Pre-A and T-SWISS-T Officine Panerai - 1997-1998
fishgodeep replied to Oyster's topic in The Panerai Area
Indeed the best single source reference and one I have used and studied countless times Thanks for sharing - the original link was full of concatenation which made it difficult to read sometimes Cheers FGD -
Still looks like a rep to me .....from 10 yards or more The CDG stripe is far from OEM grade - despite the OP text and what looks like "faux" pearlage on the base plate Best FGD Thanks for posting BTW!!!

Just caught up on this thread .....what a fantastic place this is !!!! From question to every possible answer in less than 10 replies !!! I love it!! Best and HNY09 FGD

Fantastic VDB .....another vintage beauty to your collection - your work seems to get better and better all the time!!!! I fear I may have missed the Angelus 240 boat ....or have to pay a HUGE premium for a movement alone. I shall continue searching the antique and junk shops ....in hope!!! Congratulations and Enjoy!!! New pics of my gen Fiddy, gen 005J and gen 024I
fishgodeep replied to robertb's topic in The Panerai Area
Conratulations .....!!! All beauties - but that Fiddy ....boy the finish on each part of that watch is outstanding!!! Enjoy them all!! FGD -
Fantastic work as always RG , however impossible it may seem , you are continuing to raise "the bar" on your own work!!! Oh and congratulations to the owner!! I believe the Canadian posties will be delivering another one of these to you today for almost the identical treatment. But Gen tritium ...now theres a turn up for the books.......any spare ? Cheers and a Happy New Year!!! FGD

Thickness of the dial is the issue - it needs to be less than 0.5mm thick and ideally 0.4mm Standard dials are between 0.6 and 0.8mm thick....sandwich dials being the thickest. They work fine with a FGD 0.2mm dial top plate only but still doesn't solve the deeper than neccessary rehaut that you get due to the way the crystal sits in the bezel. To solve this a new crystal gasket is required Hope this helps?? Best FGD

Flawless Kruzer ...and certainly greater than the sum of it's parts !!! IMHO a keeper, unless as Babola says you already have one, but expect you'll already have a full PM box of enquiries. I wear mine more than my gen 002 for sure! Cheers FGD

Thanks for the response on case backs...it seems as if rep makers have gone backwards on this front. I would love to find the maker of these 27/28 case backs and have 100% accurate and individual A, B, C series 002 and 001 CB's made!! Assuming they'd be interested of course??!? Best FGD PS - Still a beautiful 28A Dani!!!
-
Beautiful Dani ....great work from the Master VDB as usual! You spoil us these holidays with finest PAM's!! Cheers FGD
-
I'd say THE BEST ....I certainly haven't seen one done so well - it's a perfect looking case set and with that dial and movement work is as good as it gets. The only thing I would be tempted to do is install a gen Ti crown from the Turkey Ebay Seller - enesefe - these are IMHO without doubt genuine and given their provenance - most likely made for a A or B series PAM that was never made or production was cut short. A fantastic and inspirational watch Jitai! Enjoy FGD

Dani that looks fantastic ....sublimely beautiful with the PVD finish and the Tritium re-lume... 4-6 weeks and I'll have mine back from Z as well ...I hope! Out of interest ...what's the serial number on your case - I believe they are all individual as with the original Honpo versions I have 3 x PAM 27/28 case backs - 332/500, 153/500 and 186/500. I have 1 on my 27 and 28 ....the 3rd I am fitting to my 022A to make it a correct xx/500 but incorrect OP ....which is the lesser flaw IMHO. Cheers FGD

Really nice collection Pete ...all the key models that make the brand so famous today!! All the best!! FGD

That looks fantastic ...great to see another one "free in the wild" as they were meant to be ....thanks for your appreciation!! Killer combo as well ....looks mint!!! Cheers FGD
-
I expect this is going to be fantastic and one of a kind franken The rep 28 is pretty damn good to start with ...but a gen case set and crystal.....oh my...bring it on!! Best FGD
-
Dluddy...that just looks fantastic  ....everything looks so crisp and right on that dial ...Ziggy's tritium mix is sublime ...and addictive on PAM's!! I'm a fan of DSN's PVD case as well ...although would still like to have the case holes re-tapped and add the correct V CG / have it all PVD'd one day Great strap combo as well!! Cheers FGD

