  1. See joshs site... The original version, but with better lume and original flaws. Jury is still out on dial color match, but it's good to see this bad boy is back. Might have to pick one up.
  2. Excellent advice, thanks for the tip. Cheers mate
  3. Good detail! Thanks for taking the time to share this I'm going to put a swiss ETA into mine, and use the clone for something else... Presumably I don't need to remove the compression key to remove the stem? ...regarding the bracelet adjustment or lack of: I just use the 2 extension links to get the fine adjustment. I think it's really comfortable, and normally I hate lack of fine adjustment. Otherwise I would've changed straps or flipped the watch on.
  4. Presumably you fitted the movt in with the dial? And now the stem is too far back? I'd say you need to shave down the height of the slide rule and maybe even the dial thickness! I know that a Navitimer Hercules slide rule is flatter than b13/b23 Navitimers... This in combination with different cases is how they get the gens built. The reps use a mish mash of existing parts which result in that godawful fighters edition rep we see lately.
  5. Thanks for the comments :-) much appreciated. @fxr: the device rotates but as far as I can tell, it has no effect on the crown operation either way?
  6. Shock & Awe: Jaeger LeCoultre’s Master Compressor Navy SEALs automatic diver watch. Quite possibly one of the finest replica watches made….to date! It’s not often that I’m bowled over by a reps attention to detail and quality of finishing. Having owned and handled many gens, I am spoiled by precision Swiss engineering, limits and fits. Some replica watches really impress me, and in the past I’ve been compelled to create a review to enthuse about it. This is one of those watches, and this is the time for me to enthuse! Let me pass my regards to Joshua and the Perfect Clones team who supplied me with this watch. As usual, their service and efficiency was first class. Many thanks. OK, so this rep has been out for a couple of months now, and this probably isn’t the first review. All the details about the gen are available on the internet, of course. There is a superb review of the gen here: hxxp://www.thedivewatchconnection.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=16251 Now, people will inevitably complain about this watch being utilitarian and boring, others will pick out tiny, tiny flaws which in my opinion are irrelevant. No one is anal enough to even care, in the real world. This is just my celebration of yet another superbly executed rep. Ooo-ra. This reps dimensions are: Case diameter: 42.18mm incl. crown: 48.05mm Case height: 13.07mm Distance between lug ends: 49.49mm Strap width: 22mm Let’s start with the dial side. Very high contrast and legible, isn’t it? This is exactly what JLC & the SEALs wanted, and this has been carried through to the rep. It is said to use colourless AR, inside only. I’ve never seen this combination on a rep before, but it does remind me of Seiko anti reflective sapphire… which is also colourless, inside only. When I look at gen pics and look at this rep I really struggle to see any significant differences on the dial. I’m sure someone will, but damn, it’s close! The lume is strong, not too far from superlume. Blue on the dial and green on the bezel. The gen reviewer says his is all blue, and the prototype possibly with the green one? Anyway, lume application is really neat. All printing is clean and crisp. Date window has nice depth to it, like the gen. Some have commented on colour differences with the grey, although this could be due to lighting, camera, photo editing etc. I don’t see anything glaringly obvious. It has been said that the rep has a few sharp edges here & there. I would agree – they exist on the coin edge bezel and on the JL marked clasp centre. Not a big deal, easily rectified if needed. Apparently the sharp bezel edge exists on the gen too. Case lugs have the polished edges which accurately mimic the gen. A nice & welcome touch to an otherwise very sombre watch. On the picture below you will see how the ceramic bezel insert protrudes from the steel slightly. As per the gen. I presume that this offers some protection from jarring to the bezel edge and more importantly, the crystal. The crown on the gen is DLC treated steel. This appears to be the same. It doesn’t feel like plastic? Look at the case brushing and crease line after the lug. Nice hey? The Compressor device rotates nice & smooth, under friction. The crown pulls out as normal. On to the bracelet. It is a combination of soft touch anti dust rubber, hard resin inside and a steel or titanium frame. The 2 connecting link screws are accommodated by the threaded steel frame. Very easy to resize and very comfortable to wear. Has the flexibility of a bracelet but the weight and comfort of soft leather. The definition on every link is amazing. A rubber strap (band) is definitely not needed for this rep. Perhaps some will try to obtain the gen leather, which will be interesting to see. Butterfly type clasp has 2 pairs of buttons to release it. The level of detail and fitment of this clasp assembly is one of the watches major highlights. So intricate, yet so precise! Each side of the bracelet can further expand by 4mm (8mm in total). The full link length between pivots is 10mm. The movement. An asian 2824 clone automatic. No gold JLC rotor here! I took the opportunity to regulate this better whilst the back was off. Lovely. The case back. Contentious issue for some, not for me! I think it’s great. The engraving/etching is so clear and defined. The SEALs crest could be a gnats whisker shallower than gen, but I don’t like deep engravings. They feel abrasive. The flat caseback sits very comfortably on the wrist. So there you have it. I’ve showed you in pictures what this watch is all about. Forget the miniscule nuances. You know the genuine watch and its development. Now you know the rep. Considering the amount of engineering that has gone into this watch, I’d say that it was worth the outlay. It doesn’t really look expensive, but neither does the gen. It does feel like a high quality watch and that’s what matters. I’d rather pay $380ish for this than $6-7k for the gen. So what are you waiting for? Get it bought!!
