  1. It was nothing to do with children TeeJay, nothing whatsoever. It could have been a crowd of bodybuilders, it wasn't the issue they had.

Good news that it was just a fine. George is too pretty for prison :D

I thought that the issue was something to do with not being registered in some way, if I'm mistaken, then my sincere apologies. In the UK, people working in schools must be police checked, and I believe that legislation also extends to those such as scout leaders, taxi/bus drivers who operate school runs etc, so I thought that there might be similar legislation in the US which might have been the issue: Not a matter of impropriety or any inappropriate behavior on George's part, but simply a bureaucratic matter of him having not gone through the proper channels with regards registering himself as a tutor. Apologies again for any misunderstanding on my part.

  2. I'm sorry to hear of your troubles and the outcome, but surely you understand the need for people who work with children in any capacity to be vetted and registered? Please do not take that as any kind of insult or slur, as I know your intentions are nothing but honorable, but the fact remains that there are predators in the world, and children must be protected from them as much as possible. Best of luck with any appeal you may decide to launch, and of course, best of luck with your condition. Just remember that they are not having a go at you on a personal level, but a bureacratic one, which, as petty as it may seem at times, exists to protect children.

  3. Unless warrenty is given, you are left with goodwill of dealer. IMO it is unreasonable for a replica watch that is over 6 months old to hold dealer responsible.

    +1

Absolutely so, wear and tear affects all watches, even gens. I have a Swatch chrono knocking about somewhere, where the chrono hands stopped zeroing properly after a while, and there was no mis-handling or rough treatment of the watch. Sometimes, things do just wear out and need fixing, and that's down to the owner, not the supplier to fund (although it's always nice if the supplier can help source parts to make repairs possible).

  4. I've never really spoken much with Hack or Hank, so I'd like to think myself an impartial observer, and would like to offer this suggestion as a possible solution:

Hack, when the watch arrives back with you, return it to Hank, as he clearly said "send it" before you could confirm the situation regards extra link. Hank, when the watch arrives back with you, just throw the watch on a strap until you can acquire the extra links, which I'm sure someone in the community will have spare :) Let's hope this can be resolved like the gentlemen I know you both are :good::drinks:

  5. Really? I know they put the engraving (yuck) on them but they got rid of the lugholes too? I didn't know that. The new ones probably come with SELs too, huh?

The fat lugs 2010 Sub was the biggest mistake Rolex ever made (imho). It's not an ugly watch or anything but how can they be stupid enough to touch perfection?

That's easy, bro, the answer is $$s... They know that not only will n00b watch collectors and posers looking for a nice watch always think 'Rolex', but they also know that there are the collectors who will buy every variant of the watch they like, so it's bread and butter money for them :pardon:

    And on topic...

  6. FUNNY!!!!!

My favorite watches are all the ones you guys hate.

Genta designs rule IMO. I guess that's what makes the world go round.

    World's most beautiful watches:

    Nautilus

    Aquanaut

    Royal Oak

    and the FM Casablanca.

    I own all of them.

I guess the Rolex's are the standard in the beauty category. Duh.

    Or maybe the Nardin's.

Rolexs weren't designed to be beautiful, they were designed to be functional :) The ones which they have designed to (try and be) beautiful, ie with all the tacky bling and gems all over them, just look disgusting

PS For the record, I don't 'hate' the Nautilus exactly, I just don't like it enough to want to buy one :drinks:

  7. Hmmmm...

Best rep I sold... Probably my EuroFakes Submariner. Turned out it really did have a Swiss movement in it... That would've powered Project Snowflake nicely :bangin::pardon:

Favorite rep I sold... My PAM 029a. The only watch which got comments from the laydeez (which made me feel like King Pimp :yeah: ) and a very nice watch to wear Oh well... :pardon:

Most meaningful rep I sold... My Omega 2534.80 and 45mm Planet Ocean. Far from the best quality watches, but they were purchased with inheritance money, so irreplaceable due to the sentimental value. Replacements would just serve as a reminder of what they were, and that they are gone, rather than actually replacing the watches. :pardon:

On the flipside, I'm happy with what's on my wrist, and the projects in my parts tray, so I'm not too broken up about it :drinks:

  8. My first G.Genta was a gen Omega Double Eagle Chrono, possibly my favorite dial, but the bracelet is integral to the case and just doesn't sit right on my wrist.

