  1. Push pins instead of screws  Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face  Screwpins make bracelets so much easier to work on (assuming they don't strip, of course) with Omega, I understand that fans have long been campaigning to have the push pins replaced with screws, and that's one of the 'tells'. Absolutely hillairious that a company catoring to such an anal market would make such a blunder. I can just imagine the scene.

Guy on street "Dude, your PAM's got screws in the bracelet, it's gotta be a fake!"

Risti wearing older gen "..." :angry2::angry2::blowup:

    :lol::lol::lol:

PS Good to see pics of 'Three Barrels' the Porno s1ut again :D

  2. I believe Silix is a drop-shipper. I know people have posted that delays were explained by "Watch did not meet QC". However, given that both X-33 watches I received would have failed any level of QC, as well as having orders missing requested product, I have my doubts as to wether or not this is actually done, or just a happily accepted excuse.

  3. TeeJay, I don't think I specified which Bond they got back to good basic watches with, or which time... Dalton was a real Bond. All the nonsense about being too young and then too busy 4 times before he finally took the job was just a cover story to avoid those damn gadget watches... Later, Brosnan had more gadgets coming out of his Omegas than ever before...

Umm... Roger Moore had one no name that sprayed cyanide coated pellets, depleted uranium armor piercing rounds, etc, in Octopussy... AND his ticker tape Seiko Memory Bank watch was used to blow the rocket pad exhaust grate to save his ass in Moonraker... (reverse order) .... BEFORE the exploding key chain...

And Victoria, darling, I don't think Ms. Weaver is 182 meters tall... CM, maybe...

Sorry, I try not to think about the movies with Sir Roger in. They're too far from Fleming's novels for me to enjoy them. Indeed, Dalton was a fantastic Bond. Untill Brosnan, he was my favorite, but, I felt Brosnan played the character closer to how Fleming wrote him. I thought Daniel Craig played the character well in Casino Royale, but visually, he just didn't fit Fleming's description of Bond. From that aspect, I would have had Clive Owen in the role, although apparently, he declined...

  4. Heh. Thanks for all the replica snobbery, but it's not what I'm after. The unfortunate fact is that the forum's dealers don't have any proper versions of the red SMP line to offer. So anyone interested in these models has to look elsewhere. Maybe it's time they got together to make them available? The gen red SMP has been around since late '06 but quality reps of it have yet to surface.

I guess at the end of the day it depends what you want and how accurate you want it. I've had a rep 2220.80 for a while and really like it. It does have it's faults though. The logo and brand are printed on (as per the 2531.80) rather than the metal attachments. But. I prefer that detail. I don't like how the attachments look on the gen dial. Ironically, I think the metal attachments, with the letters all joined through the center, makes the real thing 'look fake'. As for the flaw with the 3 marker, mine doesn't even have a 3 marker... A lot of 2531.80s have been emerging sans 3 marker, so this could be a case of rather than simply manufacturing a proper 3 marker for the dials, the factories took the quicker route by luming one directly to the dial as on the 2531.80.

Is it accurate to the gen? No. Does that really matter? Depends who you ask, and how desperate they are to tell people that their watch is genuine. That's not why I buy reps, so I'm not really bothered by inaccuracies in trivial details like that. As long as the print doesn't read Qmega Seameister, I'm happy. As for sources, there are sources other than the forum dealers. CQout is a monitored site, like eBay, so dealers are bound to behave honestly, and those who don't, get removed from the site. Sure, the dealers there might not have access to the "Super Reps", but what they do have, if you're prepared to look for the good deals, is respectable quality, and much cheaper than the forum dealers. Best of luck with your search and purchase :)

  5. Won't be on on my letter to Santa Claus .......but if I get one I'd be very very very happy.

I'm sure with the ever increasing popularity of Panerai there is growing demand for exquisite premium pieces ........there's enough mult -millionaires out there who'll lap up this fusion of "haute horoligie", timeless Italian style and "action man" heritage.....

Still prefer the 233....not convinced that the extra dial isn't over complicating a design that hinges around it's simplicity........I mean AM/PM ....I might not know what day it is sometimes but I always know if it's day or night !!!!! :-)

    My 2p

    FGD

I've read that AM/PM indicators (such as the Explorer II) were brought about not so much to track timezone changes, as with a pure GMT watch, but so cavers would know whether it was day or night while underground :)

  6. You guys rock! Thanks, you've answered my question.

No problem, glad to be of help. When it comes to force-fitting the second spring bar, you might need to use something like a pair of needlenose pliars to get the necessary force and pressure to get the second end of the bar into place, as the strap will be rather 'resistant' to the idea  Only takes a moment to do though, and then it's perfect, no lifting clasp to catch on your clothes or other things :)

  7. The tourbillon caliber is very interesting IMHO.

It is not a flat tourbillon, but placed with a 45' tilt (since this is not a pocket watch that sits vertically in a vest pocket). Plus it is goes around in 30 sec, rather than the typical 60 sec.

Look at it spin in the video found in this page. (hxxp://www.paneristi.com/archives/sihh2007_guy/tourbillon.html)

Additionally it has 6 days reserve. They moved the PR indicator to the back, which is better than that obtrusive linear indicator they previously used on the dial.

    These were the good news.

The bad: It has a blue dot on the dial. Does it perform a function? No way. If the tourbillon is not spinning, then the whole watch is not working. So, it is a price tag :)

The bad: It has a tiny GMT AND a 24hour display (3o clock). I mean, GMT and no 24 hour division? How can you read that? Then add the 24hour displayOh, and they got the CG upside down. :p

To answer the original question, I see no way that the functions of this watch will be rep'd. Concidering the form, I guess we could see something rolling out of the factories, but there will be too many flaws even dial side.

I didn't even notice the GMT hand :o To be honest, without indices to measure it by, how is one supposed to easily use it... Something I think would be an improvement on the watch, is if the hands were all black rather than gold...

  8. That's always been my take on Tourbillon watches. What's the bloody point if you can't see it?

Absolutely. I have to admit, my take on Tourbillon watches full stop is what's the point. On a pocket watch, they're usefull, but on a wrist watch, they're complications for complication's sake...

And CERTAINLY not for that price. I'm thinking reps, as well. If this is even reppable (verb?), it would probably be in the U$500s.

Definitely in that kind of price range. Definitely a 'collectors only' piece, rather than one with 'mass appeal'... Hmmm... mass appeal... m appeal... Emma Peel :D

    emma4.jpg

    Thats better ^_^

  9. Oh dear...

Hmmm... Toubillon movement that's not actually visible on the dial = What's the point?

'Three Barrels' sounds like something a porno [censored] takes...

Looks like a nice enough watch, but not really anything special. Certainly not anything to get excited over...

  10. I'm too lazy to work it out for myself... :p

    Looks good :1a:

  12. Yeah you waited too long and kept teasing me. :D The deal from Jomashop was too good to pass up. Gotta have at least one good gen in the collection. It's an early x-mas to myself. The wife and kids will handle the ties and socks.

Well, a good deal's always a good deal. To be honest, I'd've been happy to've sold my E-B, but until the PAM arrived, I had to be sure I had watches I could give to my friends as promised. The only gen in my collection is a Ben Sherman quartz on a black cuff strap which my mother in law got me for christmas the year before last. And a couple of Casios  NOthing wrong with treating yourself once in a while either

  13. This one's not for me, but one I bought for my best friend's birthday. I was worried that it wouldn't arrive before we went on our mini-vacation monday, but it arrived today, so I'm going to give it a 24hr field test to check the regulation :) I definitely prefer how PAMs look on brown straps, but hopefully my friend will still like it :)

  14. Left out an option for "Changes watches more often than...", so I was left with daily.

    Fossil? Ick.

No watch, eh. Just don't ask me for the time more than once a day.

Bond? The "Real" Bond prefers Rolex. How can someone mention Thunderball without wishing for that Breitling Top Time "Geiger Counter"? Live and Let Die without the Diamond Cutting-wheeled Super Magnetic Submariner (uber Anti-Milguass?) that replaced his Hamilton Pulsar? Don't get me started on the satellite linked, ticker tape spewing, blast cord backed Seikos...... The only thing dumber than those were the generic dart gun watch and the Omegas that followed. And Fossils.

REBOOTING THE TIMELINE??? Allowing that with Sum of All Fears is why I quit reading Tom Clancy.

Of course, it doesn't matter that much with Bond. He's just a bit of good fun. At least they got back to a good basic watch that doesn't blow up or spew nerve gas.

Dava? She'll have to get in line, behind VB.

    That was a key-fob, not a watch ;) And, Dalton's Bond wore a non Gadget Submariner ;)
