  1. Takashi (2geek) did several AR crystals for me, incl a franken Navitimer, and the result is fantastic. Very close to gen, and glare is minimal. Well worth it if you don't mind the wait.
  2. I've always liked the Chronomatic rep - and that dial is awesome. The sunburst effect is very gen-like. great job, R
  3. Well, from what I've seen, the most common obvious fakes are Rolex Daytona, TAG Carrera Chrono and Breitling for Bentley 6.75 These days probably the 6.75 - wannabes rocking the gangsta look
  4. Pusher extensions can be modified, its the depth of crown which will make or break. PolexPete had to DIY mill his Navi case to relocate the crown tube. My Tag Monaco (2892A2) which I'm wearing now is relatively thin compared to a rep Navi. But with a thicker gen dial, it may all line up in the end
  5. You may need to buy a cheapo plastic movt ring to mount it aswell. Then you have the potential problem of its crown and pushers not lining up with the case. Not that I'm trying to pish on your parade or anything! Lol I Hope you can make it happen
  6. I'm pretty sure that the 2892A2 has closer subs than the a7750. I tried to fit a rep movt to a gen 50th Anniv dial and it wouldn't go. You definately need a 2892... Have a look at the ETA manufacture horlogerie website, the mechaline chrono section. That will have the dimensional data you need. I actually prefer the black dial: it reminds me of the Navi World which is unmistakable compared to all the std Navi homages out there
  7. Thanks to your brilliant review, i had to pull the trigger on YOUR watch! Looking forward to rocking it: will look equally good with a suit or with t-shirt and jeans cheers mate
  8. Sorry HackR, I completely missed this post! The gen dial has a slight sheen to it. Not completely matte, and not shiny. in fact the rep superocean abyss has the same sheen as gen! I didn't file the case horns as I didn't get the old navitimer case. Since I originally typed this thread I went and found a gen fighters! Therefore the project was shelved. The gen B13 went into a BCE. IIRC, you shave off 0.5mm , making the dial 1mm smaller in diameter. Best check your rep dial first to be sure. hth!
  9. ...just my 2 cents.... It's one thing doing dial relumes and AR coatings.... ...but IMHO offering a general modding service is worse than being a dealer. Not only do you have an array of watches which vary in levels of quality and workmanship from the factory, but you also have watches which have been 'breathed on' by third parties which often do not conform to any standard. So when you crack open that caseback - the proverbial Pandora's Box is unleashed. On top of that, you have the pedantic customer. Why anyone would want to be a rep modder is beyond me.
  10. Very very nice! Congrats! It looks fantastic
  11. I also buy cheap reps from CQout, mainly for fun and selling onto others, but never buy the high end stuff from there. Lvmonia sells utter turd, but eshopping88 is ok quality....but not 100% accurate with his pics. One bargain that I recently bought was a GMT Master 1675 with jubilee bracelet. Only £45. Probably way off in terms of accuracy to the hawk-eyed experts, but at a 'longer than quick' glance, it looks close enough to me.
  12. Nothing against Porsche, PD or its owners of cars or apparel....but I just don't like PD watches. I did have a Flat Six chrono a long time ago, hardly ever wore it and sold it on. Some of the PD watches remind me of modern German minimalism. Bauhaus reborn.
  13. I thought PVD was Physical Vapour Deposition? CG - Crown Guard ICHS - InCorrect Hand Stack (GMT movts) CHS - Correct Hand Stack (as above) BPH/VPH - Beats/Vibrations Per Hour eg. 21.6k is 21600 vph SEL - Solid End Link MBW - That awkward focker who builds watches for equally awkward people MBK - a mall in bangkok,Thailand. Incorporating a few stalls selling rep watches
  14. Most of the time, i would say yes the really cheap ones are [censored], but once in a while you can pick up a great bargain (new from a dealer). Only the anal retentives would call you out and most people wouldn't know/care. The price of the higher end reps though, are way overpriced, when you think of the margins being made by the trusted dealers
  15. This is the problem with these online modders. Why does it take some whispers to get the word out, when all you have to do is notify your cutomers via the forums with a simple cover-all post. A dedicated modder section is provided, yet it is not used?
  16. JoeyB is the blue dial metallic blue or flat blue?
  17. Batons @ 3, 6 & 9 should be short and radial, not straight & long Triangle @ 12 should be lumed with border, not applied metal. The silver and blue dial should have a border around each subdial. Which the reps clearly do not. I would hazard a guess that the manufacture stamp between the lugs is also wrong - should be from 2009? These reps remind me of the V1 SOHC rep - with all the inherient flaws
  18. That's disappointing, as I quite like the Special editions of this model
  19. I have a gen Pro-II bracelet on my Abyss. Although it uses the end links for a Colt. Having said that, I have definately seen a gen Superocean bracelet fitted to the rep on another forum. So to answer your question, it will fit
  20. Some really nice pics there...hmm i think i just found my next rep I've had a few gen Aquaracer chronos. and the details on the reps are simply brilliant. Although some would point out one or two 'flaws', the casual observer (or even an AD) would struggle to call this out while it was on your wrist
  21. You did well out of that I've been waiting since CNY for a BCE bezel tab. Given up hope from her now, which is why I'll never order from her again
  22. So to bump up an old thread, which rep dial colour is the most accruate? Blue? the black looks too flat, and isnt the white meant to be cream?
