  1. Well guys this one is on the way to me. :thumbsupsmileyanim: I made a deal with the seller for a trade plus a little cash for a watch that was sitting in my watchbox gathering dust.

Here is the story as he told me. He traded a genuine Daytona w/ boxes papers, erc. to a collector in the SF bay area, the collector traded this Tudor and another Omega Chronograph plus a pile of cash. He told the buyer the watch was recently serviced at Rolex SF (And affiliate Service center not owned by Rolex) and what TeeJay said was exactly right. No genuine Snowflake hands were available, so they put Mercedes hands on the watch. Tritium to match the dial. So the plus is the watch has a recent complete service, the minus is I have to source a set of hands to make it correct.

So guys, does anyone have a source for Snowflake hands? I would really prefer to use the real thing rather than aftermarket, even though I know they are much more expensive. All help advice would be sincerely appreciated.

    Thanks

    Arthur

Congratulations on a fine purchase :tu::1a: ClassicWatchParts has aftermarket Snowflake hands, but I wouldn't know where else to suggest... I'm sure someone will be able to point you in the right direction, best of luck :):good:

  2. How Sweet! :wub::wub::wub:

There's some awesome photos, and nicely broken down into categories like Chronographs, Aviator watches, Diver's watches, GMT Watches, Toubillon Watches, etc etc :) Emily gave me the cash to order a new watch, as she wanted me to do it so I'll order the right one  I finally settled on a fantasy version of the GMTIIC. Essentially a PVDd GMTII with black insert, but still with green lettering and green GMT hand :) Not intended to replace the Tudor Sub, but to serve as a 'vacation watch', and possibly an alternate wearer if a change of color-scheme is required :D Of course, I'll be performing a few mods on it when it arrives :whistling:

  3. Why did they do that? Can't you find Tudor hands all over the place for cheap?

Supposed we should have xray eyes and know which movement is in the case and believe him...

It might be that when the watch was serviced, there weren't any Snowflake hands in the repair center, so they just threw on the Mercedes set... I do intend on using Snowflake hands to complete my project, but it means obtaining a Swiss movement as that's what the hands are sized for... All costs... I'm hoping to have the project completed by summer :)

  4. The biggest advantage going with the yuki case is the fact that the crown position will be correct. The biggest disadvantage with yuki is of course the price. It will be more expensive. Also there has been some talk that some of the newer MBW watches do not take gen parts such as the bezel like they did in the past. I know you said you do not want a gen movement but with the yuki case that is still a possibility if you change your mind in the future if you change your mind. There are some really nice dials out there but a lot of them have feet made for gen movements.

The one thing I would point out, is foot positioning is pretty much irrelevant... They can be snapped off, and the dial attached to the movement with dial dots/double-sided tape with no issue at all :) No need to discount a nice dial because of foot positioning, when it is so easily overcome :)

  5. All of my wristies of 2009 Superimposed together......this what came out:

    wristies09e.jpg

That is an awesome effect :good: When I first saw it at a glance, I wondered if it was a shot through ice, or something along those lines, but that's really something :)

No wrist shot from me, as there's no prizes for guessing what I'm wearing :D

Seasons greetings to you and yours, amigos :drinks:

  6. I was quite dumbfounded myself when I saw the interview. To think that someone would be that careless with a "suspicious" object is quite unbelievable. However, the interview sure does seem to be pretty legit to me.

Some of the comments about the interview were pretty condemning of the interview itself, questioning its impartiality, etc, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was just a put up job to get some reactions...

  7. Hahahahaha, nice Spooky!!!

Kinda my point too TJ!! Doesn't really ring true huh?!? But then, as stated, we have had to deal with it for a long tme, you learn lessons like that REAL quick, they tend to be the ones you don't make twice!!!

    Sixx :bones:

It's not the kind of thing I would expect UK officers to do (and as you say, they're used to dealing with IRA shite) I certainly wouldn't expect it of the Isreali Militia, those guys are Hardcore and know their shit :D

  8. It's this sort of attitude that diminished the potential for support in the other forum.

Honestly, dude. Reps may not be for you if you don't get realistic.

And getting all dramatic with an admin...

    Just my $0.02.

Exactly. I stand by my previous comment that it would not be acceptable conduct from a 'trusted dealer', but, D4M is not a dealer (that's not to say that he's not trustworthy, because he is. Very) But. What a regular dealer might be able to replace with parts, he might not, which is why his terms of business are very clear. This is not a case of 'here comes the back up', and with any other actual dealer, I would say it was unacceptable. But. When someone is so clear and specific about what they will or will not guarantee, it is a classic example of 'choose your dealer, then choose your watch'. Best of luck with getting a satisfactory resolution :good:

  9. I read all of the posts over on RWI related to this problem, and I have to admit, Daytona has very clear and specific warranty rules. He is the administrator over there, and I would imagine is trying to source watches for members at a lower price than the regular dealers. Because he is doing this more as a hobby and to help others, I can understand why he has pretty rigid requirements. Dealers wwho work off volume sales, and have lots of watches on hand can replace watches, parts, etc.with no problems, thats what they do for a living.

You didn't mention any of the other problems here, just the fliplock problem, which i believe is and easy fix.

I believe that you have a couple of alternatives to pursue here. You can sell the watch, possibly to one of the fellows on RWI that posted they would buy it, Live with the mistakes and move on, or send it of to one of the folks here on the forums who mod and repair watches. Possibly they can make it better. That of course is going to cost you some money. I would also recommend that in the future, you read the warranty information on the dealers website, or if you have questions, PM or Email the dealer and ask what their warranty, return policy is.

Lastly, and I know you are new to reps, but what you will learn, if you stay around is the basio premise of reps is They are Reps, they aren't genuine watches. They ALL have flaws. Some more than others. QC is almost non-existent. No matter what the dealers proclaim on their websites about being the "Perfect" Ultimate", 1:1 "copied from a genuine watch, they are all put together by folks who probably are on the job trained, don't really care about what it looks like, may be paid on a "piece " basis which rewards speed not quality. These are not Swiss watches assembled by trained watchmakers who won't let a watch leave their bench before it's perfect. Ain't so and Ain't going to happen. Remember this you are buying a 99.99% copy of a 7000.00 USD watch for 300.00 USD. i'm surprised for the most part that they are as good as they are. Before you buy, read the reviews of the watch you want, from the dealer you want to buy from, and make your decision on all the above parameters, not just the one who has the lowest price

    Just my Dos Centavos

    Arthur

    +1

I couldn't say it any better myself :good:
