Her personal life is pretty much a train-wreck, but I think she has a great voice (reminds me of Nina Simone) which would work really well with David Arnold's music.
  3. Not necessarily. If a company were to precicely recreate something, it would be 1:1, but not 'genuine', as it was not made by the original parent company Well, we can all live in hope I don't really care about 1:1 watches for my own wear, I was just commenting on what 1:1, means to me as a term Absolutely. I read on TZ once, where someone was complaining about the hands on their real genuine Rolex not perfectly lining up with the minute markers every time Needless to say, they were rather laughed at and ridiculed for their unreasonably high standard. The comment I most remember, and which made me chuckle the most, was "Stop acting like this is the first expensive thing you've bought, and just enjoy it" Absolutely. So if it's being CNC'd, then there's no reason for there to be variations in measurements or specifications This is very true.
  4. Hmm, it's not a PAM ( ) but it still looks pretty hardcore
  5. That's what I was going to say. 1:1 means just that 1:1 Identical in every manner. Not just 'looking' about right, but actually being precicely correct. I would say, that, display back or not, the movement of a true 1:1 rep should be equally identical, regardless or not if it is actually being seen. That said, I'm not bothered about 1:1 levels of replication. To me, 'looks good enough' is good enough. However, I would agree with the points above that if something is advertized as 1:1, then it should actually be 1:1, as a point of accuracy in advertizing.
  6. Where is the second sweep at 9?
  7. I don't think there's any moisture in the case, (as in flooding) as the watch hadn't been exposed to moisture (or even steamy conditions) but, there would be some moisture in the atmosphere inside the case, so maybe that was it. Most strange indeed. Thanks for the suggestions
  8. It can't be a PVD 127. The photo Rolli uploaded clearly shows no second sweep at 9, also, the printing on the lower half of the dial is too wide to only read "1950". Interesting pics of the PVD 127, but that's sure not what Sly's wearing...
  9. The watch-ebay link works for me

Anyone remember Revenge of the Jedi?
  11. It was my 127, and indeed, it went away after a few minutes covered by my sleeve, leaving no marks on the inside of the crystal at all (and dried condensation normally takes much longer, and leaves 'rings'/stains on the inside. It was really wierd. I'm guessing it was definitely tempereture related, but it vanished so soon, and as mentioned, didn't look like normal moisture in the case, which was what made me wonder if it was some kind of condensing of the atmosphere present in the case
  12. So I was walking for the bus earlier, and it was really cold out. I looked at my watch to check I was on schedule, and saw a wierd cloud-like distortion on the inside of the crystal. At first, I thought it might be something staining the outside, then I thought it might have been some kind of pressure crack (like you get when you fold clear plastic, and it 'whites out') I pulled the cuff of my fleece over the watch and carried on walking for the bus. When I got to the bus stop, I checked the time again to make sure I hadn't missed the bus (according to the schedule) and the distortion was gone. I'm guessing this was temperature related, and probably some kind of condensing of the air inside the case, I've just never seen anything like it on a watch before, and wondered if anyone else had any experiences of it happening. The thing that was most strange, was that it looked nothing like the clouding of getting moisture in the case, but more a cloudy/milky distortion (like folded plastic)
  13. The Planet Ocean is double sided, the 2254.50.00 is only single-sided. I don't believe the original 2531.80 even had single sided AR...
  14. I don't have any problem with carrying ID or an ID Card, afterall, I already (voluntarily) wear a Canadian Dog-tag with biographical and contact information, although of course, there is a difference between choosing to do something, and having a government insist upon it... However, I do object to the government scheme, for several reasons: - If it is a requirement that everyone have a card, then periodic issues should be free (like an NI Card) with charges only being made for replacements in the event of loss or damage. - Owning an ID card should not be a criteria for passport application. - The different types of information should not be centrally stored. The government has only just recently proved it incapable of dealing with such information in a secure manner, so putting all relevent information together in one storage facility, is just asking for trouble.