The old ones are the best ....some updated pieces
fishgodeep replied to fishgodeep's topic in The Panerai Area
Many thanks gentlemen for your generous comments ....I have that warm feeing inside !! I've come to the conclusion this place is a bit like Alcoholics Anonymous ...you share your "addiction" with people of a similar disposition ..... but unlike the AA ...it's not to help you stop !!! To the Best Forum in The World.....made by us. Cheers FGD -
My new Great Ammo strap.. Amazing combo with my 118..
fishgodeep replied to V's topic in The Panerai Area
Another piece of history in the collection there V!! It looks great on the 118 with that tarnished buckle!! Happy to be of assistance Enjoy FGD -
Had some time today and have been messing about with a few updated watches and straps combos so thought I'd post some photos I seem to be trapped in the '90's with my collection right now .....they were the good old years before all this credit crunch financial crisis nonsense!!! 5218 202/A - considering the going rate for a gen is circa $80-100,000 - you'd have to go a long way on a rep before it failed on any of the "fiscal" formulas of "is it worth it?" This example is far from finished but I think shows what can be done for less than $500 Specs ETA 6497, FGD dial that I have added a mild tritium effect to the painted indices, Ziggified hands, DSN Case set with "Cape Cod" effect , Non AR sapphire. - mounted on my "grail" strap that's just come back from V's workbench - 5mm thick 24/24 80/150 280 year old Metta Catherina reindeer hide and a Rolli PVD's Pre-V buckle. This combo is sublimely Pre-V looking IMHO!! PAM 001-B - This was my 001-B T Dial (now dropped into the 004-A next) but I picked up the gen 001-B dial and hands I have been wanting for years so this was an easy decision. I installed a new ETA 6497-1 for this one , upgraded the cannon pinion and hour wheel to H3 and it was good to go. Specs: ETA 6497, Jimmy case set and CG, PALP Crown - V1 that's 2.0mm re-polished, Non AR Sapphire 1176/3000 B Series case back, Gen 001B Dial and hands. mounted on a unusally good MP PAV 91 with OEM MX buckle PAM 004-A - As mentioned above - this was an 001-B but I just got a new case set back from Rolli at the same time as I picked up the gen 001 dial - this was meant to be! Specs: ETA 6497, Jimmy case set, PALP Crown, Rolli's perfect PVD service - the finish on the lever pin is second to none, Non AR Sapphire , DSN A Series case back , DSN PAm 40 dial that has been lumed in the incredibly accurate vintage tritium mix by Ziggy with non-matching hands - this is my ALL TIME favourite rep PAM dial and whilst I know the T-SWISS-T is incorrect and the 6 maybe a bit off ....the whole look and "feel" of this dial is very very gen like. Mounted on another strap just back from V - 24/24 K Wong deep ridge black shark with Rolli PVD'd OEM MX Buckle PAM Pre-A 002 - This one is work in progress , but all the parts are there. I wanted to make it up to see how the new FGD Pre-A 002 dials would look with the correct case combo. The dials are not ready yet but in the final stages - maybe a couple of weeks more. For this one I applied some of the same "tritium patina" colour to the indices as with the 202/A ....so it gives a flavour of how the finished dials will look. Specs: ETA 6497, Jimmy case set and CG , FGD New 002 dial , OEM "Kruzer" Crown, Non AR Sapphire , DSN OP6500 Pre-A (30ATM) case back - mounted on the strap this watch was made for - 24/22 GeF "Ciampi Brelli" waterproof crocodile with genuine Pre-A buckle are of Uncle Jay! As always - thanks to Ziggy , Davidsen, V , Rolli , Kruzer , Uncle Jay , Marcus and Jimmy Fu without whom none of this would have been possible! And thanks to RWG for being the best place in the world for people like me to find the people above! Enjoy! FGD
