  1. Unless you are out to replicate a vintage down to this level, SuperRep, don't worry about it.

It is not even tell-- unless you are setting the time, of say a vintage Rolex rep, in public, in front of a Rolex EXPERT as an example.

Here on these forums, it is more of a "vintage" movement thing. (i.e. OLD Submariners up until about ~1974~ were NON-hacking.)

The most common movements found in our Reps: ETA 2836, 2824, 7750, 6497, Asian 21Js are hacking.

Surprisingly, most (modern) Seiko divers are still NON-hacking, the 7S25, 7S26 work horse movements.

I disabled the hack on my vintage project Sub :)

Not for accuracy to gen, of course, but because the movement kept stopping under impacts, so I figured the easiest thing to do was to bend the hack lever away from the balance wheel so it just wouldn't touch it at all  Problem solved, and, as an added bonus, the movement is now more historically accurate

  2. The Underpants Gnomes saw fit to return my camera (thieving motherfuckers  ) so I thought I'd take a quick shot of the re-worked vintage Sub. Since it's last incarnation, it has had a new dial (Slartibartfast dial transfer which I lumed myself) a new movement (which I've disabled the hack on) a new insert (lightly filed) and I re-finished the case and bracelet to take out some of the more superficial scuffmarks, leaving only the deepest, but by extension, 'blending those in a bit' for a rather nice finish :)

  3. I just want my shit back. I am like a Junkie expected to go cold turkey. I got no watches ,,,,,,I feel cold.....momma....is that you

I wouldn't like to say if you'll definitely get the stuff back if it's definite theft (incompetence and loss, yes, but it's definitely sounding like employee theft) I guess all one can hope for is a satisfactory resolution, and a harsh sentence for a federal crime...

  4. Damn, that's sickening to hear, I really hope you can get this taken care of. For what it's worth, if this stuff is all being taken by an employee (and probably the same employee), chances are they are pilfering other people's mail as well, so if they get caught, that's going to be meaning some serious time in a federal prison (messing with the mail is still a federal crime, isn't it?) I really hope you get it resolved :)

  5. I am going to compile all of the issues outlined and request a meeting with the local Postmaster General.

I am sure there has to be some legal recourse for items shipped via "Priority". There must be some sort of chain of handleing. Surely there must be a way to prove the last location of these packages.

    Any suggestions?

That sounds like a good idea :) I would suggest asking precisely what procedure occurs, as you say, find out the chain of handling, and then find out where the weak link is and what they propose to do about it to compensate you for the losses :) Best of luck :good:

  6. Don't discount the cheaper watches, they can be a good way of seeing if you actually like a watch or not, so saving on a chunk of change... For example, from the photos, I thought I would really like the Vacheron Constantin Overseas, but when it arrived, I couldn't stand to wear it. Sure, it looked fantastic, and there was nothing actually wrong with it, but everytime I put it on, a little voice yelled getitoffGETITOFFGETITOFF!!! I was glad that I'd only bought a cheaper, rather than more expensive version, and the only difference, was the movement...

    Welcome to the party :drinks:

    [Edit to add]

Another example would be the Rolex 1655. Absolutely iconic watch, and one I thought I'd really like. While I can wear it without the getitoffGETITOFFGETITOFF!!! going off in my head, I don't feel particularly connected to it as a watch (despite reluming the dial and tinting the GMT hand myself) and although I think I will keep it 'as a spare', I don't think it will ever be my first choice to wear if I have an alternative... Not cash I regret spending, as it was incredibly cheap, in fact, I'm glad I only bought the cheap version, as had I coughed up $200+ for it, I would have been really frustrated, and probably re-sold it to try and recoup some of the loss...

  7. The bie releases of Win7 do not need a key ;)

Installed that release on about 5 work mates PC/laptops, and tested first on my desktop and it works perfectly, no need for keys or cracks, as the loader is already pre-installed. Just leave the part where the install asks for a key blank, and untick the activate online box, easy as pie.....

The download's finished, but when I try to open the file, it just tries to burn it to a CD... Is that a necessary step? I've never actually tried installing a new OS on a computer :D

  8. Its easier to swap the bezel? I have no experience with mods like this and dont want to do something wrong.

If you're only swapping the pearl, it's much easier to only swap the pearl :) All you need do, is pick out the existing pearl with a fingernail, then use a toothpick to dab epoxy round the inside edges of the hole in the bezel insert, then simply press the new pearl into place :) I find it best to rotate the entire bezel assembly for a few minutes just to be sure the epoxy doesn't lock it solidly in place :tu: Really very easy to do, best of luck :)

    Thanks, bro, downloading now :)

I havnt reinstalled Windows in years since i discovered "deepfreeze" you basically sandbox your system meaning anything you run or download isnt a permanent problem once you restart your PC, it goes back to factory fresh. You partition your drive and keep one partition "thawed" for holding data like personal important stuff and downloads you wish to keep. It's good practice regardless, to keep the system drive and everything else on a seperate partition, makes restoring a bad system a breeze. You can also restart in a universal thawed mode to do updates and maintenance to the frozen drive. I no longer have an anti virus or spyware software installed, freeing up system resources and my boot time.

That sounds interesting, I'll give it a look :)

  10. Could be the poor rep quality lume, flaking a little bit over time onto the dial and crystal maybe?

    +1

If this is going to be a recurring problem, I suggest learning to de-case the movement and clean the glass for yourself. It might also be worth removing the dial completely, and giving it a single dusting of a varnish spray, so as to hold any lume (if it is lume flaking) to the dial :) If you keep taking your watch to a watchsmith for such work, it is going to not only get costly very quickly, (unless he is prepared to keep re-doing the work for free) but make you unpopular with the watchsmith, and possibly make them less likely to work on your watches, thinking you are a demanding customer... It's such a simple thing to do, it only takes a few minutes to do :good:
