I agree but I'm still contemplating the degree of 'wear' I would like to give it
I think I will start gently with smoothing things up and see how far I can take it
I'd suggest some scuffing on the underside of the bracelet at the edges of the wrist and the clasp to simulate wear, and maybe the occasional ding on the case wouldn't look out of place
-
My only suggestion would be to give the bracelet and case a bit of a flogging: A watch which was sun-damaged to such a degree would not have been a safe-queen
Other than that, I can't make any suggestions for such a fine piece
-
Looking good
-
That does look pretty bad-ass, especially in direct sunlight
I really like the olive green of the insert, I think it would look fantastic on a NATO or Tropic-style strap as well, proper military-style
-
Looking good, bro
Is that the Corvus Bond strap?
-
I can't really help with your decision, but that's beautiful work on fading the insert

Watch projects help me keep my sanity; they provide a nice little distraction from the daily stress and issues at the office.
Little beats the pleasure of a good build
-
Of course we're ALL insane...Spending money to buy obsolete technology that only serves to inform us of info available universally for virtually nothing!!!
It's a matter of degrees, and how skilled one is at self delusion ....in my case....I have always funded my purchases by selling other stuff that I convinced my self to buy earlier, such as other watches, cameras, or other such junk...
Just yesterday, I saw a Panerai rep offered for sale on one of the boards for $6800.00.......NOW.....THAT'S CRAZY!!!!!!
:bangin:
Was it being sold as gen or some kind of über modded?
-
I couldn't resist either. Has anyone seen what movement is in the case?
A21j... Mine was about +5 sec/day on arrival

Another +1 from me
For the ££ you can't really complain. Ok it's not perfect but it's only £32. Mine took about 7 days to arrive
As summer's here, I'd highly recommend one of these straps instead of the SS bracelet, super-comfortable in the heat, even when wet

Maybe this one? http://www.cqout.com/item.asp?id=14956549
Not sure about the crown on the crystal, but it's cheap enough to give it a shot I guess...
+1 It's a fantastic piece for the money, I can't get mine off my wrist

Still no pics, but 16610 on Tropic-style strap (the insert popped out of the Tudor sub, and I'm out of superglue, so the summer beater had to go back in the box
)
-
It's never really occured to me. I figure that collecting anything costs money, and I either have enough for a piece, or I don't (mostly the latter
) Even though I'm still building my collection, I'm trying to keep it reasonable: I stick to one brand which I like, and am trying to use the discipline of a daily beater, and others to then alternate to depending on situation. That allows each watch to have it's day, rather than just gathering dust as a paperweight due to not being able to take off a beater
I figure that way, I'm not simply buying for the sake of buying (well, not too much
)

I doubt circumstances will allow me to make it, but I hope everyone has a great time

Thanks, I think I'll be able to work with that size

I had 'an idea' while on the train yesterday, but need to know the size of the dial... Thanks in advance
-
Thanks TeeJay. Sounds like a bit of a challenge but unfortunately they cant be left as is. This is going to be interesting...
No worries, it's more of a challenge to descrbe the procedure than it actually is to carry out
But as you say, it can't be left as is, and with the dial feet in the wrong position for your movement, they're no good to man nor beast, so no need to feel bad about snapping them off
-
To straighten the dial, simply de-case the movement and remove the dial from the movement, then replace the crown stem in the movement. Clip or snap off the dial feet, then use a few 4mmx4mm squares of double sided tape to fix the dial to the movement, lining up the 15 minute marker with the line of the crown stem. As long as you're comfortable with doing this, it should take no more than 5-10 minutes to do, and the dial will be straight
I've done this with several watches, using decent quality tape, and never had an issue of slippage

Hoe Lee Shit!!! That is an absolutely stunning presentation
:tu: I take my hat off to your creativity and style
Pure class

Not the first time I've heard of the glide-lock clasp welds failing... (I wouldn't trust one period) Sorry to see that it's messed up your watch though
Would you have to replace it with an identical part, or would you be happy to put a bracelet from a 16610 on it instead? Other options would be straps
Best of luck

Thanks bro!
I picked it up in Nov 2008, wore it a few times and gave it to my Dad. He wore it as a daily beater for 3 years and handed it back to me
(he now wants something a little different!) I was going to re-finish it but felt the scratches/dings/wear gave it so much more character
It's still keeping excellent time too!
Fantastic, and absolutely, it's all about the character
-
I'll throw in my .2c and suggest a Blancpain dive watch fitted on a Tropic-style strap
-
Damn that's looking tasty, bro
Where did you pick it up from?
-
Looks super-clean, T, very nice work
Thanks for keeping things running smooth
