Thanks looking to trade it for an FM long Island style actually..need a screw from that watch
It is in fact for setting the silly alarm (=reveil)
Any time Wish I could be of help with the screw, but best of luck with your search
Out of curiosity, what's the alarm like on a mechanical watch? I'd imagine they're not as loud as a digital...
Changed to my DRSD today.
I'm awaiting a gen 25-39 crystal for ti so it will have a better look then this one
Have a nice day
Cats
It still looks pretty good 'as is'

Very nice, is that an additional GMT hand?
-
Still making the final tweaks to the timing...
-
Very nice indeed It took me a while to get used to it, but I've come to really love that dial layout, as it's a nice change from the norm of the regular Rollie dials

In order to not having problem with mechanism, do you know if it does exist Subamariner replicca that are quartz mechanism (with the continous movement of the needle ? Having a replica serviced can be difficult and may have more problem than a quartz one. It souhld be great to have a replica lloking exactly a Rolex but with quartz mechanism.
To be fair, mechanical movements are pretty reliable, it is just like with a car, they need periodic servicing I'm not aware of any quartz replicas available which are of a decent quality. If you really wanted a quartz movement, you could always try looking for a cheap quartz watch on eBay with the right kind of hands, and then swap the movement into the Submariner

That's a good day's watchspotting, bro, I've only ever seen reps one at a time in public

Welcome indeed, you have definitely come to the right place for advice and information

Indeed, a vintage DSSD sounds a very interesting project

Hello there,
Excuse me for my poor english, I come from France...
Last year, I bought my first Submariner 11670 at Idolreplicas :
One month ago, I lost the insert pearl of the bezel and I bought a new bezel insert for substitution.
When I wanted to remove the initial bezel like here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ev6DJT0P4U&feature=related
I have not succeed to remove it but only to put out of order the watch.
So... I want to buy a new and best quality Submariner and I learn that Watcheden is the same company than Idolreplicas.
Now, I hesitate between two models :
Thank you to help me for this choice !
Welcome indeed, and a fine choice of avatar, I like my tea stirred the same way as Steed (a true Avengers fan should know this )
WatchEden is a fine dealer to do business with. Looking at the two watches available, I would suggest the $305 version for these reasons:
- It has the black enamel on the etchings inside the clasp
- It has the green sticker on the caseback (not really essential, but they do look nice) and
- It's cheaper
Best of luck with your purchase
IMO:
The best out of the box is only 'WM9' sub;
or beter 'BK WM9'.
I don't believe that WM9 produces a replica of the 2010 Submariner...

Yep TJ, my thoughts as well!
It should be in the Offshore household in a day or 2, so I will be seeing an upholsterer and try to get a belt buckle to suit.
Dunno what tools will be needed to work on the bloody thing, may need a pinch bar to get the back off
O/S
I know that there are belt buckles avaiable like the Pre-V buckles, maybe something like that might be worth a look? I'm sure you'll find something suitable for it, I can't wait to see how it looks once you've worked your magic on it

I could not agree more Teejay, I dont often wear a watch more than two days In a row, almost any watch can keep desent time for 48hrs. But If you wear a watch for several days at a time, then accurate time keeping Is much more Important. The 23j movement In my UN Is probabbly my best time keeper over a several day period. It's a great little movement that I can have regulated when necessary.
You're quite right, over a 48 hour period, anything upto about +30 a day is tolerable (I wouldn't say ideal or acceptable, but certainly tolerable) without seriously impeding time-keeping, but indeed, it's when the watch is worn day in day out, that the timing needs to be a bit more precise Is the 23j one you can regulate yourself, or does it require a trip to the watchsmith? I took my 6200 in to my local watchsmith a while back, for advice on the 'stalling second hand' and he said that he no longer worked on Asian movements, because of parts issues, but also because economically, it's more viable to just replace an Asian movement than service or repair one Not that I'd actually leave a watch with him anymore, it took him over a month from the date of completing the work, to return a Sub to me (I knew by when the datewheel had stopped, and the date I picked it up ) and it took him well over 6 months just to service the movement in my 127 Of course, that didn't stop me going in to pick his brains over the issue

