  1. As far as "numbers" are concerned, I would venture to guess that over 50% of the members (here, there, anywhere) are/were drive-by's on their way to a Sub rep.

I would be curious to know the number of members w/over 100 posts/topics. To me those are 'active'.

    +1

That certainly would be an interesting statistic :):victory:

  2. You got it Teejay I had to have the gen because it is a beautiful watch.

    Thanks everyone for your comments.

Absolutely, it's a little break from the norm of Sub dials, and all the more of a beauty because of that :victory:

    [Edit to add]

The markers on the insert seem a little thicker than on Rolex Sub inserts, is that a Tudor-specific feature, or is it a sign of an aftermarket or repair center-provided insert?

  3. I have to admit, RG wasn't ever really what I was after in a forum, so the only time I ever log in there is if there's a linked article. If they want to say "My dick's bigger than yours..." :pardon: Doesn't really bother me at all, it's none of my concern :pardon:

  4. Here it is right after its done.

    Jamais Desistir

In English Never Give Up, inspired by my own life and the daily struggles of Bope in Rio( no not a fan since tropa de elite for those that think that, more like for over 10years.) best urban combat fighters in the world..Not even the best in the US or S.Africa can match up in Urban combat to Bope..Just see Wardogs..

Hope you guys like it, pleas show me if you got any ink, this was my first and i used years thinking it out..

Quality ink, bro, indeed, represents a similar concept to the Arabic text for Jihad*, on my right biceps:

    :drinks:

I'm hoping to have the kanji for giri inked within the next week or so on my left biceps, which I feel is a complementary concept to jihad (one needs to engage in jihad to uphold giri) :drinks:

*The term "Jihad" used without any qualifiers is generally understood in the West to be referring to holy war on behalf of Islam. In broader usage and interpretation, the term has accrued both violent and non-violent meanings. It can simply mean striving to live a moral and virtuous life, spreading and defending Islam as well as fighting injustice and oppression, among other things.

  5. Tudor! :thumbsupsmileyanim: i tend to use the nato straps in the winter in cyprus because of the heat you have to wash it every other day!

Oh yes, my favorite dial :tu: I'm not a huge fan of NATO straps, as I don't like getting them wet, as they take ages to dry, but I find them a bit more comfortable in the heat than the bracelet :)

  6. The RJ pieces are very cool Indeed. Although there are a lot of people who think the Titanic DNA watches are In bad taste. They feel that because It was such a tragedy and that so many had perished that It Is sacrilegious to make such a watch. I really dont know how I feel about that piece. :g: Mike (ps) Bring money :o

I know what you mean there, I think the Titanic ones are a bit ghoulish in terms of the origin of the materials, and I think the proceeds from those funds should go to the families of those who were lost. The moon DNA, however, I think is pretty cool :) The Volcanic DNA I would like, if the dial didn't have the lava painted on. It's a bit like the painted PAM dials available... As an artist, I can appreciate the work which has gone into them, but as a consumer, it's not something I'd want to wear on my wrist... :pardon:

  7. that looks good

I usually scuff and bang it up, polish it, scuff it up and polish it.. do that 2 or 3 times and you get years worth of patina. I like when the steel is somewhat shiney yet scratched underneath if you know what i mean.

    dizz

Thanks indeed, and I know precisely what you mean :D That's the look I've got on my 6200 project, but I haven't been able to capture it with the camera so it looks the same as to the naked eye... No flash, and the scuffing's invisible, flash, and the scratches white-out and appear exaggerated... I didn't want to go too extreme on this watch, as it was only supposed to be 10 years worth of wear. To be honest, I think I went a little overboard on the insert (although I do like how it looks, and it does lend some gravitas to the watch)

Nice job broham :thumbsupsmileyanim: Im going to break down and get one of these. I said I would never wear a Rolex, oh well, best laid plans of mice and men and all that :pardon: Mike

Thanks, bro :tu: Go for it, the worst that can happen is you'll be asked "Is that a real Rolex??" :whistling:

This was the effect I was meaning with the sticker... The photos don't capture it quite right... The naked eye can pick up the fading around the edge of the sticker, but without the flash, it's not so visible in photography, and with the flash, it exaggerates the sticker :bangin: Think the color of non-flash, with the diferentiation between the faded and non-faded sections of the flash...