My MBW PP Nautilus is a gorgeous watch, fits under a dress shirt cuff perfectly and I could wear it anywhere and never be called out. Comfortable and classy. Just a little to prissy and I seldom wear my good suits (the brands that say a PP is completely appropriate) anymore.

My MBW APROO was my favorite watch when I first got it. Daily beater for several months, even considered buying a used gen. Then the economic downturn "touched" me like a 2x4 so the gen idea vaporized and the seconds @ 9 issue for the MBW started to bug me.

Had to have the HBB with all the chatter on the board, wore it 3 times, try it on every week or two but never wear it.

I keep hoping that my feelings will change, but doubt that they will. The first reasonable offer for any of them without the hassles of listing and they are most likely gone.

Also I basically decided that I love my Rollies and IWC's, between them is 80% wrist time.

That's cool that it's a variety of reasons, rather than just any single reason :) I'd not realized that the Double Eagle was a Genta design, but now you mention it, the signature style is definitely there :)

  9. Speaking of Patek, if you buy a watch just to have "the label", a rep of that brand is a very sad possession. Worse than going to bed with a picture of Halle Berry.

    Speaking of Genta,

I love the look of a G. Genta designed watch.

I own several, never wear any of them.

    Go figure.

Interesting, is there any reason they don't see wrist time? When I had a larger collection, I very rarely rotated the watch I was wearing, so many simply never saw much wrist time, is this why your Genta-designed watches don't get worn?

  10. Yeah, I wear mine about like Andy does. I just like to have the watch weigh enough to have the weight itself balance it in the right spot. I guess that is why I would say my YM is the most comfortable braceleted sports watch for me right now. At 40MM it isn't huge nor is it thick of course, but the extra weight of the platinum bezel and dial (I have always been surprised just how much it really does add though you wouldn't think so...

The "balance factor" for me is all about the combination of something lighter with something heavier. The Ti Aquatimer is similar cause the bracelet is of course light as a feather which is slightly loose and then the weight of the chrono movement on top does that balancing thing. This is also why gold or platinum smaller dress watches are so comfortable. The leather strap weighs nothing and then the precious metal on top sort of perches the watch up and holds in in place. Steel just doesn't do that as well on a smaller watch. I love steel of course but I prefer it with a bracelet.

I guess stuff like this is why they call us watch "nuts" boys. The subtle things in life, right?

They're what matter the most :victory:

  11. After once wearing a Casio so tight it left an imprint on my wrist (and during the summer, the sweat made exzma flare up) I've always worn my watches a little loose, just to allow for a bit of movement and for air to circulate. I can just about get the first phalange of my index finger between the strap and my wrist. The only straps I will wear tighter, are NATO or velcro straps, as I find they need that extra tension to keep the watch in place. My biggest thumbs up, has got to go to the silicone Tropic-Style strap I got a few weeks back. The totally flat silicone strap I bought last year (and somehow lost :bangin: ) used to trap moisture or sweat just a little too much to be comfortable, but with its vented back, the Tropic-Style has none of that issue. In terms of aesthetics, the raised sides of the strap give it a real feeling of thickness, almost like a PAM strap, without being over the top, and the basket-weave texture just gives an interesting finish, and is surprisingly classy, if worn with a DJ-sized watch. Obviously not as good as a leather strap with a 'dress watch', but certainly better than a smooth rubber strap, and that little bit more durable :) When I first got the strap, it was only my intention to wear it on watches during the summer/hot weather etc, but I'm contemplating making it a permanant feature :)
