  1. The movement probably needs the timing regulated/adjusted. It is possible to adjust an A21j to +0.02 seconds over 24 hours (I've done this myself with nothing more than a small screwdriver, and comparison to a digital clock) but it does require a little watch knowhow. See how the watch behaves over several days. If it constantly loses 15m per day, that is actually a good sign, as it shows that the movement is working consistently, so can simply be adjusted accordingly It's when the loss or gain becomes erratic that it could indicate a mechanical problem with the movement Best of luck
  2. Fire means cooking, so thought I'd share our dinner with y'all
  3. Absolutely love it Great to see another snowflake on the block
  4. That's the good stuff right there, bro One heck of a sweet collection
  5. What a series of events, but thanks for sharing, T, it really helps to appreciate just how much hard work goes on behind the scenes to keep this place running Kudos indeed
  6. Just to let folks know, I never received anything or heard anything from the 'seller', so armed with the information so kindly provided by Stormtrooper4, I've set the hounds of PP dispute on them. I know we're taking chances here, and I know our hobby is not entirely legal, but I won't stand for outright deception and stolen pics, so this guy deserves whatever he gets (losing my $78 ) I'll keep you all posted as to the progress of the claim
  7. Thanks for all the hard work to get things back, T It's good to be back
  8. I know what you mean, but sadly, the OS is sill relying on a Clone phone battery, which for some reason, don't have a very good lifespan (strange, as that's where mainstream batteries come from too ) It would be nice if there were some genuinely reliable iClones out there, as they are pretty fun phones, but I think for what they cost anyway, you're better off adding a few extra bucks to the fund, and scour eBay for a pre-Owned. That's what I did, and got an 8GB 2G iPhone just over two years ago. When I got it, it was 6 months old, had only ever been used in a silicone sleeve and with a screen protector, so was in mint condition. I got a good 18 months at least out of it before it finally started acting up (I'm still living in hope it can be repaired when I can spare the cash) so I'd definitely recommend that option, if you can find one in good condition when you buy it
  9. Likewise, I stand corrected, despite the 'flaws' from the comparison photo, the watch looks fantastic on your wrist
  10. The easiest thing to do, is to carefully remove the applied markers (edge of a post-it note does the job well) then spray the varnish, then replace the markers They're just 'pin and hole' fitting, so no need for epoxy when replacing them
  11. That's very true, I really regret that I haven't been able to make any of the GTGs yet as they do sound like a fantastic time all round, and a great opportunity to try out new watches
  12. I wrote a review on an iPhone clone a year or so ago. In terms of are they worth getting, I would say that if you just want 'a phone', then yes, they do the job. But. I've found battery life to be pretty shabby (in terms of the battery not holding a charge for long, after a few months) If you're after a smartphone, I'd suggest just saving for the real thing, as they're much better than the clones in terms of both durability and functionality, so better overall value for money
  13. Oh well, I guess it was worth bringing up as a topic
  14. Seeing the comparison pictures, I definitely agree that the hands are too short. Infact, seeing the comparisons, I would say that the Explorer just looks oversized. Not as in a large watch which is supposed to be large, but simply one which is too big (possibly because of the issue with the hands) As for the dial finish, well, that's nothing a little matte varnish can't cure, then a trip to the spa for a relume in blue (of course, pretty redundant to perform mods on a watch which just 'feels wrong' to start off with )
  15. The cost is irrelevent, I was just thinking that it might allow people the opportunity to try a watch without having to buy it first, and equally, possibly simply borrow something for a few days such as a dress watch or the like, but as pointed out, as with the pass around watch, the idea would probably be more trouble than it's worth
  16. Yeah, it's a real shame that the PAW never lasted, but as you say, sadly there's always those who spoil it for others... Thanks, and likewise, you're always welcome to borrow anything in my watchbox
  17. Well, this is what I figured, there is certainly the potential for abuse, but, I figure if there were rules, such as no international shipping (unless the borrower agrees to replace the watch if there is any customs issues) it might be feasible for members who're established within the community Of course, it was just an idea I figured I'd throw out for discussion
  18. I was thinking, I know that everyone here helps each other out, and I know that in the past, people have lent each other watches for one reason and another. Something else I was thinking about, is supposing someone really needed a watch for a special occasion, or just wanted to test run a model before purchassing, I wondered if it might be cool to have an "I'd like to borrow..." section? Someone could post their requirements, and people in a position to hook them up, could respond with an offer. What do people think? I figured it should be an 'edit free' section, like with the sales, so there could be no "He said this, he said that" BS which could spoil such a thing for others. I'm not suggesting that someone necessarily post "I'd like to borrow [insert member name here]'s DSSD to see how it feels," But maybe a "I'm looking to buy a DSSD and would like to try one on for a few days, can anyone hook a brother up?" or "I'm going to a wedding next Thursday and desperately need a dress watch for the occasion, can anyone help?" What do people think? Yay, nay?
  19. I guess if you're not feeling it, best to go with the original setup Fantastic watch regardless of the hands
  20. Absolutely, ups and downs is all just part of what makes things interesting I hope you had a great night too
  21. Happy New Year from me in the UK Here's hoping 2011 will be even bigger and better than 2010
  22. What a year it's been indeed, awesome having you along for the ride
  23. Fantastic DJ, and while I wouldn't say the mercedes hands put it fully into the 'sporty' category, it's certainly given the watch a bit more 'oomph' than the standard DJ fittings
