Most reps movements are okay, more or less, but the Asian 7750 is hit or miss. Especially seconds at 6 or 12.
-
IMHO you need big wrists to carry these off. As they are A7750 with seconds at 12 ideally you'll need someone who is prepared to work on them should the movement go wrong. Be prepared for that as they are reps after all. Otherwise, if you like them go for it.
-
Indeed.
I'll never have too much money, partly thanks to RWG
-
I know nothing about movements, but from what I've read the gen Omega 8500 doesn't look like any rep movement so dressing up a rep with blued screws isn't going to fool anybody. However if it's just for you (who gives their rep for someone to look at the back anyway!) then I expect you can find blued screws somewhere, but I doubt the balance wheel or bridge.

It looks like the inner bezel needs rotating a fraction. It maybe that you can do this with the crown at 11 o'clock once you receive it. Otherwise I'd not worry about it.
-
Nice, but pointless idea. I'd like to hear it chime though!
-
Looks nice. I actually prefer these to the Seamaster 300, and I'm an Omega guy. Go figure!

Have you any advice on where to find gen Breitling parts?
Well, I'd start on eBay, then both rep and gen forums. Maybe also suppliers like Cousins and Otto Frei.

Yes, interesting indeed. I knew little about lume and now I know a little more thanks to the OP.

Okay then, may I suggest this one as you've not given any hint as to your taste/style/preferences.

If no one else suggests anything are you still going to buy it? lol
And for those too lazy to click the link........

I don't own a PO (yet) so can't help. But there is some good info over at RWI.

Micky - SSteel above in this thread is an EU based watchsmith, I don't know if he works on these or not - just drop him a PM to find out.

Welcome, and, don't forget to do some work at work, it helps pay for the watches after all!

And for you and your family Micky. Catch up with you in the New Year

Coincidentally, I was browsing Puretime's site just now and wanted to check Cartier, but somehow managed to hit Casio. OMG, Casio reps at over $500. What is happening to the world!

I have my doubts as to whether or not it's a gen ETA. Most are old dirty movements and not new ETA. Most people go for an Asian ETA as at least it's likely to be new. Price wise, I've no idea, but check across several TD's to make sure it's ok.
-
If he's a popular TD here I see no issue with it. I'd not put my details into some random site though, but with a TD you should be fine.

My very first counterfeit watch was purchased in Turkey in 1990. I wouldn't call it a rep as it was a generic POS Quartz crap with Cartier poorly applied to the dial. I'd been drinking and it seemed a good idea at the time. When I returned home I couldn't face wearing it so I gave it to my father who, as parents do, cherished it as a gift from his son.
On my travels I never found any good reps that I'd actually wear so I became disillusioned with reps until I discovered RWG.

I tend to discuss with the buyer the value they want declared. Generally "broken watch parts", value around $20.

The best advice I can give is read and then read some more followed by you buying a simple rep (non chrono, no complications). Maybe a Submariner, Seamaster, a Pam, IWC, AP RO/ROO, Patek, Breitling..... Ok, you get the idea. Keep it simple to start with and don't pay extra for ETA movements.
