  1. Hello,

I have the "latest" 45.5 MM PO from silix, and it does indeed have AR coating on the inside, not the outside of the crystal... The watch has been running 35 to 40 seconds per week, for the three weeks I have owned it... I had to buy a pin remover to resize the band...those pins/tubes are very tight... I just love the watch, and am thinking of getting the orange one... the price, with shipping was under 180 USD...

Hello, and welcome to the forum :) Sounds like you got yourself a good watch there. Have you thought about getting a rubber strap for yours? When I first got a Planet Ocean, (42mm version) I had it on the SS Bracelet, and thought it was fine. Once I put it on the rubber strap, however, I found it was so comfortable, I hardly realized I had the watch on, and, after that, couldn't stand to wear the Planet Ocean on an SS Bracelet (although I don't mind wearing the 2531.80/2220.80 SMPs on SS Bracelets)

Thanks guys for your help, I still did not make up my mind but for sure I will order before the weekend. I will probably go to an omega AD and try them both, to see how they look in reality and not to rely only on pics. Regarding the Silix PO, no doubt that they are cheeper compared to the others.

I'd definitley recommend going to an AD to compare them. The Orange bezel insert looks much nicer 'for real' than a photo can capture. There's a somewhat muted quality to the color, it is not garish at all. I was given my orange 42mm as a gift, and, although I don't wear it, and to be honest, would never have thought to order (from only seeing the pictures) once I got it, it really grew on me, and it is a very nice watch. Personally, I prefer the black bezel insert/white numbers combination, but some of that is because that was the first Planet Ocean variant I saw (via Casino Royale), so in my mind, that's how the watch should look. Had I saw the pumpkin numbered variant first, then my opinion would likely be reversed. In terms of size, I would definitely recommend the 45mm over the 42mm. They can seem huge, but, when worn on the wrist, really are not so bad. Best of luck with your purchase :)

  2. Hi, Im getting a 5th gen po 42.5mm from paul, black bezel.

There is a couple of things I cant stand with the rep i.e. PEARL.

so I want to get one of the gen bezels from Ofrei:

    http://www.ofrei.com/page663.html

    But which one is mine???

I will get the hands too, not expensive:

    http://www.ofrei.com/page1122.html

    And last: a rubber strap

I could get the seamaster strap from Josh for 35$ OR the gen one at ofrei for 169$

I know If I get the one from josh I'll have to modify it to get a perfect fit, but the $ difference is huge.

Is the rubber strap from josh accurate?

    http://www.perfectclones88.com/omru10002-r...ack-p-2302.html

The Seamaster strap Joshua sells is accurate as a Seamaster strap, it is not, however, accurate to what should be on a Planet Ocean. If you have a look on Ofrei, the differences are pretty noticeable. Even the crappiest watch can look nice when put on a nice strap, so my advice would be to spend the extra $$$s and get the genuine Planet Ocean strap (20mm) If you're modifying the watch so it appears genuine, someone would notice the incorrect strap way before they notice a pearl or the hands... Best of luck with the project :)

  3. Since joining this forum in March I have purchased about 50 reps from Andrew and Joshua. That may be as much as anyone on this forum. Why? Their level of service and dedication is second to none. No other vendor replies to me at 3am in the morning, their time!! They replace broken parts, replace defective watches, and have a website that is stellar. Communication is most often instantaneous. My last shipment has been lost to Canadian Customs for a few weeks and Joshua is sending me a replacement order. This shows an extreme amount of integrity on his part. Although you may think that their prices are high, on the contrary, I think they are great. I negotiate some pretty good deals with them and they are always willing to try to earn my business. Why would I switch if I am very happy with the service they have provided me? I can afford real gens, and own some but buying reps stretches my dollar. I trust Joshua and Andrew implicitly. They have never ever steered me wrong and I am glad to have them as my prefered vendors. Anyone can sell and send out a watch. It is the after sales service that matters.

That's cool, but, as Richard Tracy pointed out, this is an issue where people need to look beyond their own good deals, and see the overall picture. So lots of people are happy with A&J, that's cool, but, that doesn't mean that the examples of people who have been screwed over didn't occur...