Most of them. My favorites are From Russia with Love, and the Living Daylights. The Mentalist beat me to the artist's impression of Fleming's mental image for Bond, and, personally, I think that looks somewhat like a young Rupert Everett. Bond is clearly physically described in From Russia with Love, in his KGB portfolio. That description has nothing about blonde hair I'd read about Clive Owen rejecting the role, on a Bond discussion forum, so considered it a credible source of info. As would Michael Samuelle. He'd either use Nikita as a lure to get Bond into bed, and then just shoot him whilst he was 'on the job', or, as shown in an episode of LFN, he'd likely not even go to that effort, and simply walk into the bar and shoot Bond in the back of the head whilst he ordered his vodka martini. In terms of 'blunt instroments', they don't come much blunter than Michael
  16. I'd agree with By-Tor, that at the end of the day, it's down to personal preference, and what makes you as an individual happy, but I'll happily share my personal feelings on the issue. Personally, I would not mod a watch just to get it to 'look gen'. I don't buy them to pass of as genuine when I wear them, I buy them as reasonably priced alternatives to artificially inflated brandnames. For that reduced price, I am prepared to accept less than 1:1 replication, and not too concerned about the individual minutiae, prefering to focus on the 'overall appearance' (although I would not tolerate incorrect spellings or wonky printing. But, that is because those are due to poor manufacturing/research, not because it makes the watch look 'less authentic) Bearing that in mind, I would quite happily modify a watch if it improved the functionality for me. For example, I've put a second keeper on my 26mm PAM dive strap, as I didn't like the 'tail' being 'loose'. I have plans to send the watch for re-luming, so it will be more visible to me at night and in dark conditions, but, that's because I spend much time 'in dark conditions', so ease of visibility is a key requirement, and the cannon pinnion fix is included in the price of that work. That said, I would not have specifically asked someone to replace the cannon pinnion, as I'm not too concerned about it being level with the hands or not, it certainly won't affect the functionality of the watch... I'm not sure if the color of the dial printing is bang on to the gen 127, but, I don't really care. I like it, and that's all I'm concerned about. I'm certainly not going to worry about swapping a dial just because of a shade or two difference in ink color... In terms of one watch vs the rest of the collection, I'd just ask is it a watch you wear regularly? If it's your beater, and it could be functionally improved (ie with a re-lume) then why not treat yourself to it. If it's a watch which only ever sees wrist time when you wear your lucky shoes, then does that short amount of time wearing the watch really justify the cost of the mods? So that's my opinion. Do it for you, not anyone else. Do it to improve functionality, but purely cosmetic mods I'd consider as secondary or even unnecessary, and overall, is it a watch which you would wear enough to actually benefit from the mod.
  17. Well, it's okay untill I wear shoes, and the arch in the sole presses into that part of my foot. That's where the wound is. The primary injury is about an inch long, by 5mm, and a good 3mm deep (ripped the skin right down to the flesh beneath.) then there's the bruising, which is about 2-3 inch diameter. That's what's causing the worst trouble. Once the bruising goes down, the shoes won't be a problem, and wealking will be less painfull. (at the moment, I'm walking with my toes scrunched up so as not to put my foot flat in a shoe (although barefoot is not a problem, as there's no direct pressure on the injury barefoot)) I can still do that It's access to the camera which is proving problematic Indeed. Almost makes me want to put my Sub on, but then I see how small it is, remember how poorly it keeps time, and I put my 127 back on Customized straps FTW [Edit for spelling: I wear shoes, not shows ]
  18. The strap looks great on the watch
  19. I just copied and pasted the info, I take no responsibility for it's accuracy, that lies with the named source Indeed, a real tragedy. Absolutely so. Maybe he'll pick up an award posthumously.
  20. Sorry for no fresh wrist shots, I haven't been able to find the digital camera, and my phone's camera isn't really up to the task for showcasing a new watch. Since monday, I've been weari-I mean testing, the Radiomir I ordered for my friend's birthday in February. After Victoria was kind enough to demonstrate the Radiomir 210 on the 26mm dive strap, I knew that, although it might not appeal to most, it would be perfect for my friend's wardrobe. I've got on okay wearing it, but have missed my 127. I'm satisfied with the watch's performance, so maybe another day of 'off-wrist' monitoring, and I'll then put it asside for my friend. Following a rather stupid accident (stepping on an upturned electrical plug barefoot) I'm not going to be wearing 'smart shoes' for the forseable future, so am forced into wearing my Vans and 127 on dive strap combo I showcased last week. I'll just update that to say, that the strap has now been customized, and has two keepers instead of the one (the 'tail' was bugging me, so I ordered a spare strap to take the keeper. The brushed buckle from the strap, has been fitted to the honey-tan tapered strap the Radiomir came on [feels very thin compared to other 127 straps but looks nice]) I'll get some fresh shots once I track down the camera
  21. Should the dealer replace it if the package gets confiscated by customs?? If it doesn't work, must I pay to send it back to China??
