  1. I believe the producers of Minority Report got in a bit of trouble for rebranding an Omega X-33 as 'Bvlgari' without permission. In the first Iron Man movie, Robert Downey Jr can be seen wearing a Hublot Big Bang when he tries to phone for help during the convoy ambush at the start, and when he decides to gatecrash the benefit party, he checks out a Bvlgari (not sure of the model) which is carefully set at 10:10 with all complications at the halfway points on their scales. Amusingly, despite the very noticeable ticking sound, there is no movement of the second hand ;) I looked on WatchEden but couldn't find a rep of it (not that I'd actually wear one) but it was a nice looking watch, as was the Drive Patek :good::drinks:

  2. This Hillary Tenzing edition is pure marketing cr*p for gullible buyers, but I love the look with the NATO strap, so thanks for giving me the idea.

I"ll accomplish this for about $150 lol.

Couldn't've said it better myself, but yes, barring the rehaut engraving, it shouldn't be hard to cobble together a reasonable approximation of this. What gets me though, is it was Oliver Shepard who had his 1655 modified to include the dial and hands of a GMT Master, so that should be the real credit for this release :)

  3. Oh, gag! No straps - PERIOD!! =@:bleh:

I think you might be pleasantly surprised with the Tropic-style strap, the waffle back and venting makes it comfortable to wear in hot weather, and if it gets wet, they dry incredibly quickly :tu: Failing that, I guess you could just put it on a bracelet :whistling:

  4. Try wearing your watch on the other wrist, no thats weird!!!!

That feels so wrong, makes me feel like I'm wearing someone else's watch

I agree T...something about a naked wrist that makes me very uncomfortable. When I look at my wrist I want to see my watch...oh yea...and the time...almost forgot :pardon:

For me, it's not so much seeing the watch, more a case of needing to be able to know the time. I'm not so OCD about it as to check my watch every five minutes, or one of those whackjobs who will continuously ask others what the time is, only to ask again moments later, but the idea of not being able to tell what the time is, well, it makes me feel worse than seeing an unorganized cutlery drawer, and that is one of my major peeves :D I'm not OCD, I'm just 'deliberately organized' :whistling:

Drives me nuts when I don't have one in

Feel naked and that I have no sense of time

    That is precisely it...

  5. I can't stand the knowledge of not having a watch on my wrist, I absolutely hate it. The only time I ever take a watch off, is if it is on a fabric/leather strap and I'm going to swim or have a shower, other than that, they never come off. If I take a watch off to do a modifcation, I'll put on another watch for the duration :bangin: For me, the weight of the watch is unimportant, I could be wearing a feather-light quartz, and not be able to feel the watch on my wrist, and that wouldn't bother me, but the feeling of looking down and not being able to tell what the time is, well, it really freaks me out... :bangin: I would love to carry a pocket watch, but even then, the lack of a watch on my wrist, still creeps me out :pardon:

  6. TJ +1 This is exactly how the game works.. TJ hit the nail on the head if you like it or not...IT'S then rules and we abide by them..;)

    MM

I think the thing to be mindful of, is the differences between American and Chinese business practices. Concepts like customer loyalty/repeat business etc take a back seat to the ethos of easy individual sales and making money off that bulk, rather than playing the long game :)

  7. My thoughts are that it could be due to slippage of the minute hand on its pinion, and that when re-setting the time, it has simply gone unnoticed. As Freddy said, just a matter of decasing the movement, removing the hands, running the crown till the date wheel moves, immediately taking fingers off the crown, and reinstalling the hands pointing as close to the 12 Marker as possible :good:

  8. nice excuse..you cant hear "your favorite music you love" even close to how it was recorded if your headphones/system simply sucks. and dr dre is overhyped overmarketed fashion product pretends to be hifi, you'are basically buying an overpriced crap.and yes, gave benefit of the doubt and tried them. it has HD logo on its box which is pretty hilarious since audio cant be " high definition", should be "high fidelity" hifi, but they know its nothing close to hifi so they stamp HD on it to fool clueless buyers..they dont even provide frequency charts. i cant even imagine how fakes ones will sound...

of course there will be always some retard who wants highest quality sound just to have the best of something just to hear some crappy music but everybody to his own

if you dont want to waste your money and want to have some real headphones with real sound i recommend these

sennheiser hd650 - open cans with great airy sound. it wont match your skater outfit but u shouldnt wear cans outdoors anyway

shure srh840- didnt buy them but very good closed cans, similar to se535

for outdoors there are great in-ears i recommend,

shure se535- best vocals- 3 armature drivers

sennheiser ie80 - best overall sound with single dynamic driver

i owned many cans and in-ears from various brands with different systems but i stuck only with these 3 above

No excuse at all, simply an accurate description of an audiophile: someone who cares more about the quality and presentation of the sound than the sound itself.. And as for 'sucks', I've never listened to music on high quality equipment, I've never had the money or means to do so, and always made do with the head or ear phones which came with the Walkman/minidisc/iDevice I happened to buy, and I've always found it adequate for my needs :pardon: I wasn't trying to put audiophiles down, I just know that I'm not one, nor have any intent on being one. I'm sure I'd appreciate listening to stuff on a high end set up, but at the end of the day, it's just not a subject I really care about :pardon: I was simply curious as to how these rep headphones would perform (not because I want a pair) as a matter of interest :) Thanks for the hardware recommendations though :good::drinks:

  9. I'm having trouble with photobucket at the moment, but y'all know what my plastic submariner looks like... I've had it on for the past few days, and not feeling the needto change it for a while :) Had a bit of snow here, Saturday evening I stripped down to my underwear and did a 10 meter snow walk while it was still snowing... Not as cold as I expected, but it felt really good to do it :)

Hope the scans go well, Cats :good::drinks:

  10. Thnx for the advice, will give it a try!

on the site of tritec I found a lume application tool called zeller stylograph, is a tool like that available somewhere?

Would like to try that too..

And what lume do I need for a DSSD. Don't mind paying some money for it..

I will practice on magazines first like the Zigmeister said.

How can I remove the lume from the hands? some say just throw them in nail polish remover for a while.

No worries, glad to be of help :) Not sure where you might get a stylograph, maybe eBay? As for the lume forthe DSSD, I believe it's SuperLuminova, but I'm not 100% sure... As above, just put the hands in nail polish remover and let the solvent work it's magic :) Best to do that in a ventilated area if you want a steady hand for the reluming