    PS, Impeccable doesn't have a K in it ;)

  4. Interesting that both slay and TeeJay have changed their signatures now ;)

We were PMd by Admin as there had been complaints about the size of the signatures

    I shrunk it down a bit B)

Very odd... TeeJay's signature just reverted back to that same one. :g:

Which one would that be? I haven't done anything to alter my signature, so if it's suddenly changed from the shortened version of Slay's original message, that would mean someone is changing my settings... <_<

  5. Man reading this thread would make one think some people forget they are selling "rep" watches. While I won't agree or disagree since I'm new to "this" forum, this is the rep aka fake watch world. How shocking it is that there maybe business practices that are maybe less then ethical going on. Swiss trained techs, waterproof, etc, hummm while these maybe what some would call the unethical part, isn't calling a $200 watch made in CN a Rolex unethical. If you don't care to buy something don't offer over any money to them. Give the dealer you like your money.

This has nothing to do with 'forgetting' that they are rep watches whatsoever. Calling a CN made $200 watch a Rolex is not unethical, as long as it is not being advertized and sold as being genuine. If anyone seriously thinks that they are getting a genuine watch at a knock-down price, then they are either seriously misinformed, plain lying to themselves, or both. People know they are buying replicas, but they expect to receive what they actually pay for.

The issue here, as illustrated by posts like Predfan's, is that people are paying for a product and getting something different to what they ordered, or, paying for a service (ie waterproofing) and it simply not being done. It doesn't matter what the product is being sold, and if it is genuine, replica or whatever, what matters, is that people are offering X, sending Y, and anyone who complains about that, is being 'swept under the carpet', and criticized by the dealer's shills. Given that this forum exists to protect BUYERS, not DEALERS, that is why people are finding it an unacceptable situation.

  6. Good luck and enjoy. I order the UPO 45 with black dial and bezel and orange numbers, but I am not sure maybe the white numbers looks better. Can anyone advise me?

With regards pumpkin or white numbers, that's not really something you can be advised on, it's simply a matter of personal taste. I would say that the white numbers are definitely more popular, (and as featured in Casino Royale) but that doesn't necessarily make them better. At the end of the day, it's just a case of which you feel looks nicer :) Something which the pumpkin numbers does have, is if it's put with a strap with pumpkin stitching, it looks awesome. White numerals with white stitching doesn't have the same impact.

That said, I have the Planet Ocean with white numbers and wear it on the rubber strap, as in Casino Royale.

  7. I really wish people would stop using the term UPO when they talk about the Planet Ocean 45mm. <_< The Ultimate Planet Ocean is just one (of many) versions of the 45mm available, and only sold by select dealers. If you've just watched Casino Royale and think you want Bond's watch, you don't want a 'UPO', you want a 45mm Planet Ocean!

    *rant over*

  8. If you've been given their name by someone you trust, then go for it. For all the comments about the 'aftersales service of the favored dealers', there are some unignorable instances where those 'favored dealers' have not really met expectations with either their product or service, and, dealers who are considered as 'unknowns' here, can still provide excellent products and services. Personally, I say go for it. If the watch is a lemon, we know another dealer to avoid. If it comes up good, then we have a new (and cheaper source) so information well worth it.

Don't let 'anonymous' recommendations for other dealers put you off the source you were given by a relative. Best of luck with the purchase :)

  9. YAY!! Thanks, TeeJay.

Another Big Thanks to you for motivating me to buy this lovely, "flirty" watch as my mum calls it (second mum reference of the day! But then she's the only person around me who shares my passion...).

I saw that Narikaa had Emily's smaller HBB Aspen equivalent, and it did seem that the subdials did as you say above. Please note that my big 45mm version also has the datewheel, which the smaller version Emily has doesn't. That was another consideration.

But yeah, my subdials are completely faux. Neither 3 nor 9 are up to much, and the 6 is redundant as it's the seconds. ;)

You're welcome :D It's funny, that although yours is a more 'visually accurate' watch, Emily's actually has more 'functionality' to it... As for the datewheel, indeed, hers doesn't have it, but, personally, I think that is actually an improvement on the design, as aesthetically, I feel the datewheels look like a 'design afterthought', and look 'jammed in at the last minute'. I don't know why I have that feeling, but that's how it strikes me :D

I remember him. The chap who never paid a farthing's worth of child support, but has a watch stall or similar? Yuck. Sorry for that, TeeJay.