Absolutely fantastic

Nice TJ. You're gonna have a hard time giving that one up, I bet. You may have to get another.
I must admit, there's something magical about the Pepsi GMT I probably would have a hard time giving it up, but I sent a photo of it to my friend, so he knows it'll be on its way soon The GMT really is a pleasure to wear
-
Awesome Might a belt buckle be available which might be suitable for the strap?
-
Points well taken my friend
Just trying to put the other side across I mean, sure, if a21j movements weren't regulateable, then indeed, the 'swiss' movements would command the price difference. When I got my first Sub, that had a Swiss movement (confirmed by two sources) but it ran at +45 seconds a day, and at the time, I had no idea how to correct that timing. To be fair, most of the reps I buy with a21js come running at about +15 (give or take), I just like to tweak them as close to +/-0 as possible so I don't have to worry about adjusting the time on a daily basis, and think it's nice that they have that potential for reliability. Of course, if someone swaps their watches on a daily basis, and sets them each time they put them on, then that level of accuracy really isn't necessary, but if the watch is going to be worn day in, day out, I think it's good to have it running as accurately as possible
-
I'm kicking it off with my friend's GMT Master II, as I'm still just getting the final tweaks on the timing, and, as laying a watch flat, or on either side causes the movement to gain or lose time, it clearly needs the positioning of being worn to accurately gauge the timing
Note: My friend will be getting this watch once I'm satisfied with the timing

Today I celebrate the sixth day with my current favorite:
Does the other wrist read 'Need'?

I agree with some of your suggestions/Ideas but not all of them. The reason Is that we are not all In the same boat. What I mean by that for example Is, some of us would rather purchase new watches, never know how the watch you are buying was treated, not really. If there Is something wrong with that watch, chanches are you will not get a new one In return. Some people rather not soak a lot of money Into a rep. If they going to spend a $1000 or so they might want to consider a nice gen, say a Hamilton for example. Most $300.00 reps that are serviced are going to be about as good as a rep can be. Maybe not as accurate but certainly as dependable. I agree that sometimes we need to Install gen parts on are reps, especially crowns/tubes etc. I do agree that purchasing the best out of the box rep Is probably a good Idea, thats what I try to do. I would rather have one really nice rep than say 3-4 cheep ones. Im not saying cheep reps cant be good (Hi TeeJay ) all Im saying Is that I perfer the better movements and better reps and better movements usally go hand and hand. I guess the bottom line for me Is, one should buy what makes them happy. RWG Is a deverse community, not everyone likes or wants the same thing. The "passion" for this Horological genere Is are common ground, as It should be. Thanks for your thread. Mike
All the time an a21j can be adjusted to +0.2 seconds per day, with nothing more technical than a pair of rubber gloves, a screwdriver, and a constant time source (pc, radio-controlled clock etc) I'm not convinced that more expensive movements are actually worth the extra money. Sure, the more expensive movements might be serviceable, but a21js are replaceable, several times over, for the cost of a single movement servicing, to me, that simply makes more economic sense... As you say, it's a diverse community, but it's the passion for watches which brings us all together, at the end of the day, irrespective of the costs, they're all 'just watches'
-
Awesome post, I agree entirely with those points, and that's a great suggestion on how to put cash aside for when a good deal presents itself
-
I saw this on that seems not too bad. It seems to have the right size, has the Rolex engraved,... It 's written the watch has a 2836-2 ETA movement, do you think it's a genuine movement or an ETA copy ?
I don't know why sometimes Submariner replica has 41mm case and sometimes 40mm, do you know ?
Thanks
I wouldn't like to say if the movement would be a genuine or an Asian clone, but as mentioned before, even the cheaper Asian 21j movements can be adjusted to as accurate time keeping as the more expensive movements, so personally, I cannot see the point in spending the extra money... As for why sizes are listed differently, I would not like to say... As mentioned above, the WM9 Sub really is the best available

TeeJay I have a question Do you like Tudor's Nice pieces man just having some fun with my bud.
I know you're just busting my balls, amigo I'm a big fan of Tudors... They not only have the 'stealth factor' of not being Rolex, but the dials have more variety and are more 'readable' than the regular Sub dials
-
I would say it's been these three (in various forms of completion)
The thing I like most about them, is they're a little break from the norm of the usual suspects when it comes to Lexs And the fact that the dial graphics were from an awesome guy, also gives a lot of sentimental value, thanks again, R

+1 I love that watch, although I believe it should be Tudor branded

How about a PAM 112 on a cuff-style bund strap?
