  1. I see two options... Either have the inside of the case re-machined to accomodate the dial, or, very carefully sand down the edge of the dial till it fits Just my .2c
  2. Intresting reads, personally, I'd rather see a clampdown on luxury items with price-fixing, so people are only paying what the goods are actually worth, rather than the inflated pricetag of what someone is prepared to pay... Remove the need for the counterfeit goods (which are from the same factories anyway) and people will start voting with their wallets. No one is forcing people to buy Chinese rep goods, people are choosing to buy the goods because it is the best option for their budget, so if the costs were reduced on luxury items, there would be no demand, thus the Chinese would find themselves with a lot of product they are unable to shift
  3. Fantastic post The Tropics never used to appeal to me, but after finding a 'flat-back' silicone strap uncomfortably warm, I tried a silicon Tropic-Style strap, and found it an incredible improvement Comfortable enough to wear on a daily basis, and, unlike many rubber straps, the basket weave texture lends an air of gravitas and allows the watch to still look smart
  4. Black Friday? I guess I'd better keep wearing my black watch
  5. I know I'm lowering the tone with this, but I'm having a hard time getting it off my wrist... On the plus side, the dial and hands glow all night (both only 'factory issue' lume), and it keeps spot on time It also has the correct '10' on the bezel On the down side, I don't think it would stand up to deep diving, probably won't take too many knocks, and might not pass as gen I figured this is a good reminder not to take things too seriously, or forget to do things just for the fun of it
  6. Best of luck, the only advice I can give, is to just chill and enjoy the day As for watch, I would suggest something slim, simple, and on a black leather strap
  7. I've always used rubber dishwashing gloves, and it's no secret that my watches are exposed to water on a daily basis
  8. I really do like how that looks, a fantastic build, kudos indeed
  9. I feel lucky that I felt the need to pull out before the first balance was due to be taken, as I felt I might not have been able to spare the cash. I'm sure I made two payments due to processing errors but only got one refund, but hey, that's life. Hate to read about things like this happening though
  10. I must admit, although I've been wearing my DJ to monitor while I tweak the timing, I think it's going to be a hard watch to take off when the timing is perfected. Even though I originally only intended it to be a 'black tie' watch, it's quickly earned a place as a firm favourite, as the dial is just so clear to read from
  11. Fantastic Good to see you posting again, by the way
  12. Damn that's tasty, what's the era on that, 1940s?
  13. It looks awesome, I really like it, even more so as it was a total build
  14. My deepest condolences to you and your family, as above, it sounds like your grandfather would want to be remembered in the same manner he lived his life
  15. Seems like all the Kool Kids're wearing plastic subs out and about these days, so I thought I'd cut me a slice of the pie. Do you think anyone will call me out on it? [Edit to add] When I installed the new dial, I noticed that there was a silicon gasket around the caseback, and two small o-rings on the sleeve of the crown, so I figured that must equate to some (small) measure of water resistance. So, I took a chance, and wore it in a hot bath, and zero leaks or fogging
  16. I quite agree, I think they spoil the line of the crystal, so I tend to remove them It's a shame Rolex haven't gone with the approach used by Panerai and Ulysse Nardin by having the cyclops on the inside of the crystal
  17. I'm not a fan of cyclops', but I am a fan of customization, so that's awesome to see
  18. That's absolutely awesome, I love it Donerix, your straps are super-sharp, bro, they look fantastic I can't see it happening, but wouldn't it be cool if Apple were to release a software upgrade which would allow the user to customize the clock display to have say, B&R, Panerai and Rolex emulation settings...
  19. I don't see any lume on the dial, but, the areas for lume application are clearly marked, and the other dial markings are crisp and clear. I'm going to go out on a limb and stick with my hunch that the dial might be a prototype which never went into production, as I feel the patina is 'too good' to be artificially induced by anything but 100% natural passage of time...
  20. Anyone remember Gerald Ratner? While JCB hasn't said that he sells crap, he's just shown himself as a Grade A Douchebag, so that's not going to do the popularity of himself, or his watches any good What a tool wanker nb Tools are actually useful...