That's the one. He is, to use a phrase used by the lovely Hayden Panettiere in Heroes, purely a 'bio parent', and has no right at all to call himself her 'father'. He's also a compulsive liar. One time, he said that he had quite a collection of Rolexes which had been left to him by some customer (why would a customer leave a collection worth tens of thousands of pounds to a market trader who swaps batteries and straps? I've also never seen this fabled collection) and yesterday, when I said about modifying the Aqua Terra for my dad, he made some comment about having built a watch once, but would never want to do it again. (Personally, I find that a somewhat addictive passtime) but at the end of the day, why would someone with (supposedly  ) a collection of Rolexes, and who can build a watch from scratch, only ever wear a

  10. So--does that mean that the 21J from Andrew and the "swiss ETA" from Josh have the same face, body etc., or should I spend more to hope to get a better overall look???

I think you are telling me I should feel fine about the 21J--is that right?

    Thanks.

Well, both Andrew and Joshua have the same suppliers, so they have the same stock. I recently bought a Vacheron Constantine Overseas on a sales site which was identical to the watch Joshua was selling, except his had an ETA movement, the one I bought had an Asian movement. The watches themself, were exactly the same, they just had different movements in them, and the one I bought was half the price of the one Joshua was selling. All I was really trying to say was it won't matter which of them you buy from, as you will wind up with the same product, the only difference possibly being the price, or, if they have had a 'new batch' of stock in. That's something else you should be aware of. Andrew and Josh have a habit of using pictures of old stock for their advertising, even if the new stock coming through has minor differences, so don't be surprized if what you get, is not 100% like what you ordered. Personally, I wouldn't buy anything from either Andrew or Joshua, but if you want to, that's your choice. Best of luck :)

  11. Another q

does the movement stop at a particular point every time or area on the dial? i dont mean catching just stopping particualy around 9

I think I've solved the problem. The 'back' of the second hand had gotten slightly bent down, and had been catching against the minute hand. I stripped the watch, tweaked the hand, and it seems to have done the trick :)

  12. Are you using the correct crown stem, ie were the stems the same for both watches, have you got the GMT one in the GMT works and the sub one in the sub works?

Yes, I was careful not to mix the parts like that :) The stem for the sub actually broke off going back in, so has totally fouled that movement, but for

  13. Cant wait .. sounds interesting. I am really tempted to give this modding lark a try.

It's something I've had in mind for several months, but always had 'more important' watches to buy before getting into it. The result isn't entirely as planned, as I wanted a contemporary Submariner dial in the GMT case, but wound up having to use the vintage Submariner dial... Oh well, it'll suffice untill I can order more parts in to try again :)

great news TJ, so the whole project cost you what
  14. So I decided to have another look at the watch, and I noticed that a piece of metal just beneath where the crown stem enters the movement had slipped down, so, a flick of a craft knife to put it back into place, and, the movement then engaged the stem :D

    IT'S ALIVE!!!!!

Pics of the watch to follow in due time :D

  15. FRIDAY

NARIKAA STRIKES AGAIN! Following Hambone's lead here is the Hublot Big Bang Aspen in faux white-ceramic against a sea of Bay of Biscayne blue. TeeJay will see this and freak!

    mummeguccihbbaspenlk7.jpg

A closeup of the rather nice dial. Mmm. Perfect for tanned arms! P.S.: I realised one thing when I took this photo yesterday. That my mother is the only other person on earth I know who doesn't think I'm crazy taking snapshots of my wrists at every opportunity.

    hbbaspensglareimperfectmr0.jpg

    Awesome :lol::thumbsupsmileyanim::lol:

What do the subdials measure? On Emily's, the '3' dial is a 31 day count, the '6' dial is a 24 hour sweep, and the '9' dial does a 7 day count (she's wearing hers right now as well :D )

    As for myself,

I'm wearing the Planet Ocean 45mm, and, thanks to a visit to Emily's scumbag dad (who has access to watch tools) I was able to loosen the case back enough to then strip the watch, blow out the lint, and re-assembling it, using my own tools to tighten the case back. I've used the same method to tighten the case of my 2531.80 (after replacing the bezel insert) and it was still water resistant, so chances are the Planet Ocean is still water resistant too :)

  16. It is the best way to learn TJ

Indeed, I'm not too concerned, as I'm getting a new vintage dial from Silix for the vintage Submariner, and I can always order another Submariner and GMT Master II and try again. Oh, I forgot to say, by putting the dateless dial in the GMT case, I had to remove the cyclops, and, a cigar lighter (aka mini blowtorch) did that effortlessly :)