  8. "tool watch (for tool use only)"

I am sure many tools will be wearing one. :)

There is nothing I hate more in the world of watches when people start using the expression ""tool watch"" to describe high end watches.

    Drives me crazy!!

I like the watch. Its a very expensive fashion accessory though for 99.9 percent of its buyers. Not a "tool watch".

I was thinking entirely the reverse, I find it frustrating when people consider diver's watches to be high end fashion watches. In terms of history and design, these watches were designed and built to be worn by divers while diving, not luxury fashion items. Sure, they might be fashionable, but that is not what they were originally designed or built for... Rolex has a lot to answer for in terms of whoring the GMT into an icedout pimp's watch (and most of their lines similarly) and making people think that these were built as high end fashion watches. They were not... The very nickname 'Ploprof' is testimony to its history as a professional diver's watch... :whistling:

  9. Do you know if the watch has an asian or swiss movement? If it's an asian 21j movement. I'd reccomend swapping out the movement for a factory clean and oiled 21j movement(dg2813 model). The dg2813 can be bought for $15 and comes from the factory serviced. If you have a swiss movement.. getting it serviced is probably the better way to go :)

    +1 :victory:

  10. you are right T, exept of this one :D

    d947a03b9efed0723dadb83ad04cccc8.image.400x602.JPG

its a cool watch but you know what a bit pricey for a quartz :g: cause it looks like the one narikka sells exept of the white dial of course, and the price of that one is more then the price of narikas asia whatsoever automatic

It would be interesting if it was quartz, if an automatic movement could be installed :) Even if it couldn't, at least it would keep accurate time ;)

  11. Okay, I researched a little more, I was quoting from a couple of erred blogs, the actual run-time is 2 weeks on a single charge from their website.

Ahhh, that's much more reasonable  Two hours really wouldn't be much good in a watch at all, but two weeks is much better :tu:

  12. Very nice, I'm sure that'll be getting a lot of wrist time :tu: I'm not a fan of NATO straps myself, but that's precisely what my Snowflake project will be going on :) I think for this particular watch, with its military history, the NATO straps are the only way to go :tu:

  13. I think we will get used to it, exactly like you say we did with the DSSD. Especially if it makes an appearence in the next 007. Look at all the Panerais: they've come a long way from the depths of the Mediterranean sea.

My only concern is that there are way too many things that are uncharted territory for the rep makers: the sapphire bezel and the locking system are nothing like anything found in other watches they 've done in the past. The DSSD is an evolutionary watch, where as the PloProf is a breakthrough one. Crossing fingers, and hope I will be proven wrong.

If it was simply an oversized case, I would agree, but I think the Ploprof is too angular to be considered anything other than a tool watch (for tool use only). That's not to say that it's not without its merits or appeals, but I think it's going to be a very niche market for sales (and more so for actual wrist time) compared to other dive watches which have made the transition to daily wear :) Here's looking forward to seeing how well it's replicated :drinks::victory:

  14. yes andy you are right, its a awsome rep, and a must have in any collection, the only thing is that the ingy is maybe to dressy for me atm..but one day i grap one thats for sure :thumbsupsmileyanim:

MOP i was searching for a white dial watch, something like the avenger, but there is no omega or iwc in this category :(

    Just the one above :whistling::tu:

  15. Yes it is ugly. The PloProf is all about function, not form.

The odd case share is a result of the crown guard and the bezel-turning safety. The sapphire bezel with the luminous numbers, the orange minutes hand, the contrasting dial with the long indexes are there to maximize the visibility regardless of the conditions.

If there is something you don't like on it, it is probably because it is not there to be liked, but because of a function it serves.

Precisely, it is a tool watch, but, I think one which could only be worn whilst working as an industrial diver, not on dry land. I'd always considered the DSSD to be a similar kind of 'work only' watch, but some of the wristshots are changing my mind about that, but I'm not sure if the Ploprof could make that same transition... :pardon:

  16. T you find always some real nice watches, this fantasy PO looks very cool B)

realy this might be a option for the white dial watch :D thanks bro :)

To be fair, it was Thogaa who found it, I just really liked the look of it  If you were to find a decent strap, you could always try and source an Omega buckle for it, and that really would be a winning combination :victory:
