  1. I'm too lazy to work it out for myself... 42mm Planet Ocean Black 42mm Planet Ocean Orange 45mm Planet Ocean Black 2531.80 x 2 2220.80 Electric Blue SMP Daytona Speedmaster X-33 (no longer available on civilian market) Submariner GMT Master II (with vintage sub dial) Vintage Submariner (minus dial ) Panerai 111h (evaluated for repairs) Panerai 127 (en route...) If anyone would care to tot that up for me, it would be most appreciated, I haven't got enough fingers and toes to count that high
  2. Well, a good deal's always a good deal. To be honest, I'd've been happy to've sold my E-B, but until the PAM arrived, I had to be sure I had watches I could give to my friends as promised. The only gen in my collection is a Ben Sherman quartz on a black cuff strap which my mother in law got me for christmas the year before last. And a couple of Casios NOthing wrong with treating yourself once in a while either
  3. Looks like I won't be getting rid of the E-B SMP afterall now... I hope you'll be pleased with your gen one
  4. This one's not for me, but one I bought for my best friend's birthday. I was worried that it wouldn't arrive before we went on our mini-vacation monday, but it arrived today, so I'm going to give it a 24hr field test to check the regulation I definitely prefer how PAMs look on brown straps, but hopefully my friend will still like it
  5. Indeed, and I have to admit, I'm tempted to add one to the Christmas list
  6. That was a key-fob, not a watch And, Dalton's Bond wore a non Gadget Submariner
  7. As previously mentioned, you just use the micro-adjust holes on the clasp as you would on a Submariner clasp. Something worth noting, is when adjusting the strap, this can make the back of the clasp 'stand up' from the strap (which if the strap is on the last hole, it can't do) this can lead to the back of the clasp standing up and catching on clothes etc. To counter this, force-fitting a second springbar in the end holes will hold the back of the clasp flat to the strap, as I did here:
  8. I know what you mean, the V3 does all I need it to do. I had one of the v5s years ago, and that was a good little phone. By today's standards, it missed a load of features which are now standard, like camera, bluetooth etc, but in it's day, it was good. I think the V3 will still be able to hold it's own for a while, but, the new Razr does look pretty good... If you still had it, and I had the spare
  9. An awesome phone I've had my Motorola Razr V3 since they first came out, and think it's the best phone I've had. There are some nice new phones available, and I quite like the look of the Vertu, but, I know the exposed screen would get scuffed up, where clam-shell phones save that problem. Wouldn't mind a new Razr though, they look very slick
  10. Personally, I liked George Lazenby. I never liked Sir Roger Moore in the role. To be honest, as much as I would be happy to watch a Bond film, I always prefered the novels to the movies, and, as much as the gadgets and girls were fun, they were at times so untrue to Fleming's novels, that they barely deserved the same titles. I absolutley loved how the Living Daylights was just a short story (the opening part up to Bond taking the shot), and from the movie, I liked how they managed to then cobble up a film to follow it. I'm not a fan of the idea of 'reboots' of series, but, given my feelings about Bond novels/movies, I'm hoping that they'll take the oportunity to re-shoot the movies in a way which is more true to the spirit of what Fleming wrote. Of course, if Solomon makes an appearance, (even if as a cameo) I'll be happy
  11. Fifty Dollars. US Greenbacks The globally accepted currency Are you also self-employed? What manner of business do you work in? I'm an art consultant/conceptual artist.
  12. Yes, I am. I openly admit it. I don't like paying more for an item than it is actually worth. Not that that has anything to do with the fact that I don't care if something costs 1 penny or a billion dollars, if someone is selling it, they should sell it accurately and honestly for what it is. That is the beef I have with sellers like those mentioned above. My beef with sellers like this is not how it affects me, but how it can affect the other members of the community. Is that wrong? Oh, and before the issue of subscriptions/donations is raised again, I have already vowed to contribute $50 a month, every month to the forum's upkeep, so how's that for being cheap? The only reason I did not do so last friday, is because one of my clients thought it would be fun to give me a cheque which they did not have the funds to cover. I don't have a 9-5 salary job, I am self-employed, so when someone does something like that, it prevents me from making good on my promises, and that is something I find intensely irritating. So. How does $50 a month sound to you with your 'donation drives'? Good enough? Peace be with you.
  13. And as I just said to Stephane, that's fine, but does nothing to change the fact that Faisal lists his inserts as 'indistinguishable' from the real thing, and as good quality as they are, they are still distinguishable. Either something is, or it is not. These inserts are a 'grey area' in that they are pretty good and better than what the reps come with. And that's fine. But. My issue is with Faisal's sales blurb, in that it is simply not correct, and, as mentioned above, he is selling legitimate parts on a legitimate site. He has an obligation to his clients to accurately represent his products. If people want to buy from him, then that's their choice. I just want to see things described accurately, and sold accordingly, so that other people in the community aren't taken in by such misleading sales blurbs
  14. Stephane, I do not mean to be rude, but us 'being friends' has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the comments I have made on here. Ruining the atmosphere of YOUR hobby??!! You arrogant person. This board dopes not exist solely for YOUR pleasure and benefit. Your previous comments trying to get people to subscribe were ruining the atmosphere, not just of my hobby, but of other people who were also offended by your behaviour. You have no moral high ground to take when it comes to 'ruining the atmosphere'. Given the treatment you have directed towards myself and others who have not made subscriptions, quite frankly, I do not care for you or your opinion, however, that did not stop me from attempting to advise you on how to deal with Faisal the Liar. Any ill feeling between us is purely the result of your behaviour towards non-subscribing members. However. This specific seller, and sellers like him, is something which affects all the members of the COMMUNITY who might buy from him/them in future. Also, for your information, I have not 'just' added Faisal to my 'hit list' of dubious dealers, he was already on it long before I found this forum, and I have warned others not to buy from him on numerous occasions for precicely the reasons given above. Now. If you personally are happy to accept 'little white lies' and buy from such people, then go ahead, it's your money. But. Do not for one second think that other people should also have to put up with that standard of service. The fact of the matter, is Faisal Ali is a LIAR. His sales blurb is inaccurate and misleading. As someone else mentioned, he is not selling illegal products, he is selling legal aftermarket parts on a legal auction site, and as such, is required to ACCURATELY describe the goods he sells. He does not do that, and that makes him a liar. As I said, if you're happy with the quality of the inserts, then that's great. For you. However, not everyone who orders from him is going to settle for what he so laughingly sells as 'indistinguishable from the real thing', and, as has been pointed out on other threads of this nature, this is not about how someone personally feels about the service they personally received, but about how the seller presents their goods, the way they conduct themselves, and that they do both in an honest manner, as that affects the entire community. Frankly, I don't care what you paid for the goods or how much the watch you're wearing cost, it has nothing to do with the quality of the inserts Faisal sells, and as you said, talking about money is boring. This person has misleading sales pitches, and people should be aware of that fact before they decide if they choose to do business with him or not.
  15. Couldn't've said it better myself People, let's not forget, that at the end of the day, a rep is a rep, and will never be gen (unless every single component was swapped, and then it would be a different watch... Also, the genuine Omega is not, never has, and never will, be/been called a UPO. It is the Planet Ocean Big Size. 2900.50.91 That is what you want to ask for parts for. Ask for parts for a "You Pee Oh" at an AD, and they're either going to give some strange looks, laugh, or, as Doc said with Ofrei, probably get you yelled at It's like not so long ago a collector got rather annoyed by someone calling their watch a "Noobmariner", as the watch was just an entry level Rolex, and the Noobmariner is only sold by this one dealer, and their comments could have given a negative impression of their product, which was not the actual subject of the person's topic anyway... This is the same with the UPO. It is just a term attached to a specific factory release by certain collectors. In terms of asking for the 'real thing' (or parts for it) Planet Ocean Big Size. 2900.50.91 is what you want to be asking for
  16. I decided to wear my 2220.80 SMP today, afterall, it's a watch I bought myself for myself, most of the others are ones either bought for me, or with money I received, (I didn't want to wear my X-33 or GMT Sub) so I felt it was time the 2220.80 had a little wrist time
  17. So once again, he has delivered inserts which are distinguishable from the real thing, which his sales claims not to be possible. Why close the disputes? You received something, but not something as it was advertized...
  18. If anyone needs a PAM, she does Noo, what matters, is what is factually correct... This isn't like religion, where it is up to the person to decide what to believe, it's a case of one thing being correct, the other being wrong... It was Brocolli's watch, not Flemings. Bonding With Time Ravens35 Comment Don't forget Diana Rigg's character though Okay, so she didn't last beyond the end of the novel/movie, but had a way longer impact on Bond than Ms Gallore There was also Domino in Thunderball who also wore "a man's watch" Not such a heavy-weight character, but still worth mention
  19. If the Planet Ocean isn't a problem, then I doubt the 127 would be too much of a stretch, although, it must be noted that Panerai watches wear much larger than the Planet Ocean. A lot of that, I attribute to the strap. On a Planet Ocean, the strap totally fills the lugs, drawing the eye up to the bezel. On a PAM, the strap terminates at the bottom 3rd of the lugs, with the rest of the case coming up at 90 degrees from that. The actual size and height might be the same, but one is much more jarring on the eye than the other, which is more flowing. Of course, the 127 is larger than the standard PAMs, as well as the domed crystal, so that's another factor, but overall, I'd still say if the Planet Ocean's not a problem, and as you noted, if Orlando Bloom can wear one, I'm sure you'll be fine. Best of luck with your purchases
  20. Jeez, what've people got against KFED? It's not like he's a murderer or a child molester... So he's a bit of a scummy guy with how he treats his women. There are plenty more like that, and a hell of a lot worse in the world. At least he actually pays child support, unlike some people I know, and at the end of the day, a judge saw fit to give him custody of his sons, where his trailor-trash ex can't even be bothered to keep a scheduled visit? Oh yeah, he's really the bad guy in all this...
  21. I love Communism! Communism is Awesome!!! It just doesn't work Okay, so the 127 didn't make it for my birthday (wasn't really expecting it too, but oh well, it'll be here by the time I get back from my mini-vacation monday) So, as I've had on for the last few days, and will continue to wear until the 127 has to take up permanant residence on my wrist, I've been wearing my old favorite
  22. Although, I think that the 'icing on the cake' of that particular scene, is the "Good evening, Mister Bond..." at the end Actually, it was Brocolli's Rolex, not Fleming's. And, I'm not sure about a snotty clerk, but I'd heard that Rolex (as a company) would not loan them one to use for filming, which was why Brocolli took his own off for Sir Sean to wear How about Sigourney Weaver?
