  1. Welcome to the party, always good to see a new UK member joining the ranks :victory:

After trying on a rep 111, I doubt you'll be bothered about getting a gen, just with getting some new straps for it :tu: The best advice I can give, is to order some 24mm PAM springbars off eBay. It makes changing straps a piece of cake, and also completely side-steps the issue of lug threads stripping in time, or being stripped on arrival (it happens) as with springbars, it's just not an issue ;):good:

  2. This was my school TJ >Here

My "teacher".. because he did not think he should be honoured with the name "Sifu",.. teacher is pictured with his Sifu (the older of the 2) who came to Hawaii and brought Arthur Lee with him as a young boy, Mr. Lee's Sifu was from the Shaolin Monastery, the younger Man. is Mr. Lee' Son .. Harland.. when Harland was very young I gave him one of my surf boards, and he grew to be a very accomplished surfer.. We were never allowed to spar or enter contest with other schools..

Mr. Lee was ostracized by a lot of the Chinese Societies because he believed that the art should be made available to all that sought help in learning to master one's body.. so there was a huge split in what is referred to as "society" or school..and Mr. Lee's vision was to have every ethnic race as one ..joining in the Lion Dance in parade with the other exclusively.. Chinese Societies.

That vision became a reality, and rocked the basis for opening elite schools to all in Hawaii.

Later he entered his elite students in combat .. his Son Harland fought one of the All Stars from China.. as he was the National Champ from the USA.. Harland lost but the bond now with Societies from all over the World and the Gee Yung School is very strong.. they host martial artist for all over the World for the Lion Dance competition.. the lion dance incorporates all the Kung Fu movements and "dances" or "Sets" . The Siu Lum Fat Ga style of combat is defensive and get's confusing when it's sole purpose is offensive..so if you answered the question of why you wanted to train with "I want to learn how to fight".. you would be rejected as a pupil..

A lot has changed over the years, now there is a web site.. and ads for the school, where as back in the day it was a more or less unadvertised.. 30 to 60 minutes in the full horse "Ma".. will humble anyone that thinks their in shape ...

I have yet to have the honour of sitting down with Omni.. I have spoken to him on the phone.. I look forward to us meeting.. I can only imagine the wisdom to be had from the Omni... :thumbsupsmileyanim:

That's quite a story, and a fantastic example of how people can come together regardless of ethnic/racial societies :good: That's always inspiring to hear about :)

  3. Never had the privelege to meet him.. he has been in Hawaii on occasion..

the one Movie dude that I did have the pleasure of meeting and training with was Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, he is also a 5th or 6th degree Shodukan Sensei.. he has a lot of celebs that train under him in LA.. but has a home on Maui.. he makes you laugh coming into the gym with his Geta Japanese shoes..

A pic of the shoes Cary used to come into the gym with.. clip clopping along.. the guy is a real comedian .. we always had a good laugh before starting

He's one of the truly humble guys.. actually was raised in Oklahoma .. Mom from Japan..

I remember reading that he was from the islands, and that his father, Al Dacascos was a well known Sifu, so I just wondered if you might have ever crossed paths :) Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa on the other hand, I did not know had the Hawaii connection, but definitely an actor who's work I have enjoyed over the years, so thanks for sharing :):good:

  4. Have you tried tweaking the side of the latch with pliars? If the ball-bearing is definitely the problem, then it's going to need a new clasp. Best of luck getting things resolved :):good: Yes, many of the DSSDs lately have been showing flaws of some kind, but a safety latch which will not stay closed is something which any decent QC check would have revealed. It's totally unacceptable for a 'trusted dealer' to take that attitude with a customer  If they refuse to help you, you should name them publicly.

  5. Dude! If not for Emily, you look like ready to get some "money out of the bank"! :D

You two are looking lovely together! Regards to her! :drinks:

  7. Facts:

Eldrick Tont Woods (born December 30, 1975), better known as Tiger Woods,[4] is an American professional golfer whose achievements to date rank him among the most successful golfers of all time. Currently the World No. 1, he is the highest-paid professional athlete in 2008, having earned an estimated $110 million from winnings and endorsements.[5]

Woods has won 14 professional major golf championships, the second highest of any male player, and 71 PGA Tour events, third all time.[6] He has more career major wins and career PGA Tour wins than any other active golfer. He is the youngest player to achieve the career Grand Slam, and the youngest and fastest to win 50 tournaments on tour. Additionally, Woods is the second golfer to have achieved a career grand slam three times along with Jack Nicklaus. Woods has won 16 World Golf Championships and has won at least one event each of the 11 years they have been in existence.

Woods has held the number one position in the world rankings for the most consecutive weeks and for the greatest total number of weeks. He has been awarded PGA Player of the Year a record ten times,[7] the Byron Nelson Award for lowest adjusted scoring average a record eight times, and has the record of leading the money list in nine different seasons. He has been named Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year a record-tying four times, and is the only person to be named Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year more than once.

    Here's another one:

He cheated on his wife... As mentioned above, that's all he's going to be remembered for from now on...

If we look at what brands have dropped Tiger they are the ones who sell products equally to men and women. Tag had much to lose by sticking with him....their women buyers. Men have a very different opinion of Tiger and his transgressions than women do. My wife and 16 year old daughter think he is a dog plain and simple. They want Elin to leave him and to leave him fast. To them the Tiger Woods brand now stands for lying and cheating. I know that I am generalizing about women based on the two I know but any exceptions do not disprove the rule. To women Tiger has committed the worst sin against his wife.

I am not surprised that this happened. It seems that heroes are regularly being exposed as being incongruent people. Think back over the past decade of people who have portrayed themselves as being good, solid and trustworthy and then been caught with their pants down or hand in the cookie jar.

Roy Rogers is gone and so too are his kind.

Absolutely. I think the character portrayed by Patrick Swayze (RIP) in Donnie Darko was very deliberately created to put that message out there to the celebs: Watch out what you do "in private", because of your celebrity, your lives are not private, and you will be found out in time...
