've not spotted any glaring flaws yet!
  20. As it happens, i still have your watch!
  21. Yeah the clasp is definately rep. Very sharp eyes you have! Funny how he describes it like he knows nothing and then ends the auction. Probably got cold feet at the thought of being chased down by an irate customer
  22. Stunning photos and a brilliant watch combo: looks really good!
  23. I actually don't have a problem with buying from any of the cartel or ex-cartel dealers. Since they all give roughly the same level of service. I suppose i have no morals! What I do have a problem with, is dealers who don't make good any problems that arise from their sales. The politics are just a sideshow as far as I'm concerned. I've had worse experiences with independent dealers, to be honest.
  24. If i recall correctly, the Cartel have been known for underhand tactics in the past. So this new revelation is not such a surprise to me. Dirty business is what it is.
