  1. Seems to be lot of new people lately that show up, gather all the Infomation they can and disappear. Most of these new people dont even say "thank you" when you try to help them. In the last few months there seems to more of these types. They just take and give nothing back. I understand that a new member dosent have that much to give In the way of knowledge most of the time. But when you cant take a minute to say "thank you",well there Is no excusse for that, just plane rude. I have sent several new members PM's, trying to answer there questions, most of the time I get no reply, nice :nea: I call these people "lazy" because they dont want to do the foot work, and I also call these people "users",because they give nothing back, not even a sliver of appreciation,nothing..nada.. zero..

I've found that too, and lost count of the amount of n00bs who have PMd asking something, sometimes not even having the courtesy to sign a message with their real name, and never once saying thanks. Oh well, their lack of class is something they have to struggle with in their daily lives, it's not my problem

  2. When a watch arrives from the factory, I clean it by going into the bathroom, running the tap, and soaping the watch up as if I was washing my hands. Then I apply sewing machine oil to the bracelet, flex the links to really work the oil in, then it's back with more soap and under the tap. As for scratches, depends how severe they are... Nail polishing boards are good for getting a good shine, but the watch will only get more scratches when it's worn, so a bit of a waste of time, really. If you can't completely de-case the movement in the event of the case flooding, you may want to ignore the soap and water approach :bangin:

  3. That is the only way i have found so far but all my attemps have been not as good as i would have liked

Only other option I can think of, would be to somehow mask out the numbers, and spray them on, but that could be really fiddly...

  4. Thanks TJ I may just give it a try.

You're very welcome, amigo, very comfortable strap, and, even if you find it's not right for the compressor, it'll still look the mutt's on a Sub or SD :victory: And +1 for this too:

Andy - a 2893-2 powered GMT with an internal rotating 24 hour indicating bezel would be just  I think that's an awesome idea!!! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

    :drinks:

  5. Have you got any close up photos of these TJ

Not a problem :) Just took these of it, and here's how it looked on my Tudor Sub over the summer. Very comfortable, I wore it day in, day out, wet and dry, and never had an issue with the watch getting sweaty on my wrist, or slow drainage after bathing/swimming, I can't recommend the product highly enough :)

  6. Thanks for that, flyingwedge. I've had good experiences with PolyWatch, but I hate how quickly it breaks down in warmer climates. The tube I bought just a few months ago now squirts out a clear fluid, followed by a milky emulsion. [insert disgusting joke here.]

Can anyone suggest a tropical Tropic polish?

I've always found toothpaste to be quite effective. Maybe one of the more abrasive ones might be worth a try for deeper scratches, but I've always been happy with the results from the regular stuff :)

  7. It was a bit od a search for the right hand shape, but i got it right in the end i think, the problem with the brown dial is that it is too brown, i would need to remove all the lume and re do it from scratch, I am ammazed that the seller sells this with a 2824 with standard lume ect for €750!

Yes, you definitely got the right hands for the project :) How do you mean by brown dial? That one looks matte black (and tasty :D ) I was meaning if the lume (and case) were to be aged a little, but I really do like it 'brand new' as it is :victory:

  8. After a few days break with the plastic Sub, and a few days with my Tudor, I'm back to this, just to get that final tweak on the timing. Okay, +1 second over 24 hours isn't bad, but I know I can do better :whistling:

Have a top weekend, amigos :drinks: :drinks:

  9. Seriously though,

There was a thread a while about about the biggest vag magnet watch....there were a few great ones in there. The AP Roo, and Rolex were well featured. I'm wondering what the max flash watch, that would be recognized would be. thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

P.S. After looking at Daytonas, I think the Navitimer looks a lot cooler than that...rep or gen aside.

My experience is that PAMs have gotten the most attention from the women, but I guess it depends on what kind of attention you want to attract, after all, you don't want some lowlife to try shanking you in the parking lot for your watch  I'd actually vote for a simple Rolex DateJust with silver dial and beveled bezel. It'll reflect the light nicely and look good, but not scream "I'm an over-compensating douche who's hung like a hamster..." It'll be noticed by those in the know, ignored by those who don't know any better.

  10. OK... This response is nothing personal and please do not take offense to it because it is not meant to be...

But, seriously? I asked for 'real life' applications and of all the people in the world who could have responded, I get a 'real world' application of paranormal investigations... I mean even you Teejay must smile about this... I have every respect for what you and your father do, so it's not about that... It's just that this is the explanation I get for real life applications of lume...

OK... this is getting interesting ;)

    lol

No offense taken, and I know what you mean, it's hardly the most conventional use, but, as in my other response, when you're in a nearly dark, or even pitch black room, there's not much more of a better time when lume is needed (well, outside of diving/military applications etc :D ) Everyone's 'real life' is different to everyone else's, but for me, that's when the lume really comes into play :victory:

  11. I wear only Reps......gens have no special allure for me. If I like the looks, and it keeps good time, Reps are.........wait for it...................................................................Justasgood.

+1 for me as well :)

Answer to the question = Yes.

However, I am quickly moving into the Ubi Camp or Franken Camp on the Rep side of the house. The satisfaction of improving, building and tinkering adds to the experience. Looking down at my wrist and seeing something I assembled or improved gives more pleasure then starring at a Gen. (Not saying I don't love my Gen collection....just sayin'...). I am pretty much done with 'out of the box' reps, and 'off the shelf' gens.. Plus, there is way too much cool vintage 5hit out there.

+1 on that one too. For me, the building or modification is the real fun. Heck, I was quite happy to wear a plastic fashion sub with a modified rep dial in it for days, just because I liked how it looked and it was a private joke. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  12. Do we really use the lume in real life? Do people sleep with their prized watches at night?

'Yes' to both those questions :) When I help my father in law host paranormal investigations, there're times when a room will be in near total darkness, and using a phone/torch to check the time, would be a disturbance for the folks attending, so I need to be able to read the time in the dark. Same goes for the fact I wear a watch 24/7, and like to be able to tell the time should I wake during the night :)

  13. Post your project when it's completed, TeeJay!

    :good:

I will indeed :) Pretty obvious what the project is, so of course, a pretty clear idea of the outcome, but, the thing which makes it special for me, is that I have a custom-made Bund strap for the watch, Newman-style, which my mother in law paid for as a Christmas present, and was made for me while I waited :) It's now just a question of strapping on the appropriate watch :)

    Ditto Ubi's comments.

And for those of you who are searching for DW, he now has his own forum here on RWG (see Ubi's link above).

Checking the link, I couldn't see a sales area as such, is the protocol with David to make a private enquiry about the part required?

  14. Subdial spacing looks totally off. And 7750's have a large cannon pinion/hour wheel, so you'll need a dial with a large enough center bore to clear it.

If you are after a PN dial to fit a 7750, just get one from DW. I don't believe they are very much...

Thanks for the feedback :) I figured for the cost of the overall watch, it might have been worth risking as a parts donor, but if the dial isn't usable, it might not be such a proposal. I've never actually seen DW's site/contact info, could you PM me a link?

  15. Yup, Tee-Jay - a little dial shaving should be no big deal, right? (famous last words!). I'm not feeling to confident about this - wish I could find out the dial size on the Tudor Tiger chronos...

I wouldn't call it a big deal, but, I'd also say it's a job to undertake carefully and with perfect clarity :) I'd suggest fixing some sandpaper to your desk, then gently rotating the dial edge against it to very very carefully remove the surplus material, as the rehaut will conceal the dial edge once it's all cased up :) Just be sure to work slowly, gradually, and check your progress frequently, so as not to remove too much material :) Best of luck with the project :victory:
