Given your other watches, I definitely think you'd notice the size of the GMT when you first put it on (it took me a while to get used to Rolex size after wearing Panerai for nearly a year...) maybe the DSSD would be the watch for you I've not been able to try one on yet, but hopefully in time
-
It's more than I'd personally pay for a watch, and I don't like gold, but in terms of dealer, you haven't anything to worry about, you'll get good quality merch, so if you like it, go for it
-
I know that feeling all too well.. lol
It just makes the anticipation all the more fun, and the final project more meaningful
After my cousin gave me crap about having a rep, I looked at his Seiko diver watch and it was fogged up. I laughed at him and said I bet my "fake" watch is more waterproof than your genuine one (PO with sealed He valve and greased gaskets).
He as an [censored] that will take every opportunity to put anyone down.
I would say that people like that irritate me (they certainly used to) but now I just feel sorry for them, for whatever inadequacy they have which they're trying to compensate for. I don't think they'll ever realize that by putting others down, they don't make themselves look big, they just show themselves up as being tools It's like the guy I ran into the other night who kept asking "How much?" while we were discussing watches, it just shows a lack of class...

I'd vote for the Hublot. I normally really don't like them, but that one, actually looks a bit different the other HBBs, and looks pretty good As a suggestion for something else, I would suggest a Pepsi GMT... I was never 100% convinced about them from the photos, I always thought the blue and red might be a bit garish, but having been wearing one for the last few days, I can honestly say that they're magic, I finally understand why they're so popular

2 hours? That is really stupid.
+1
Mechanically interesting, sure, but utterly pointless to have a watch which can only run two hours at a time ...
-
That's an awesome link for custom stuff, cheers TeeJay
No problem I haven't actually ordered anything from them yet due to funding, but I most certainly intend to
-
I'm interested to see how well it is replicated, but I can honestly say that this is the one watch I would never want to own.
-
I'll never forget the photo Pugwash posted of a fogged up Seiko. I think that was a good reminder that even genuine does not guarantee perfection
If you were to go down the Seiko route, and go with the option Nanuq suggested of customizing, here's a site which sells a lot of nice parts. I'm planning on using it as a source for when I get round to building a totally custom watch for my godson

Thats a good question about the regulator TeeJay. I will have to take It to my watch guy and hear what he has to say. The movement shows the + - for the timing but Im still not that comfortable as to just jump In and start regulating the movement myself. I will let you know what I find out again good question. Mike
If you're not 100% comfortable with the procedure, it's definitely best left to a professional, I've killed a few movements trying to regulate them, before I learned what I was doing... That said, there is a real satisfaction with being able to do things like that for myself, and knowing that I've then accomplished a task

TeeJay, you're a class act. No sneering at yet another Sub seeker just friendly and honest information.
Am I mistaken or does this thread contain just about everything you actually need to know about purchasing your first sub?
falconeye, good luck with the purchase. I personally own the WM9 Submariner. It's on the expensive side for a rep but if you're into the details it's worth it. Maybe your father will be happy with something cheaper, though.
Kind regards
Valerian
Thanks, amigo, just trying to do my part to help

I think I will purchase a mechanical one even if it will be difficult to have a replica serviced.
Hopoe watch international will be a great dealer...
Servicing a movement is not really a problem, as even if you can't take the watch in to a watchsmith for repairs (some will work on reps some won't, and given the law in France, I wouldn't want to risk it) but, as mentioned before, if you have the skills, you can swap out a movement in about 10 minutes (assuming all goes well ) and failing that, there are watchsmiths on the forum who can do the work as well, including a few base in the EU, so as to avoid customs issues Best of luck with you purchase

I think I'll keep this one on another day or so ...Vintage DW with Genuine Vintage Lizard Strap, it looks good on me ???
It looks very good, amigo, that looks to be an awesome strap combo
-
This makes it three in a row... Timing is at +5 now, I think I can get it a bit better than that before posting it off
-
Looking good, but I totally know what you mean about the dial being too busy and it not being an easy watch to love
-
Really?
We need links, my man
I haven't seen any links for a while (at least a year) but they looked the business
-
Looking good It might just be my eyes playing tricks on me, but looking at the actual watch dial on pg1, I would say that the depth rating text is marginally thicker than 'Superlative Chronometer', so it might still be worth adding a little more beef to the depth rating, but other than that, I'd say it's looking tip top

Congratulations, best wristie indeed

Thanks TeeJay it looks good maybe great but a gen crystal makes a huge difference.
I can tell you for sure since i put a gen 127 in my 1680.
Nice GMT you got there Frank.
Carpe Diem
Cats
As long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters

yes much like a vibrator sound
-
Today seems to be the day of the GMTs
I wish I could take credit for this, I got it his way. Bead blasted case, pvd blead blasted lug straps and crown. Roughed up dial, blue hands, with brass back plate. It is on a custom Peaece13 vintage strap and brass knife-edge buckle. It really is a killer combo.
It's an awesome piece for sure
The alarm is not much of a sound at all, it sounds like a subdued purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr sound
Ahh, more of a vibration alarm?

Vintage day.
Looking good, bro, was that a project build?
-
Sorry I missed this one yesterday, bro... That's a really nice watch, and I have a solution to the gibberish clasp lettering, put it on a simple black leather strap, like Captain Jack
Given that Barrowman's a collector of Rollies, I suspect that the DJ isn't a wardrobe piece
-
Looking forward to seeing what's planned

I ran into some tasteless spiv last night while out with my father in law, and the subject of watches came up. He was flashing some gaudy gold and diamond Ingersol Breitling-wannabe watch, I explained what my 79190 was, and all he kept asking, was "How much...?" even after I explained how much Tudors tend to go for... Some people just have no class
help me choosin please :)

Bro, I can't vouch for this site at all, but, might something like this be what you had in mind? A total fantasy watch, I know, but I think on a dark brown Breitling-style strap with cream stitching, it would really look the business
