  1. I'd vote for Rotties as the best
  2. Very easy answer to that question: Sentimental value. The Sub was the first expensive watch I'd ever purchased. The Omegas are part of my 'Bond Collection', and the 2531.80 was purchased with inheritance money from when my gran died (I also bought a custom tailored rep of the jacket Tom Cruise wore in Minority Report with the rest of the money) The PVD 111g was a birthday present from my wife, and, even though I hardly ever wear it, it has a certain charm, and I'm sure will be right for some unforseen occasion The 029a, I do occasionally wear. Mainly as a 'smart beater'. Something which will look nice, have reasonable quality lume, and reliability, but not be distraught if it took a beating. I wore it all week when I was on vacation in Glastonbury a while back, and it served me well for that time. It's not one I wear frequently, but I do enjoy wearing it when I do
  3. Someone's been reading On Her Majesty's Secret Service
  4. With a new, custom-made strap from Andy, this won't be coming off for a while
  5. Tasty Will it fit most Radiomir cases? How much would they cost?
  6. My 'hidden gems' are: -My EuroFake Submariner which hasn't been on my wrist longer than 3 minutes in over a year - My PVD 111g, which I haven't worn in nearly a year - My 029a. Does get occasional wear, but not very often. - My Omegas. Never see wrist time at all, now I've gone over to PAMs
  7. I think it depends on the watch and the person's own level of 'tollerance'. Personally, I've very tollerant of flaws. As long as dial printing is evenly applied, with correct spellings, I'm not too concerned about anything else. My 104 has many flaws of replication, but, I feel is a nice watch in it's own right. The same with my 187-fantasy watch, the One Eight Something. So many flaws, and flaws which could never be modded to correct, that it can only be considered a fantasy watch. But, one which I still really enjoy wearing. My 029a is the only watch I've worn where a hot girl has grabbed my wrist to actually check it out closer. Equally, it has flaws, but, I can't complain about the result
  8. Couldn't've said it any better than that. Reps only tend to be questioned if they are Rolex Or, as mentioned, if the person knows or suspects that it is a rep. Most of the time, people won't even notice if you're wearing a watch, let alone be able to identify it, and even then, an even smaller percentage who would even consider if it was a rep or not, let alone actually have the knowledge to identify it 'in the wild', rather than on the screen (with plenty of time for study ) In terms of quality, I think Lord Rasta summed it all up perfectly. Expect the worst, and, most likely, you will be pleasantly surprized. Sure, we all occasionally wind up receiving a lemon, but, they're normally fixable or exchangeable, so even that isn't really an issue Best of luck with your purchases
  9. It is a consideration for what I buy, but not a consideration for what I like TO me, the PO is a nicely designed watch. For example, I think the integral crown guards show an evolution of design from the CGs of the SMPs/Subs. What the heck, I'll treat my 45 to a little wrist time [Edit to add] I took it off again as the lume on my 104 is better
  10. Price isn't even a consideration to me. Rep or gen, I think the PO is a nice tool watch, and a nice design homage, regardless of what it cost
  11. Happy birthday, amigo, I hope it's been a good one
  12. You're absolutely right. I think the RG version is a mockery of the SS design. [Edit to add] Even with all this talk though, my PlanetOceanitis still hasn't flared up again, and the PO hasn't managed to prize the PAM from my wrist
  13. That's interesting. Out of curiousity, what is it that puts you off it?
  14. Yup More and more, that's how I'm seeing the You Ess of Ay these days...
  15. Absolutely, that's always been my thoughts about the PO's design lineage as well. A 're-imagining' of the original classic
  16. Personally, I've always loved it. I hardly (if ever) wear mine any more, but I do still really like it. I'd totally agree with the 'tool watch' description, but, I'd put this as a rebuttal... Is it so bad that it is a tool watch, rather than a 'dressier' watch, such as the 2220.80? Different strokes for different folks, different watches for different requirements
  17. America, Fuck Yeah! Sorry, I feel the need for that every so often
  18. With my 187-fantasy watch, (which had the compass bezel), rather than lose the markers randomly, I used a blade to prize them out, then the flat of a screwdriver to polish the indentations to a mirror shine. Not stock, not accurate, but, a solution I was happy with. Best of luck with a resolution
  19. It might be CONUS only, but I suspect that re-lumes might be a popular requirement
  20. Awesome result, he's well and truly fucked (and is likely going to be) so that'll teach him not to steal. Of course, Andy's suggestion of punishment is equally acceptable At the end of the day, I know what you mean. It's one thing to steal a candy bar or a shirt from Wal*Mart, quite another to steal the parcels you're being paid to look after. I'm sure punishment will be suitably meted out
  21. +1 (although only one of my collection has a Swiss movement... The Submariner I never wear because it keeps worse time than my Asians, and, being a sub, looke like a woman's watch compared to a PAM )
  22. In all fairness, an increase by that amount, might be to compensate for the weak dorrar at the moment. Not to defend the Cartel, of course, but, I know prices on things are going up at the moment. Of course, it could be an attempt to sneak in a small price increase, if it's tollerated, increase it a bit more... Thin end of the wedge, and all that... Of course, two sides to every story
  23. +1 Other reps from other dealers manage to arrive without off-set crowns, so what's DSN's has excuse? As Farquar mentioned, he is sending out defective goods, and getting away with a majority of them. If someone complains, fine, they get a replacement. If there's no complaint, then no harm no foul as the person's happy. But. That still means that, happy or not, they received a defective case.
  24. That's good to hear. Is he sending you one to correct the issue with your 228?
