  1. Silly me, clicking download on an unknown file, and within seconds, the usual "Your computer is at risk, download Spyware" pop ups... I was surprized that the AVG didn't catch it as a malicious file, but, no worries, I used Superantispyware (program), and that cleared the trojan, but for some reason, I couldn't get online. IE was as much help as a chocolate tea-pot, but Safari at least gave an error message, which I googled, and found the suggestion to try creating a new user account. Did that, and all seemed to be working fine again, so I set about restoring my preferences, and decided to erase the old user account, and that's when things started going wrong... I'd previously been running Vista OS X, but when I tried to re-install it on the new account, I kept being asked if I wanted to uninstall it, but checking on the install/uninstall frame showed the program as not installed (but saved as a download to the desktop) Might this have had something to do with it? The system is slow as molasses, and most programs are 'not responding'. Attempting to restore the system did nothing (if anything, things got worse) so I was wondering if anyone here might have any suggestions... Any places where I could just download a fresh copy of vista I could download to another PC and then upload to this one? Any other superduper anti-spyware worth running (although every scan says that there are no harmful files on the computer) (or any similar ideas?)

I'm going to call it a night, having spent nearly 24 hours on the problem...

    Thanks in advance, amigos :drinks:

  2. The gen clasps are crap and this is more convient then the original clasp.

I'm not a big fan of NATO's though I do have my share of normal 1 piece straps that i wear my watches on. My personal fav's are a grey or a Bond maratac style strap.

    That's a fine build :victory:

Awesome use on the DSSD clasp, I have plans to do the same thing on a project build :) If you were to put the watch on a black NATO strap, it would look just like one of the military Tudor Subs I've seen reference photos of :)

  3. I just wanted to say that I rarely read a post on this forum without learning something. Thanks guys for some great info and a good topic.

    Happy New Year!!!!

Always glad if it helps someone :) I admit, A21js are probably more a case of 'replace and chuck' rather than having serviced (cost efficiency) but I really have had no cause to complain for their performance out of the box :) It's only when I start tinkering that things went wrong ;):whistling:

  4. OMG! It totally went past me!

    I LOVED THAT FILM!!

Lord, after I saw that movie I carried it with me for weeks. That's how I judge a great movie. Thanks T'J, that's just great.

    Cheers!

    Still ow.

I know what you mean, it's a totally awesome movie :) I started watching it on the plane to Tokyo, but never finished it before landing, so re-watched it coming home, and was totally blown away by it. Glad you like the banner :victory::drinks:

  6. I found Japan pretty affordable. Train tickets were about the same as in the UK, but you get a designated seat, so there's no jostling for seats. It's expensive to go out drinking, but, there are loads of vending machines and convenience stores, so food is easily and cheaply available :) If you were to stay at a capsule hotel, you could cut down on accomodation expenses and have more cash for other things :)

  7. Very Tasty :good:

I think the dial print 'Date', is nicer than 'DateJust'. I know that there is the DayDate, but I feel that 'DateJust' sounds like it is apologizing for only having the date function, and not the additional day function, so 'Date' just covers exactly what it is and what it has :) That's a fine pair of watches, wear them in good health :)

  8. I'll just throw my .2c in, and point out that I have never had any problem with an A21J movement which I did not cause myself

I would never buy the Swiss option if I could buy the Asian option, and the only reasons I will be making a few 'Swiss purchases', is because I need the movements to fit specific hands which are not available for the Asian option...

    Happy New Year :)

  9. That picture was from Jewelryandwatch.com (Phong's site). I really do not know if there was such an animal or if this is pure fantasy. I seem to remember seeing a picture of the same watch with a 1655 type of 24hr hand (large orange and white), but I never saved the picture and cannot find it again. These Tudors' were made as prototypes in the the early '80s for the U.S. Navy, there is more info on the "Rolex blog spot".

    Cheers B)

I'll have to have a look and see what I can see :) I'm not 100% sure of all the facts, but from what I can gather, there were only two of these as 'genuine watches', with all the others being reps, but I love the styling of the case, as it's such a departure from the traditional Submariner, but still clearly recognizable as Rolex/Tudor lineage :)

  10. TeeJay, that is a great idea. CONUS or North America PAW, and perhaps a UK, and/or EU might make sense. Aside from customs, the person who gets stuck shipping internationally is going to end up paying up to 4x the standard shipping costs.

That's what I was figuring, it would save any custom entanglements from international shipping, so hopefully keep the PAWs in rotation :)

  11. I'd say Gen. The case has a load of hairfine scuffs all over it, which to me, appear to be natural rather than 'man-made'... What kind of sicko would want to make a watch look old :whistling: Joking aside, I would say gen, maybe with a new (aftermarket or otherwise) insert. I'd say it's a watch which has been used during its lifetime, but never abused :)