  7. I would say that this is gen. The bezel numbers are the correct size, depth and position. The knurling on the crown is equally set & spaced. I know that the above two were very minor tells on the v1 CA, so I'm presuming that the rep sw used the same bezel and crown.
  8. Folks As the title: the movt when fully wound works fine. But when I start the chrono, the main chrono hand runs, but will intermittently stop and start again, then stop completely. Sometimes causing the running secs to stop running, sometimes not. Does anyone know how to fix this please? I have seen this problem before on another ETA 7750, but that problem fixed itself without intervention from me.
  9. isnt it funny how the serial number isn't mentioned or photographed? because i'm sure it'll be similar to that of our reps
  10. IMO, if you intend to keep the IWC for a long time, go Swiss. Well worth it. Not only it is built better, and with better materials, it can take can a few knocks. I've never had an ETA 7750 fail on me, and just the other day i rec'd a new ETA which i accidentally dropped when unpacking. It bounced off a wall radiator and then onto the floor. As you can imagine I was bricking myself thinking I'd just snapped a hand post or two etc., but on close inspection: no damage! I even fitted hands onto it to test the regulation & functions: A-OK!
  11. Anyone ever heard of them? Build quality? nice dial http://www.lausanne-...sanne_sport.jpg portuguese style http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Louis-Erard-1931-Automatik-Chronograph-mit-Datum-73228AA01-BDC52-/360423201477?pt=DE_Kleidung_Schmuck_Accessoires_Uhren_Armbanduhren&hash=item53eae59ac5 website http://montres-louis..._selected=en_ch They have some really nice deisgns, mainly using off the shelf ETA's and I'm quite tempted! http://www.timepiece...-men-watch.html http://www.timepiece...d_heritage.html
  12. Good luck on finding one, although there was a chap here selling gen Kevlar a while ago. Expect to pay a lot though!
  13. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IWC-Schaffhausen-Top-Gun-Chrono-Titanium-PVD-Steel-Watch-Pre-Owned-MSRP-7-950-/180816525979?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item2a19813a9b the usual tells: red plane tail too long, incorrect TG logo colour etc
  14. I've never seen a Ti rep SMP before, and I don't think you'll find one now. Since it was not that popular as a gen, and obviously been discontinued for a long time....
  15. The best thing about Steinhart is that they are Swiss-ish (in other words, QC'd, tested and reliable), and are AFFORDABLE. All these 'nice to have' features would bump up the cost, edging towards Bremont territory - which is why Bremont don't figure on my wish list, when I can get a more prestigious gen for the same price. If it weren't for good reps, I'd probably have a few more Steinharts in my collection.
  16. Just commissioned one of these bad boys in satin black, with single red stitch http://www.combat-st...----144-95.html so i have Kevlar, calf and now ostrich - a strap for every occasion!!
  17. I have a bad habit of buying a watch with bracelet, and then buying the leather & rubber straps too - even if i don't use them all !
  18. I wouldn't say that the one you'll be getting is a super rep. The only "super" Sosf rep was discontinued years ago. This is probably the reason why you haven't had tagged pics yet. I wouldn't trust Mary as far as I could throw her
  19. I once had a Nav-B Chrono-II which was a very solid & well made watch. I got it because it looked like a mix of IWC 3717 and 5002, with gen quality and an ETA movt. The standard AR was crap to be honest, nowhere near as good as the sales pics. I modded it with Taka AR and it looked amazing. However, the 44mm case lugs sat too high on my wrist and wasn't very comfortable, the butterfly deployant wasn't comfy either, as it was digging in. I had to use an IWC tang buckle to continue to use the Pilot style strap. So, in a nutshell, I would've kept it if it hadn't been so clunky to wear.
  20. I've owned a few gen (aswell as rep) TAG's, and I always thought that they were nice watches. Mine were all the 2892-a2 or 7750 powered gens so were not the entry level cheap stuff that the majority of people buy as their forst foray into 'luxury' watch ownership. I really don't understand all the negativity towards TAG from all the watch snobs, it's not like they only made F1's!! I bet those haters never even owned a TAG before. Its just a watch brand creating & selling products; even Breitling are guilty of marketing for the masses, as is now evident. I have to respect TAG for having the stones to innovate and push the boundaries of haute-horology. Having said that, most of their radical designs don't appeal to me. the TAGs on my wish-list are: 2011 Monza Chrono L/E 2011 Carrera Chrono 1887 - silver dial I just need to lighten my Breitling obsessive collection first.... Oh yeah, whenever I see threads about TAG or Rolex opinion on mixed watch fora, guess which brand gets more negativity? It's not the brand we are discussing!!
  21. I never really cared for this model (the gen). Why did they need to put two 24-hr scales on it? So that you could see both timezones in 24hr format? Doesnt take a genius to work out what your own time is in 24 hr format. The normal Abyss with funny bezel font is just about acceptable, but the GMT is like Funny-Font-Fest! To me, it just makes a weird looking watch even weirder.
  22. Yes phones can get viruses. Either via a dload or an sms.
  23. Good job that! It's better to bring a watch back to life than leave it dead in a drawer
  24. Thanks for the comments. Good to hear it from both perspectives, although I think the 'just do it' team won! I had to ask as I just thought; "has someone used it, maybe not in action, but at some point in training?" And would I be erasing someone's memory so to speak. But as it was eloquently put, the museums and reenactors most probably have what they need and this stuff is just army surplus. Yes there are a lot of straps out there, but not what I'm looking for. So I will have a stab at it ...and Red, your heirloom looks perfect. I'd have done the same.
