I always wipe my pieces down with a damp cloth after wearing, then gently go over it with a jewelry cloth. It’s good for the finishing, and minimizes any chance of corrosion from skin oil build up and perspiration. In the early 80’s. I bought an all gold Seiko with a 3 mm thick gold plating. I gave it to my father and now my brother has it. It still looks the same. The gold on the better reps today can be as high as 5 mm. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have a gold Day-Date that I purchased about 8 years ago from an RWG Dealer. I haven’t worn it in several years but there’s no sign of wear in the gold finish. It’s my only gold rep. I buy all SS mainly to not be bothered with the finish wearing off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m familiar with it. Its almost standard nowadays with high end rep watches. It may have been longer than 8 years ago. Eddie Lee was a great Dealer with beautiful Rolex pieces. He was Taiwanese and was always critical of the Chinese pieces. My piece was an all gold day-Date with white dial and gold Roman numerals. The band is still beautiful. You make a lot of sense. I bought the watch from an RWG dealer named Eddie Lee about 8 years ago. He advertised the movement as ETA and that’s what I believe he sold me since I paid $450 for the piece. The movement I just bought is a Chinese ETA clone. I’ll look into the #2 raffles ring.

I purchased a replacement 2836-2 Day/Date movement and it came with a plastic movement ring. It doesn’t fit snug in the case. I tried the original metal movement ring and get the same loose fit. The movement ligne is the same (11.5) I also noticed that I can’t transfer the day wheel from my original movement to the new movement; the date wheel fits fine. Bought a replacement Sub insert and my fingers are getting numb trying to snap it in. Any ideas? I tried it with the bezel on and with it off.

The top pivot jewel for the escapement wheel is tilted in its setting. When I tap it flat and set the the train wheel bridge.in place, it tilts again while tightening. Any ideas?
